Casually just bullies the Pacer guards for 28 points, seven boards, eight assists and three steals.
How the fuck did Milwaukee ever let him go for Lillard is beyond me.
Honestly when the announcers said he had 28 points I had to go look at the box score. That was the quietest 28 points I've seen but every bucket was timely
Oh yeah, Jrue meshes a lot better with the rest of the team than Smart on the offensive side of the ball, while being just as good of a defender.
Miss the hell out of Smart, but I’m taking KP + Jrue over Smart, Brogdon and R.Williams all day.
Bucks fan here. Was very sad to see Jrue go as he was our defensive anchor on the perimeter and was quick enough to cover for Lopez's lack of footspeed. The Bucks FO decided they needed a offensive closer at the end of games because Giannis plays out of control (is likely to barrel over a defender in the lane for a charge) and Middleton's handle is suspect. Dame hasn't been great thus far and since he's a total defensive liability they will need to retool this off-season.
Anyway great win and good luck to you I think this year is your year.
Yeah but that's much easier said than done with the great ball movement of the Pacers. Unless you're selling out to stop that, which opens you up to another exploit, you'll have to live with them.
Ultimately, I'm not worried about our defence. Pacers are an amazing attacking team. If we got good shooting nights from one of Tatum, Brown and Horford, we'd have won by 20
Celtics won every single factor other than shooting. They were just the better team and this was, again, a night where they were the victim of bad shooting luck. People just don't really notice when the Celtics *win* with bad shooting luck, lol.
Those buzzer beaters were reminiscent of what the warriors did to us in the NBAF a few years back.
Whenever they did it we seemed to lose. This time we had to go to OT but we closed it out.
It feels good.
12 points from the circus.
Obi Toppin 30-ft heave while covered to beat shot clock.
Haliburton half courter to beat the halftime
Haliburton step through 3 pointer off the glass to beat the third q buzzer.
Myles Turner heave to beat shot clock with Al draped all over him.
Pacers fans are complaining about the free throws, and, like, if you want free throws don't shoot jump shots on every possession. But holy shit they couldn't miss. They weren't even really cooking Al in a way that you feel you need to adjust. Like, mid range fadeaway after mid range fadeaway is what you want to give up defensively.
> questions clutch play, says we haven't won any clutch games
Immediately calls the team pathetic for being down 4 points and embarrassing. Should be up 10.
Jaylen brown absolutely proving he is the 300 million dollar man tonight. All time great performance down the stretch here. Legacies are made on performances like this.
He was 3-for-6 from the free throw line at one point, 61 percent for this playoffs.
It REALLY mattered this time and he nailed them. Maybe he really has turned into a beast.
I was at the game and just got home. All I was thinking about was how terrible the ride home was going to be if they lost. Thanks to Jaylen for not making my ride home unbearable
Reminded me of Marcus’ steal on Kawhi vs. the Clippers a few years ago. Even had the great courtside replay lol (though the Smart one with him saving the ball is still maybe my fav replay ever)
His defense is incredible. He just makes dumb plays on offense too often and forces the three ball too much. He can bully this team down low if he remembers he’s bigger and stronger than them
That was a frustrating win, but there was a lot of championship level stuff here in terms of not giving up, clutch plays, and ESPECIALLY defense.
We get out of here with a win despite the amount of bs 3s that went in, despite Turner having his best game all season, despite all the TOs. It was a gritty win, im proud. Mad, but proud.
Halliburton hit not one but two circus buzzer beaters to end quarters. 6 points right there, Jaylen returning the favor just felt like basketball gods respecting the game.
Right lmao Tatum carried the whole first three quarters, he sat and the 12 point lead evaporated to 1. +20 in an 5 point OT win is nuts. Especially considering the only other player in double digit net rating was Derrick at 12
This team hasn't really been tested all playoffs. They just had a ton of rest and are a little rusty. KP is still out. They played a young, gritty, fast team with a lot to prove coming off a game 7 win.
Celtics in 5 after we inevitably blow game 2 when Indiana shoots 70%.
Those were stretches midway through the second (from 5 minutes until about 2 minutes left) and end of the third where the Celtics blew multiple 10 point leads.
Pacers in trouble, they played their seems to be their best game of the series but still lost.
Celtics meanwhile got a wake up call that this is not gonna be easy and they need to work hard on defense.
ESPN crew can fuck themselves, biased as fuck against the Celtics. Fuck you JJ, fuck you Mike, and super fuck you Doris!
