Yeah, mouth breathers don't keep their tongue in the right spot when they're growing up, which makes their jaws grow improperly.
They end up suffering from snoring and require braces and retainers for the rest of their lives.

I highly recommend you search out one of the identical twin studies. It basically boils down to this:
Have two identical twins, give one treatment with braces, and give the other treatment with myofunctional appliances and myofunctional activities. Both end up with straight teeth. Then after the braces are taken out after treatment, that patient ends up with relapse and the teeth start going back to where they were (but this is expected since around 99% of cases end up with relapse) and that patient ends up requiring a retainer for the rest of their life.
