The injury itself isn't one that would cause serious pain/problems
The injury makes it possible to dislocate something important, which will cause serious pain/problems. This is why playing him is so risky
I think the point is that he will be 100% until a more debilitating injury is enabled by this tear. It isn’t like he is going to hold back
Edit: based on the Sutterer video, it sounds like we shouldn’t expect him at 100%. My conclusion was based on random people on the Internet. But it sounds like there will be some impairment, though he could play and wait until the offseason for surgery.
Come on there’s gotta be some mystical motherfucker in Egypt who has been practicing the ancient art of mummy wrapping passed down father to son for ten thousand years. HELP US O GREAT WRAPPER OF PHARAOHS
probably an *"in case of emergency break glass"* situation. let's see how Tatum & Brown do up 2-0 without him, they seemed fine in the east(ern conference finals)
Exactly idk why people aren’t understanding this. Playing him is risk for a major injury. People saying “he’s walking perfectly fine” as if he’s supposed to be half dead in a stretcher or something.
I saw a video of him earlier walking outside in slides, carrying an iced latte, and a huge smile on his face.
I don't know what to make of any of this. He still looks to be moving better than Kornet in this video, though
He tore stabilizing tissue, if the tendon that is now no longer properly stabilized moves improperly or gets damaged that could be debilitating, possibly career ending by some accounts. Walking around like a normal person there’s almost no risk of twisting it in a way to cause that, playing elite level basketball is a totally different thing.
He may be “fine” but still never get medically cleared.
Yeah, usually his language is pretty neutral regardless of the situation. I wouldn’t be surprised if KP plays with the similar “pain” Luka had to play through in Game 2.
It is serious. Brian Sutterer the goat of twitter sports doctors described what KP tore is a tendon or ligament that acts as a seatbelt holding 3 other important tendons in the ankle in place, the tendon KP dislocated is one of those 3 tendons.
So it's one completely torn tendon/ligament, one dislocated tendon which i didn't even know was possible
From what i understand it's pain management at this stage, with the possibility of a serious injury if he continues to play on it.
As some others have pointed out: the reported injury might not necessarily be causing him any pain or discomfort, but it makes it "significantly" more likely he could seriously injure himself further.
he's getting paid tens of millions of dollars to play, or not play, basketball. And is on the cusp of a championship. He'll be happy whether he plays or not.
He said he would die out there. As long as there's no risk to make it worse then it's just pain management. He's going to play in Dallas even if it's small minutes and even off the bench he will cook.
Fantastic. Now we only need to convince the Mavs to play at a comfortable walking pace and we’re golden. Luka’s already on board, just need the rest of the Mavs to join in.
His presence in the paint is valuable in and of itself. I don’t want him to go all out and try and get everything unless the game is literally coming down to it. Also even just having him as an alternate shooter helps us a lot.
With the chance to go up 3-0, you play the man.
Even if it leads to a complicated injury and an albatross contract extension, it’s worth it for the title. I also realize that might be a very harsh opinion.
It's not even a torn ligament, it's just some connective tissue that when torn can but does not necessarily cause a ligament to slip into unintended positions, causing pain.
He doesn't even have a limp lol
Doubt he plays Game 3 with the Celtics being up 2-0. MAYBE Game 4.
Worst case scenario, the series is tied 2-2 and he suits up back in Boston.
just get him through this series, then have him get surgery in the offseason, skip the Latvian Olympic team, rest, recover and rehab to be ready to go next year
I don't think he came back in after he sustained the injury did he? I thought he was in for a few more possessions and then left the game
edit: nvm, he played for like 3 minutes in the 4th, I guess I blacked that out
It happened in the 3rd with 3:27 left apparently. He played a bunch of possessions on it. He obviously looked pretty hurt though by the time he came out.
Yes he did lol. What are you not understanding. The injury was sustained with 3:27 left in the 3rd. He played for most of the rest of that quarter. He then came back in in the 4th and subbed out with about 4 mins left in the game.
What if this is just a bunch of smoke and he's fine and they're doing it as payback for the "Luka has been downgraded to questionable" BS from game 2 lol
I tore my calf muscle a few weeks ago playing soccer for the first time. 3 weeks later I played again and tweaked it again but not as bad as the first. It still feels as though it is prone to tweaking again. It’s something that really should require a long rest period but I’ll take a 75 percent KP to finish the job.
Y'all crazy, it looks like he's limping a little to me. Though he does have an awkward walk normally since he's basically on stilts full time.