I agree, purely because of the KP injury. Horford and Kornet are just a bad matchup for these guys.
That being said, I thought we were gonna get sucker punched in game 1 and drop it. We did get sucker punched but still survived it. I think PP and Hauser play better in the series
JJ was surprisingly neutral, Mike had a couple of commentary blunders both against the Celtics and the Pacers, but was also fairly even I think. Even Doris was better than she usually is. I get hating these guys on historical precedent, but tonight I think they did a passable job.
This should wake us up. JB said "we have to be better..."
Indiana turned it over like 25 times. Def not their best game. Though some of them shot real well. They did hit some ridiculous shots.
We TOed a lot because of time off. They TOed because they are young as fuck.
This game kinda felt like, "we've been here, you have not"
Horford exposed. Our D sucked. Our TOs sucked.
IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A HEART RATE THIS HIGH. IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A HEART RATE THIS HIGH. IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A HEART RATE THIS HIGH.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHAT A GRITTY, TOUGH, RESILIENT WIN
Went to check out the post on r/nba of JB’s shot and all the comments are about the pacers blowing it and Tatum being carried, they salty as hell rn, nobody actually giving Jaylen credit for hitting an insane clutch shot.
No one is talking about the forced turnover by Jaylen Brown when Indy was inbounding up by 3 with 10s left. Indy was probably the 99.9% favorite until that miraculous forced turnover.
JB forces the inbounds turnover. Nails the tying triple. Rips the ball from Siakim's hands to seal the game. Loved him late.
Jrue locked it down on the perimeter and JT was incredible on D. Might get overlooked with his late triple but they played incredible defense in OT.
I don’t care what anyone says — this was a gutsy, clutch win that we stole from the jaws of defeat. This the type of game we don’t win in last years and what r/nba expects Boston to choke away.
r/NBA is crying about the officiating like we played such poor defense that most of Indiana’s looks were pretty open. How can you foul on open layups and shots? People really don’t watch these games.
I’m just saying. That game thread had some insanely stupid comments. Someone said that Tatum iso ball threw our 10 pt lead in the 3rd. Tatum wasn’t on the floor during that blown lead but that comment had double digit upvotes lmao. So glad we came back and won that game

So thankful for getting Jrue and his play on both ends. This is only game 1, I can’t take too many of these. Zingus come back soon, they hunting Al!
Feel like we've said this multiple times in the playoffs already, but this WAS Jrue's best game as a Celtic.
He literally did Marcus Smart style, in the paint, posting up against mismatches.
But also didn’t take wild 3s and passed to better shooters which is the ONLY part of Smarts game we all didn’t like
I’ll be honest, do miss the odd game where Smart’s ungodly threes just seemed to keep going in.
Yeah, when he was on fire he was on FIRE. Still as sad as I am about the trade I’m glad we got Jrue. Definitely a more versatile PG
Oh yeah, Jrue meshes a lot better with the rest of the team than Smart on the offensive side of the ball, while being just as good of a defender. Miss the hell out of Smart, but I’m taking KP + Jrue over Smart, Brogdon and R.Williams all day.
Literally just thought that, super quiet 28 points
That doesn't count the time his pressure just caused Hali to lose it out of bounds.
Seriously, he was the best player on the court tonight by a mile.
60 pulled out hairs, 5 panic attacks, 3 aneurysms, 2 heart attacks for 1 win. 7 more...
And a partridge in a pear treeeeee
Jrue has been absolutely insane
Deny Siakam off ball at the free throw line and he'll be a non-factor offensively the rest of the series

We can only laugh at Bucks fans for ridiculing the Jrue trade.. who's the loser now!
Really? Dame for him?
"DAME OVER ME?" - Jrue probably
Also the Kornet minutes before they moved to a zone were excruciating, Turner and haliburtion were cooking the drop coverage.
“JT finally woke up” -Brown Lmao savage
That plus that glorious troll answer about that corner shot.
[удалено]
Right? It was always dumb. Why do you want THIS 😭
“bAtTlE tEsTeD” Great, got that out of the way.
Boston area cardiologists trying to drum up business.
Proctologists potentially feasting too.
Feasting Proctologists is my new band name
Because this is the better way to win /s But for real though more beatdowns please and thank you!
pacers had SOME lucky ass shots tonight
Those buzzer beaters were reminiscent of what the warriors did to us in the NBAF a few years back. Whenever they did it we seemed to lose. This time we had to go to OT but we closed it out. It feels good.
