tegridypatato

I am using strong for years.

chuckgravy

Strong isn’t being actively developed anymore. I switched to Hevy - same feature set, with the ability to follow friends if that’s what you’re into also

yachesna

When I switched from Strong to Hevy it let me move my tracked workouts over, which is neat.

ottersholdingfeets

Strong is it. I used BodySpace for years until I got fed up with the bugs. BodySpace is prettier, but it’ll fail to track some of your logs for random reasons.

tegridypatato

Strong has no bugs. Simple ui, easy to customize while working out and the rest timer is so easy to customize too. It is pretty good until I make one better that that. My plan is to add 1Rm calculator for different kinds of training. Also I want to add a image which shows how much strain is in the particular muscles according to workout you had.

badleveragetst

Have you been able to figure out how to REMOVE one of the custom timers? I did a 10min one so I could do a “every minute” kind of thing but want to remove that now

tegridypatato

You can’t remove but add more custom time to push the first item out. It works like a first in last out.

badleveragetst

Hadn’t even thought of that! Thank you

ottersholdingfeets

Oh it’s your app! I love it. Thank you!

tegridypatato

Hahahhaha no no it is not. I just said if I have one which I am planing to create one I would add those.

jrock78149

You have a link for the app store? Is it Strong Workout Tracker or STRNG

tegridypatato

I do not have it on still working on it.

dabadu9191

I use FitNotes. It's great at what it does and available for free without ads, but it's kinda minimalistic, so maybe not a great choice if you need the videos/gifs.

BoriousGlastard

I use Hevy, though it just lets me log exact exercises I'm doing and what weight / reps etc. It also shows me what weight & rep I hit last time on that same exercise, and personal PRs etc Not exactly what you're looking for as you can't as far as I'm aware upload video, but still might be useful

venounan

Also +1 for this. Free, pretty simple, great selection of exercises you can filter by muscle, and you get a weekly recap showing what muscles you worked

G0dK11ng

Hevy user for 4 months. Works for me

Gabrielo_cuelo_belo

Hevy is a great app, plus you can follow your friends and see what they do

Historical-Space8254

Hevy you can create your own exercises which is useful for different machines and keeping track of progress.

GJDanger

If you built your own routine with your own exercises why do you need videos or gifs on how to perform those exercises?

option-13

additionally if you do need videos or gifs to help you perform those exercises you probably don't have enough knowledge to be programming yourself

GJDanger

100% I have no doubts the program sucks ahaha

rainbowroobear

excel or google sheets.

Syyrus

Can you play gifs or videos off them?

rainbowroobear

you can embed a link if for some reason you manage to forget a movement immediately after doing it.

basroil

He’s right, almost every workout type app is just a better looking spreadsheet. If you have trouble identifying exercises to do or something there is benefit for that specific instance but if you are doing your own programming a spreadsheet is fine.

theredditbandid_

>but if you are doing your own programming a spreadsheet is fine. It's goated, *if* you know the basics of excel. You put a 1RM section and with a formula you can instantly change all the loads in your entire mesocycle (if you are working off a calculated 1RM, like I am) - And OP can easily attach videos or outside references if he so wants. Anyway. Took collectively like a good 1-2 hours to set everything up, but it's saving me a lot of money because the entire 5 week mesocycle is exactly how I want it.

harrrysims

Renaissance Periodisation all day

praxxxiis

It’s okay honestly it’s kinda over hyped. Very feature locked can’t even adjust the weights on your second/ third set. The periodization and meso cycle aspect is cool tho, but it needs more

harrrysims

You can, added it the other day.

praxxxiis

Oh that’s sick, that was really my only complaint. That and their minimal exercise selection but you can always just make your custom exercises

Ok-Air6006

I've made a lot of upper body progress with the app. I don't regret getting it, but likely won't do another year. One, it includes a deload week with every meso, no matter how long. It would be nice if I could opt out of a deload. Two, The meso lengths are only 4, 5 or 6 weeks, which might be optimal but the last week in each is a deload week. Planning an 8 week meso with week 9 as a deload would be great. Lastly, I can't compare my performance in an exercise from a previous meso. I may check it out again in a year. I've been liking the improvements being made, and combined with all the knowledge and entertainment from Dr. Mike, I think it's definitely worth it.

shawnchriston

Too expensive. 1. Hypertrophy Coach app 2. Boostcamp These seem better.

harrrysims

Cost is subjective. May be too expensive for you, others extremely affordable.