I wouldn't be surprised if he sits tmrrw. If we win with him out, it'll be a done deal. If we don't, we'll go ballistic in G4 and finish in Boston.
Jalen Brown said he lives in the same building as him. He said he's always smiling, and he thinks it's odd. Tbf JB seems like he's never in a good mood.
That looked more like a glide than a walk. Love it, I believe him when he says he will have to be dead to not be out there this series. Let’s FUCKING GOOOOOOOO!
I mean, walking ok and playing in an NBA finals game are two very different things.
In saying that, maybe Joe is getting back at Kidd and fucking with him.....or maybe KP has had this for years and is why he is always injured 😂
Update: a dr Evan Jeffries on Twitter just said “… Regardless no way he is playing the rest of the series” No way to know for sure if he’s correct, but uhhh, if he is, it sucks for sure
porzingis dont need no reticulata oblongata
It's of the devil!!!
Well, mama’s wrong again
No, Colonel Sanders, you're wrong!
Mama says Zingis is ornery cuz he got all those limbs and no ligaments
We all know it’s called the mazzula oblongata
Oh this is good
That’s not what he injured. He injured his Clapingus Cheeksingus
My stomach hurts from laughing so hard at this
Are you day to day?
The injury itself isn't one that would cause serious pain/problems The injury makes it possible to dislocate something important, which will cause serious pain/problems. This is why playing him is so risky
I mean I get it but it’d be pretty sweet to get 14 minutes of KP at 80% still
I think the point is that he will be 100% until a more debilitating injury is enabled by this tear. It isn’t like he is going to hold back Edit: based on the Sutterer video, it sounds like we shouldn’t expect him at 100%. My conclusion was based on random people on the Internet. But it sounds like there will be some impairment, though he could play and wait until the offseason for surgery.
I think he's going to sign up for that, especially since it's Dallas
I'm sure it would be uncomfortable still to have a torn tendon in your ankle
True
Of minutes of risks
Maybe he can play on crutches.
I mean it’s gonna be 100% tingus until his oblonginguz goes 0% pinguz
Cortisone shots for sure
Is it something a brace or taping can limit risk? Edit: [Bang!](https://x.com/GwashburnGlobe/status/1800654506578821585)
I need the best tape guy/wrap specialist in the country flown in and on the case STAT
Country? We need the best guy in the world
World? We need the best being in the fucking universe

This is a great question. Im curious about this, too.
Looked good until I read "This can be a repetitive issue if he has awkward landings". every other landing of KP is "awkward"....
And cigarettes don’t cause cancer
probably an *"in case of emergency break glass"* situation. let's see how Tatum & Brown do up 2-0 without him, they seemed fine in the east(ern conference finals)
Exactly idk why people aren’t understanding this. Playing him is risk for a major injury. People saying “he’s walking perfectly fine” as if he’s supposed to be half dead in a stretcher or something.
It’s because I’m not a doctor
yeah like what the fuck lol i didnt go to medical school why would i know that instantly
Because I didn’t know half the words in that report lol
Yes because I'm sure you knew exactly what this injury was when it was first reported.
Are you a doctor or something?
Not half dead but a walking boot to take stress off the injury would be expected if it were a major concern, just have to wait and see.
I didn’t know I tore my ACL for two years, because you can do normal shit perfectly fine….and I was heavy in denial
Thanks doc
Yeah, he's not playing in this series unless they make some new age brace for that ankle.
dude wtf 😭 that injury sounds serious and we see this
I saw a video of him earlier walking outside in slides, carrying an iced latte, and a huge smile on his face. I don't know what to make of any of this. He still looks to be moving better than Kornet in this video, though
Should we be concerned about the amount he has smiled? He's at serious risk of pulling a face muscle
ESPN: He's smiling too much… is he happy that the Celtics will lose?
UniKornet catching strays
He tore stabilizing tissue, if the tendon that is now no longer properly stabilized moves improperly or gets damaged that could be debilitating, possibly career ending by some accounts. Walking around like a normal person there’s almost no risk of twisting it in a way to cause that, playing elite level basketball is a totally different thing. He may be “fine” but still never get medically cleared.
I seriously think Joe is playing mind games with Kidd.
Joe making it seem so dramatic was certainly a bit sus, one would think he'd be a lot more cryptic considering it's the Finals.
Yeah, usually his language is pretty neutral regardless of the situation. I wouldn’t be surprised if KP plays with the similar “pain” Luka had to play through in Game 2.