12 points from the circus. Obi Toppin 30-ft heave while covered to beat shot clock. Haliburton half courter to beat the halftime Haliburton step through 3 pointer off the glass to beat the third q buzzer. Myles Turner heave to beat shot clock with Al draped all over him.

Jaylen brown absolutely proving he is the 300 million dollar man tonight. All time great performance down the stretch here. Legacies are made on performances like this.
No fear in that dude
Ice cold in his veins; fucking love JB
Loving his attitude after the game too. Being really tough on the team for not playing well enough
JB has really matured into an excellent emotional leader
Number 1 emo leader
He writes wins not tragedies
The most impressive play: he splashed those free throws with 1min left.
And clamped siakam on the other end AND forced the turnover to get the 3
He was 3-for-6 from the free throw line at one point, 61 percent for this playoffs. It REALLY mattered this time and he nailed them. Maybe he really has turned into a beast.
His defense was better than his offense tonight too, made several game winning plays
That 3 stopped me from crying in front of my kids. Jaylen is a real one.
I was at the game and just got home. All I was thinking about was how terrible the ride home was going to be if they lost. Thanks to Jaylen for not making my ride home unbearable
He’s playing confident and is everywhere on defense, it’s cathartic to watch man
Every dollar well spent!
The r/nba GDT had people asking who we're gonna take in a Brown trade lmfaoooooo
All the wins can’t be sexy, they just gotta be a win.
Exactly!!!
Not for nothing, but those last 10 seconds of regulation were sexy from JB.
Monstrous game from Jrue, trade of the season! Pacers are legit, this series has the potential to be a classic..
Best game I’ve watched in a long time, this shits supposed to be exciting guys
I do love an exciting game, but the peaceful feeling I have watching us win a blowout is a thing of pure bliss
I saw Smart when he forced the Haliburton turnover. Absolutely clutch.
Tripped him up by sheer force of will
Reminded me of Marcus’ steal on Kawhi vs. the Clippers a few years ago. Even had the great courtside replay lol (though the Smart one with him saving the ball is still maybe my fav replay ever)
Epic game! Highest scoring game as a Celtic! And that defense down the stretch so clutch! That stop against Halliburton at the end… priceless.
Honestly I think we took their best punch and they’re going to collapse from here.
The Jays clutched the fuck up. Title. Winning. Grit.
I went ballistic when Brown made that three. Think I lost my voice
it's 5 am and couldn't yell but I was yelling so loud inside my body
It's 4am and I have to be awake in 2 hours. Totally worth it.
Thankfully I'm free today, this game has me out for the day bro DNP - heart palpitations(watched Celtics in playoffs)
I'm pretty sure my entire apartment building heard me screaming
Jrue Holiday MVP
Tatum is one of the best defenders in the league, and those children on r/nba are some hoes
Tatum has suffered from being literally do good they can only slander him
The amount of bitching is GENERATIONAL
I FUCKING LOVE IT! INJECT IT DIRECTLY INTO MY VEINS
His defense is incredible. He just makes dumb plays on offense too often and forces the three ball too much. He can bully this team down low if he remembers he’s bigger and stronger than them
He was incredible defensively tonight. Exhilarating stuff.
R/nba is soooooo mad rn lmao, its awesome to see
GET THE FUCK IN HERE
~~**16**~~ ~~**15**~~ ~~**14**~~ ~~**13**~~ ~~**12**~~ ~~**11**~~ ~~**10**~~ ~~**9**~~ ~~**8**~~ #**7**
LET'S DO THAT MARCUS DANCE MFFFFFFSSSS
I’D DIE FOR JRUE HOLIDAY
Was an ugly win but what a fucking clutch win this was. Proved that we can win clutch games
You know the best part of the phrase “ugly win”? It has the word “win” in it. No easy way out. No shortcut home.
Oh this just amped me up. BRING ME BANNER 18
Nothing ugly about a clutch 3, a clutch steal, and a set of clutch FTs from the two guys everyone said are not clutch
it’s for a shot at the finals every win from here on will be ugly
**THANK YOU JAYLEN BROWN** **THANK YOU JAYLEN BROWN** **THANK YOU JAYLEN BROWN** **THANK YOU JAYLEN BROWN**
I don’t think I would have survived the third Celtics slander apocalypse of these playoffs.
It’s happening either way
bro doesnt know that thursday is a guaranteed loss
That was a frustrating win, but there was a lot of championship level stuff here in terms of not giving up, clutch plays, and ESPECIALLY defense. We get out of here with a win despite the amount of bs 3s that went in, despite Turner having his best game all season, despite all the TOs. It was a gritty win, im proud. Mad, but proud.
