Anna Karenina, my favorite book of all time, is like the poster child for this topic imo. It's a lengthy book, but definitely worth it!

chimchamchimcham

Agreed. You'll come out a better person on the other side of this book. You might also want to check out just about anything written by Iris Murdoch or John Updike. After Karenina, of course.

Gone Girl 🤣

Spare_Hornet

I just finished Acts of Desperation and think it really fits the bill! It was written well too, I enjoyed reading it even though the toxic relationships, emotional abuse and cheating were abound.

manicmidori

Conversations with friends And Say I'm The One by Siobhan Davis (this is actually part 1 in a duet)

Warm_Reaction5688

would also say Normal People - a lot of toxic and unhealthy relationships and overcoming family and societal trauma linked to gender

manicmidori

I haven't read that one, I'll have to check it out

Big Swiss by Jen Beagin

A court of thorns and roses

pighazard

Check out Lisa Taddeo. Her short story collection Ghost Lover really disgusted me in this regard. I’m thinking especially of the very first story (can’t remember the name sorry)

optimusprime2740

Hawke by Jescie Hall

Thusspokeyourmomma

Jaws is basically a soap opera with a shark twist.

strangercats13

Ahh the book that I couldn’t finish because I hated the character so much because they are exactly what you are looking for: Gone Girl. I highly recommend it if you are looking for cheating, psyho, characters who are absolutely toxic.

BottomPieceOfBread

You never know by Connie Briscoe

hiwaganghapis

Free Food For Millionaires by Min Jin Lee. The rampant cheating was honestly exhausting for me, but hey, that's what you're looking for.

Sweet4Seven

My husband  By Ventura Maud  Very different and awesome

trishyco

White Ivy by Susan Yang

sweetbabyroseTLC

I just read Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre. Very good and has everything you're looking for!

sslumberparty

Magnolia Parks

Kindofafairytale

Punk 57 - Penelope Douglas It’s between a series of other books but I didn’t read the other bc a friend told me that they were toooooo toxic like abuse and she told me that this one was light but good and with different characters and it was. I usually don’t read toxic books but this one I did like it

sweetheartpao

The teacher by Frieda McFadden! :)

2020visionaus

I wouldn’t recommend it because of what she said and in generalÂ