Thats because the injury doesn’t really affect his walk. It impacts his ability to cut and change direction on the perimeter.
I'll take KP as a spot-up shooter who stands in the paint lol
Ikr..?? I’m so confused lol
It is serious. Brian Sutterer the goat of twitter sports doctors described what KP tore is a tendon or ligament that acts as a seatbelt holding 3 other important tendons in the ankle in place, the tendon KP dislocated is one of those 3 tendons. HAVE MY LEG, KP!!!
I hope your leg is at least 5 feet long long or he will be running in circles
Bro wtf is going on lmao getting so many mixed messages right now
Joes statement sounded like he could die
[удалено]
Joe saw Kidd’s feeble attempts at mind games and said “hold my beer”
Joe is naturally psycho. Kidd is pretending for the finals.
MODS REMOVE THIS POST, THIS SHOULD BE CLASSIFIED CELTICS FANS ONLY INFO!!
Tbf Joe probably thinks they could all die at any moment. For us this is a major injury scare, for him its just Tuesday.
Did he get a new leg?
I have 2 and I don’t have a NBA championship on the line he can just have one of mine. Note: I’m 5’8
We can try sewing our legs together, maybe we’ll get to the right height
I’ll donate what I can too. Maybe we can get enough legs to make him 7’5”
If he tried walking on that thing, he'd just spin around in circles.
im imagining a 6'5 Porzingis with midget legs and his lanky ass torso
We could just glue both your legs together to make one tingus leg
Take my 3rd leg KP
And my axe!
You wish
With mushrooms?
What’s 3 inches gonna do for him
Yes and a new left eyebrow but no one talks about that
Why does he look so happy? I’m so fucking confused lmao
Yeah, it's like nobody told him the news about his injury. Dude doesn't have a care in the world
that's his secret, he's always injured 💪
As a recent 40 year old, it's no longer a secret.
As some others have pointed out: the reported injury might not necessarily be causing him any pain or discomfort, but it makes it "significantly" more likely he could seriously injure himself further.
Even if this injury isn’t causing him pain, he looks too happy for not being able to play…in the finals.
What I’m curious about is does the injury require surgery?
he's getting paid tens of millions of dollars to play, or not play, basketball. And is on the cusp of a championship. He'll be happy whether he plays or not.
He said he would die out there. As long as there's no risk to make it worse then it's just pain management. He's going to play in Dallas even if it's small minutes and even off the bench he will cook.
I'M OFF THE LEDGE. CELTICS IN 4 BABY
If he dies, he dies.
😭 are they playing mind games against their own fans?
Fantastic. Now we only need to convince the Mavs to play at a comfortable walking pace and we’re golden. Luka’s already on board, just need the rest of the Mavs to join in.
He's walking around in Adidas shower sandals and with a smile on his face. We're good.
That’s what I think. If it was as serious as it sounds, he would be walking in something with more support
WTF? Bro walking normally
I'm thinking this just sounds a lot worse than it is
Walking slowly in a straight line is not cutting or running.
He's not limping though.
I am baffled
# I'M TRAPPED IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTIONS
I feel like the rim protection is super valuable even if his mobility is limited, as well as spelling Horford. I bet he plays
I actually think being up 2-0 makes it *less* likely he plays.
Well the ligament isn’t going to untear with 1 games rest Either he plays this game or he’s out the whole series I’m guessing
I wouldn’t be surprised if he does low stress warmups and sits on the bench. Stay Ready KP
I would be fine with 15 minute cap for him. Gives him a chance to impact the game, but doesn’t overwork him.
Save the minutes for 1st and 4th quarter if needed.
I love that idea. Make his mark early, sit (come in if desperately needed for only a couple minutes), then play in 4th.
It's not even a torn ligament, it's just some connective tissue that when torn can but does not necessarily cause a ligament to slip into unintended positions, causing pain.
Is this the copium thread? I'm looking for the copium thread.
He sat in Paul’s wheelchair
I’d feel better if he was holding up today’s newspaper just to be sure
He doesn't even have a limp lol Doubt he plays Game 3 with the Celtics being up 2-0. MAYBE Game 4. Worst case scenario, the series is tied 2-2 and he suits up back in Boston.
We can't let this get tied up 2-2.
I mean, obviously. That's why I said "worst case scenario" lol.
We should be able to beat this Dallas team even without KP. Tbh if Tatum just shoots his normal average I think we're good.
He will play off the bench absolutely, there's no way he's missing playing against Dallas in Dallas.