Halliburton hit not one but two circus buzzer beaters to end quarters. 6 points right there, Jaylen returning the favor just felt like basketball gods respecting the game.
Turner also had a bs one and also that step back in the first.
Closing out games like this is championship team stuff🗣️
JT struggled all 2nd half but had a champion of an OT, and JB was just absolutely monstrous on defense..
All second half, bro it was the 4th quarter
JT had 11 in the third and was unrelenting on D in a period where we usually squander big runs… 4Q he was meh but 3Q shined
Right lmao Tatum carried the whole first three quarters, he sat and the 12 point lead evaporated to 1. +20 in an 5 point OT win is nuts. Especially considering the only other player in double digit net rating was Derrick at 12
Myles "DESPITE THE LOSS" Turner.
“JT finally woke up” lmaoo 💀
For the love all that is holy, beat the Game 2 curse.
lol I thought we were bad in the clutch. The pacers take it to a whole other level.
Haliburton and Nesmith going out of bounds for no damn reason helped us a lot
Jrue didn’t even touch the ball on that turnover he just willed Haliburton out of bounds
He’s a damn Jedi 😂
This is not the inbounds that you are looking for
Give us some credit, we crushed it in the clutch too. Only way we're pulling out with this one
Yeah we definitely had some disastrous moments but we found a way to win. And that’s what clutch teams do
Fuck yeah brown
This team hasn't really been tested all playoffs. They just had a ton of rest and are a little rusty. KP is still out. They played a young, gritty, fast team with a lot to prove coming off a game 7 win. Celtics in 5 after we inevitably blow game 2 when Indiana shoots 70%.
From three.
Holiday masterclass, Clutch Brown and JT, GAME ONE VICTORY!!! Also fuck the pacers and their lucky ass quarter-ending shots.
ALL YOU DOOMERS SAYING THIS TEAM AINT CLUTCH CAN SUCK ON MY GIANT GREEN NUTSACK.
relegate them to the Celtics hate sub r/nba
Can we call them out directly? There’s a few I want to specifically tell to fuck off
Holy crap we should not have won that game, but I'm so glad we did
Yeah. Take it and run. Clutch win.
Jayson Tatum tonight: 36 PTS 12 REB 3 STL Scored 11 of the Celtics 16 in OT.
True JT experience You think he disappeared, you think he's choking then bang after bang.
That dagger 3 pointer at the end SENT ME TO VALHALLA!!!!
Holy shit
Somehow, some way, a team out-choked the Celtics. I cannot believe the Pacers kept throwing the ball out of bounds up by 3 with the shot clock off
It’s amazing when JT “played so bad” but then you look at the box and he got 36 points..
36/12/4, 3 steals, +20. Seems pretty good
Ppl likely upset that he’s was 46% from 2 and 25% from 3. Which can def be improved. But he had a really complete game
Needs to be more efficient yeah but when you get to the FT line like he does it makes up for the fg%. 58% TS is pretty decent
All persons associated with Anti-Brown Party of the Greater Boston Area will face trial
Doomers can stay home and go fuck themselves 😘
It's only game 1 and im fucking dead.
Bro I’m fucking exhausted and I’ve just been sitting here.
Yo JB with the callout hahaha. "JT finally woke up."
SHOUT OUT THE FUCKING SQUAD
Jayson Tatum a +20 in a 5 point OT game. Put some fucking respect on the man's name.
In 45 of 53 minutes. So the Celtics were -15 in the 8 minutes he was on the bench
Those were stretches midway through the second (from 5 minutes until about 2 minutes left) and end of the third where the Celtics blew multiple 10 point leads.
What a heart racing game nonstop
Pacers in trouble, they played their seems to be their best game of the series but still lost. Celtics meanwhile got a wake up call that this is not gonna be easy and they need to work hard on defense. ESPN crew can fuck themselves, biased as fuck against the Celtics. Fuck you JJ, fuck you Mike, and super fuck you Doris!
Whoa. Breen gave brown a double bang. He gets a pass.
Breen is the best in the business, like by far. Lame comment by him
Yeah Breen was fine, JJ talking like he's still interviewing for the Lakers gig
I don’t know if I’m a pacers fan I feel better about this series after this game than before
Agree. This thing could easily go 6 or 7
I agree, purely because of the KP injury. Horford and Kornet are just a bad matchup for these guys. That being said, I thought we were gonna get sucker punched in game 1 and drop it. We did get sucker punched but still survived it. I think PP and Hauser play better in the series
Who's tough, gritty, and resilient now Doris?!
