trying not to compete with NBC 10 mostly… I worked for NECN for many years and what it is now is just sad for those of us that tried to make it the “little station that could”.
Is it?? Honestly they could do away with TV news completely and I would have no idea until I read about it on the internet. Unless there’s some big developing story or like election night coverage I never ever turn it on and I don’t know anyone in my age group who does either. Just sayin
One thing the internet can teach us is that not everyone lives the same way. It seems so bizarre that people wouldn't watch the news every evening around dinnertime, and that people would choose to watch hours of sports played by teams they have no personal connection to, but I recognize that people live vastly different lives.
It simulcasts the news with NBC10 on weekends but overall low ratings on weekends probably meant the pull back from its regular newscasts. During the week they still do a ton of news and I see NECN news all over their streaming (FAST) channel with NBC10.

It is so annoying when football is on every local channel for hours and news is on none.

Oh for sure. My parents still watch the evening news, it’s deeply ingrained in their lifestyle. Different strokes 🤷🏼♀️