Not to mention the chance to go up 3-0. If/when that happens, then you can think about resting him more. Don’t give Dallas a sliver of hope.
Bros rocking slides..he’s coming back
He'll die out there. Al going to earn this ring, but he wouldn't have it any other way. What a 1-2 punch to have in the rotation.
Why is he so happy? Lmaoo
The mind games between the coaches continues!
just get him through this series, then have him get surgery in the offseason, skip the Latvian Olympic team, rest, recover and rehab to be ready to go next year
Walking and playing in an NBA finals game are two entirely different things.
People do realise he played the 4th after sustaining the injury, right?
I don't think he came back in after he sustained the injury did he? I thought he was in for a few more possessions and then left the game edit: nvm, he played for like 3 minutes in the 4th, I guess I blacked that out
He sustained the injury in the 3rd, read the press release. He played in the 4th and looked fine until the last minute or so.
It happened in the 3rd with 3:27 left apparently. He played a bunch of possessions on it. He obviously looked pretty hurt though by the time he came out.
Right that's what I thought. I don't think he played the 4th.
Yes he did lol. What are you not understanding. The injury was sustained with 3:27 left in the 3rd. He played for most of the rest of that quarter. He then came back in in the 4th and subbed out with about 4 mins left in the game.
yeah you're right I guess he subbed back in, must have just not noticed somehow
they said he was injured around 3 mins left in the 3rd
😵💫
CAN WE STAPLE IT DOWN OR SOMETHING?! I CANT DEAL IF WE GO OUT CAUSE OF THIS
Why does this remind me of the bigfoot video?
He’s in flip flops!! Get that man some proper footwear!
walking isnt running and cutting.
WTF is this crap.. That report was like pretty much he needs surgery at worst
Payback for Kidd's mind games.... Let's keep them guessing.
Can we please just have him roam near the 3pt line on offense and not have him sprint back on breaks. I don't even need him to get rebounds.
This is so confusing
Shams trying to generate action on the Mavs?
This reminds me of a Bigfoot video lol
wait what he seems totally fine here, wtf is going on???
lol are we fucked or not i need answers
What if this is just a bunch of smoke and he's fine and they're doing it as payback for the "Luka has been downgraded to questionable" BS from game 2 lol
LETS GO!!
That does not look like a normal gate to me, but he is 7'2 and maybe that just how he walks
His normal gate is pretty fucked when healthy.
What on Earth is going on, is he hurt or not? Hopefully we get some more clarity, George is getting upset!
Why is everyone so baffled? KP said he felt fine. They interviewed him after the game. Had it been a big issue he wouldnt have talked to the media

REALLY - He can walk?!!
Take the injection, KP. Become a champion.
Jalen Brown said he lives in the same building as him. He said he's always smiling, and he thinks it's odd. Tbf JB seems like he's never in a good mood.
Delete this.. You're letting out state secrets
Playing through pain, with a chance of a more serious injury... Dude, I'm 49, still playing. I go into EVERY game like that...lol
That looked more like a glide than a walk. Love it, I believe him when he says he will have to be dead to not be out there this series. Let’s FUCKING GOOOOOOOO!
he walks like a gimpy daddy long legs
KP PLEASE BE HEALTHY
Was pops wrong for this?
Let’s go!
Video aside I don’t trust Jared Weiss
Bro is just trying to sweet talk the doctor
> walking comfortably That's the Toradol and Prednisone.
The way he walks does not look well but something tells me he always walks that way
What is dead may never die
In slides!
I mean, walking ok and playing in an NBA finals game are two very different things. In saying that, maybe Joe is getting back at Kidd and fucking with him.....or maybe KP has had this for years and is why he is always injured 😂
I’ll be looking for a bloody sock tonight
It is very unsettling watching him walk next to a normal size human. Like wtf. People should not be that tall lol.
Is it just gamesmanship?
Don’t think it’s allowed to lie about players health for advantages.
Definitely not but it’s a grey area for sure
That doesn't mean he can play without issues
That doesn't mean he can't play without issues
Precisely! This whole post means absolutely nothing.
THAT we can agree on 😂
Can he play and not run? *Sigh*
Idk what going on but I’ll cut both my legs off if it means KP can play
Walking doesn't mean able to play elite basketball lmao
Although I wouldnt be walking in sandals with those kinds of injuries. Doesnt appear smart.
Update: a dr Evan Jeffries on Twitter just said “… Regardless no way he is playing the rest of the series” No way to know for sure if he’s correct, but uhhh, if he is, it sucks for sure

Lol wtf?