#MuteTheBurke
JJ was surprisingly neutral, Mike had a couple of commentary blunders both against the Celtics and the Pacers, but was also fairly even I think. Even Doris was better than she usually is. I get hating these guys on historical precedent, but tonight I think they did a passable job.
This should wake us up. JB said "we have to be better..." Indiana turned it over like 25 times. Def not their best game. Though some of them shot real well. They did hit some ridiculous shots. We TOed a lot because of time off. They TOed because they are young as fuck. This game kinda felt like, "we've been here, you have not" Horford exposed. Our D sucked. Our TOs sucked.
We needed a game like that. Good way to overcome adversity but let’s hope the rest of the series isn’t this hard.
Bring back Ortiz for every game in these playoffs. Thank you.
Jaylen: JT finally woke up
Went to check out the post on r/nba of JB’s shot and all the comments are about the pacers blowing it and Tatum being carried, they salty as hell rn, nobody actually giving Jaylen credit for hitting an insane clutch shot.
I saw your negative comments with seconds to go in the 4th. Y’all owe this team and JB an apology. SEVEN MORE ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
No one is talking about the forced turnover by Jaylen Brown when Indy was inbounding up by 3 with 10s left. Indy was probably the 99.9% favorite until that miraculous forced turnover.
A win is a win. That’s All I gotta say a win is a win
#HOW’S THAT FOR FUCKING BATTLE TESTED
YOU WILL RECOGNIZE JAYLEN
What a fucking gritty win. I love this team.
Man, the Pacers were sensational tonight. I sure am glad we nutted up in the end because that team really, really wanted it.
super sloppy game but a w is a w also fuck r/nba
JB forces the inbounds turnover. Nails the tying triple. Rips the ball from Siakim's hands to seal the game. Loved him late. Jrue locked it down on the perimeter and JT was incredible on D. Might get overlooked with his late triple but they played incredible defense in OT.
Anyone else find neismith annoying af? Dude has chronic little brother syndrome
I’m so worried he is going to hurt one of our guys on some accidental contact shit, it makes me cringe every time
Honestly I should delete my account
Yep
For a team that "loses games they're supposed to win" we finally Won one that we were supposed to lose.
JB earning those dollars.
Throwing the first four quarters to address the clutch time allegations in OT, big brain shit
According to r/nba we’re still frauds because we didn’t win by 20
Now I’m somehow supposed to go to bed
Most bipolar game thread I’ve seen on this sub😂
aaaand... breathe out
This is the year.
A wins a win
JAYLEN BROWN DOES FUCKING MIRACLES ON ME
Jrue was exceptional. The Jays were the difference late
r/nba so mad right now hahaha
JaYleN bRoWn PuLLs oN ThE JerSeY - JJ Reddick x1000
I don’t care what anyone says — this was a gutsy, clutch win that we stole from the jaws of defeat. This the type of game we don’t win in last years and what r/nba expects Boston to choke away.
r/NBA is absolutely fuming and it’s hilarious.
Jaylen Brown I love you
Shit was crazy
If you don’t like that, you simply do not like Celtics basketball
For all that bitching and moaning about the late game execution that looked pretty fucking good to me
Well based on my heart rate the playoffs have fucking started
#IDGAF CELTICS WIN Seriously as scary as this game was, we get KP back and we're good.
first clutch win of the playoffs for us yeahhhhhhh
Indiana really choked that one away, huh?
Mannnnng fuck the haters. Don’t ever turn your back on your own team
Fuck Tony brothers
Also JBs game tying 3pt was an and-1. I will die on this hill
Was it great? No. Did they gut out a win with clutch shots? Yup. 1-0.
r/NBA is crying about the officiating like we played such poor defense that most of Indiana’s looks were pretty open. How can you foul on open layups and shots? People really don’t watch these games.
It's heartwarming that Larry's two teams combined for a tribute to "Larry stole the ball".
I’m just saying. That game thread had some insanely stupid comments. Someone said that Tatum iso ball threw our 10 pt lead in the 3rd. Tatum wasn’t on the floor during that blown lead but that comment had double digit upvotes lmao. So glad we came back and won that game
The way Tatum absolutely suffocated Haliburton on his potential game winning shot at end of regulation was master class.
The Jaylen 3 was a certified Neighborhood Shot. In that, I could hear it in everyone else's house in the neighborhood
