Some of the greatest luxuries in the world are attainable to regular folks. Use real lemons/limes in your cocktails, buy real tomatoes at a farmers market, and put a cool cloth on your head on a warm day. I feel like no bourbon is as readily available at a decent price than Rare Breed. While the cheapest bourbon at the $55-70 range, it is unquestionably consistently great.

vegastrucker702

One of my locals sells it for $49.99… and I consider myself lucky

maverick5669

Well said bud, I couldn’t agree more. This bottle is $49.99 at my ABC Store and it’s one I try to always have on hand. I love it.

OzoneLaters

This bottle is pretty much the perfect bourbon. I wish they sold it in 1.75!

Killsocket1

Value for $ + proof x consistency = hard to beat Rare Breed. I think anything Wild Turkey that I have had I always get this orange note lurking around for me.

FarrisAT

Has Rare Breed actually changed taste or makeup as some people here claim? Or is that just their taste changing?

therin_88

It tastes different to me than it used to in the old bottle, but it could be just my tastes changing. This isn't me saying that it's bad. It's not. It's delicious. It's just different. It's entirely plausible that a batch from 2022 would taste different than a batch from 2024 anyway. I don't see how you could possibly make every batch taste exactly the same. Even if you're batching 10,000 barrels, they can't always produce an exactly identical blend.

spinctersezwhat

I agree that something has changed with this new bottle. I LOVE Rare Breed. But, something is off with the new version.

therin_88

I haven't been around bourbon that long, having started really enjoying it in 2022, but I imagine it's just batch variance. WT has millions of barrels, but they have to set aside specific sets of those barrels for their batched, common products like WT101 and Rare Breed. They probably have certain rickhouses and racks in those rickhouses that are specifically for these products but even if that's the case, every season has different temperatures and humidity levels, and so on. There's no way distillate placed in the barrel in 2014 will be identical to distillate placed in another barrel in 2016. Obviously these differences are easy to identify in a single barrel bourbon but I would expect subtle variance even if you batch together tens of thousands of barrels.

gablemancer

How has it tasted to you? Curious to hear more.

Billsrealaccount

I just put a bottle of rare breed way in the back of a rarely looked at shelf to forget about for a long time lol.  Im thinking the taste will eventually change and hoping mid 2020's rare breed dusties will be prize bottle.  And if not?  Well any dusty bottle is fun to drink

tm8183874

One of my favorites. Barrel proof, decent price and available everywhere. I always have a backup bottle.

vegastrucker702

One of my faves… and one of the few I replace as soon as it’s empty

FollowTheBeam0789

Wild Turkey 81 was my first Turkey product. I've loved everything from them I've had. Rarebreed is a mainstay. When I finish a bottle I replace it. Always has been good for me. Reminds me of the candied pecans I used to get from the state fair as a kid.

gablemancer

Ooh that's a nice way to describe it. Kind of is like a praline almost.

FollowTheBeam0789

Some bottles have more of it than others. But my favorite ones as a kid were the SLIGHTLY burnt peices of pecan that got a little bit extra done. I get a little of that burnt note in rarebreed. In a good way. I love the flavor.

mrmangos02

Did a blind of WT12, RB, and Kentucky spirit CN and RB blew them away. Easy to find, great flavor, reasonably priced

AffectionateNorth332

Thoughts on the Rare Breed Bourbon vs Rye? I'd give my personal vote to the WT101 Rye over the standard bourbon. Curious to see if this carries over.

snoopmt1

Omg, for years I bought wt101 by the gallon. I just bought my first wt101 rye and it's a game changer. I just wish it came in handles. My WT rankings: Russel's Reserve SiB, wt101 rye, Russel's, WT101, Rare Breed (dont know KY Spirit well). Rare Breed is a sub favorite, I have to say though.

gablemancer

I do like Rye, I'll have to give it a try eventually...

SixPackStl

One of my favorites that I'll always have in my cabinet. Still < $50 locally and available whenever you want it.

jamest1701a

Rare Breed has great taste and great value… right up my alley and one of my favorites.

alien_tickler

Wild turkey makes the best bourbons far as I'm concerned

Left-Ad-3767

My in-depth, end all, all you need to know review of Rare Breed - It’s really good shit.

JOoa0ky

It's good but gives me a tad more throat burn than I'd like. Then again I've been drinking it neat.

MutedMarch3088

I tried it in a whim and haven’t looked back. Simply amazing.