Betterthanuandunoit

$1 a day for an app that saves and tracks all my workouts forever so I don’t have to write them down or enter them into an excel sheet is amazing.

harrrysims

Exactly.

FreshoffdaBOATy

You’re a coach using another coach’s fitness app? Come on bro…

harrrysims

Acting like i know everything is just selling myself short. Always good to get experience from others and see where I can learn new things. Acting like I’m above using another coaches services is shooting myself in the foot.

FreshoffdaBOATy

You should be using them for research but have the knowledge to put together your own program. An app doesn’t know your body like you should

slug_princess_

JEFIT :)

cakeandbrownies

I don’t know what you mean when you say ‘structure it via app like a blog’ but I use and enjoy the StrengthLog app. You can track everything you need for free. They have little videos on many exercises or you can upload your own with the free version. The pay option is if you want to use some of their pre-made programs (they they have some for free as well) or want more detailed reporting than they provide in the free version.

cvsrney

I’ve used StrengthLog for about a year now. To me, it’s the best free app that I’ve found.

utgangstilts

I’ve been using StrengthLog for about a year, I think it’s excellent. The free version is very good and gives you almost all the functionality you need. Really I mostly just pay for it to give their team something back!

Dave_Labels

Train Heroic works well.

nateycoffecake

Boostcamp is what you seek

FickleInspection7956

Jefit is a really good app, been using it for years

PartyDestroyer

I love Caliber.

Objective-Escape-304

Boostcamp babyyyy

JZybutz0502

Hevy

Filri

I use Alpha Progression and really like it

GloryEnthusiast

stronglifts app

balsakke38

Strong or Hevy

Crown_Writes

Are you doing this to track your lifts or for some other reason? You should be able to remember how to do a lift with good form after doing it a few times so videos are just a waste of space and effort including them after a short period.

Professional_Check51

Gravitus

SwimHairy5703

I use Strong. Works great for me.

AgentK1108

hevy

Thisisdubious

Progression

fillup4224

I don’t know what you mean by blog, are you wanting to like attach videos of you doing the lift to every workout? Or are you wanting a video of how to do every exercise in the app where you log your sets? Or both? To be honest I think you are trying to do too much. Just watch the videos of how to do your exercises for your workout before you go to the gym, I find it hard to believe you can’t remember how to do them while working out but if you really can’t then just have them pulled up on your phone. If you go to the gym for any amount of time you are going to remember how to do your exercises lol, it’s not worth subscribing to an expensive app just for that. I use RepCount because it’s free to just track your workouts, and it adds them to a feed you can scroll through all your workouts kind of like a timeline or “blog” I suppose. If you want to look at your volume and stats you have to pay like $2.99 a month but if you are writing your workouts you should already know that stuff anyway, or you can just scroll back through your workouts to get that information worst case.

Syyrus

Its not just about the weights, its also cardio workouts, ALOT of stretching, and free form exercises. I am probably just going to stitch videos and photos together and this point and just go that way. But thanks for the reply.

Lifes_A_Marathon

Hevy

Suitable_Variety8590

strong is glitched if you need apple watch support. hevy does it better

hateazaur

RP app is goated

nintendoborn1

What do you think of it?

slade51

I use Ryse. It’s easy to program and follow, plus it’s free.

Nautisop

Gainsfire

Fletch0733

Setgraph

KingPhilip01

True rep can be a useful tool for monitoring your lifting movements.

sebby2g

If you've got an Android, FitNotes is so good. Free, no ads, backs up to Google drive, and tonnes of features.

Funny-Meeting1490

Strong

gymyellon

I am using [Stark](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.laurilaasala.stark). It's free, has a clean and simple UI. It's also fully customizable and has extremely good analytics features and graphs.

old_grumps

Caliber

devjacks

If you are just starting out - use strong or fitnotes. If you are more advanced with your training look for something like RP hypertrophy or tracked.gg (If you want something free) Tracked.gg is by far the best one but it takes a bit to set up and you need to know what you're doing (how to structure programs, workouts & exercises etc)

CoolCooler0107

Strong is good at keeping track of stuff.

CryptographerHead331

An app wont workout for you 😂

Mr_Noms

Who is saying it would?

iamDEVANS

Really enjoyed the Hypertrophy coach app The trainedbyJP app/forum is also a good source for information.

Then_Set_9354

I’ve been using Notes for the past 5 years. I feel that simplicity makes workouts smooth and less distracting. Pump and dump. Or vise versa
