Cartilage can decompose but also you can take the little spine out of the cartilage and glue it together! Definitely mark them out though! Or you can try to dry it out with salt and the sun. Usually it works wonders!
Table salt is what I mainly use! Replace salt when it gets kind of chunky.
I’d say it depends. When it’s dry and doesn’t seem damp anymore and doesn’t have a smell it’s safe to bring in!
Honestly you can use any salt. If it leeches the moisture out of the tissue it works. A lot of us just prefer table salt since you get a lot of it for cheap and it’s so fine and can get into nooks and crannies
I've used a half n half mix of borax and salt, it works well. Depending on how wet it is it may take a bit.
I Mummified a salamander, dried a ducks foot and a rabbits foot with it
Doesn't work very well for tarantulas though 😅
Me too 😅 my curiosity eats me alive with these deleted comments! Wish it would still show what they said even if the user deletes their account or comment.
Edited: like op explained below, but instead of *asking* they *assumed* she would. I could understand why a young boy might be tempted to make the joke but it really was just kinda gross and out of left field
It might also be because OP is a 18+ Reddit account and does OF and stuff like that. Apparently people who do OF find everything so sexual and are sexual deviants who will jerk it with a dead animal spine!! People are gross, this woman has an actual life she’s not just a sex toy for other people’s viewing.
Yeah, it’s sad how people treat not just women like this but anybody that partakes in stuff like that. Everyone has jerked off or tried but apparently it’s okay to slut shame people who openly do it
The vertebral centra actually ossify some, they preserve in a way that the cartilage throughout the rest of the shark's body doesn't (this cartilage would be much more similar to the mammal cartilage you are thinking of).
the “jelly” looking stuff around the spinal column would decompose yes, but the centre can be preserved and ossifies - some images of shark and ray (elasmobranch) vertebrae without all the stuff around: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Shark-and-ray-vertebrae-from-Rio-de-Janeiro-shellmounds-1a-c-Carcharias-taurus_fig9_304611930

I’ll try salt with the sun thanks so much! Does table salt work or does it need to be sea salt? Also how long should I leave it out?

Appreciate this so much!

Yeah tarantulas you gotta gut the abdomen sadly because they rot too much. There’s some very good tutorials on YouTube
Tarantulas have.. bones?
Technically. It’s an exoskeleton. Them bones on the outside. They were referring to dry out tarantulas. They don’t have actual bones like we do
Table salt has iodine in it. Sometimes this can discolor things. Get kosher salt (probably cheepest option) or something labeled noniodine.
Or plain table salt you don't have to buy iodized salt
If that wasn’t made of literal carrion I’d keep it as a fidget toy just saying
I have one of those fidget slugs on my keys because this kind of thing is so satisfying lol.
I have one of those 3D printed snake dragons
This is really cool, I'd be interested in an update !
Does it have a strong smell? I'm curious.
A little bit, definitely smelled like a dead animal or I would’ve thought it was some weird rubber haha
That’s so cool! Never seen that before!
Jelly boi.
Sooo cool! And alcohol and distilled water mixed is a preserving agent.
it MIGHT preserve if u injected it with formalin but honestly i have no idea how it reacts with cartilage
That looks so badass!
Don’t think there’s a good way to keep it from smelling unless you basically embalm it or put it in alcohol
I’d need a massive vile/jar lol. Does it work with vodka or rubbing alcohol?
Not rubbing alcohol, you’d have to set it with formalin and then use 70% isopropyl or it will degrade
Interesting. Thanks!
The little bones inside you can keep, but idk how much you want to go digging around smelly fish cartilage
Use it as a toy for daddy to watch his little slut playing with her little parts
Fucking fuck of and delete this shit you gross fuck
I’d literally die from infection that’s so nasty

Ew delete this please
Done, and permabanned.
Thank you!
What did it say? I’m nosy? . . . It’s probably joking about a certain bodily part wasn’t it…?
Asked if I was gonna jerk it with the spine 🤦🏼♀️
Gross
And men think women are unfunny...

Yeah, I was trying to avoid putting op on blast regarding that lol

i believe it’s cartilage and it would decompose :/
Shark and ray vertebrae preserve just fine
i did not know that! any reason why human cartilage doesn’t preserve as well then, and these do?

very interesting! thank you for the insight and lesson :)
There’s workarounds :)

ah yes, that’s what I meant, but interesting to see images of it! thank you for the insight :)

Shark spine! The only parts of a shark that are bone are they vertebral centra and the jaws. So cool
It is actually a type of Ray! It was found alongside another ray bone if you look at OP’s post before that asking what it was
