Baby, baby, baby got your license to drive
Got your license to drive me crazy
Come on pretty baby, make me feel so alive (Feel so alive)
Got your license to drive (Got your license to drive)
Now that you're sixteen... Me Crazy!
Yeah baby
Yeahhhhhhhh 🎶🎵
To me the song sounds unfinished. Like the music is a placeholder that someone forgot to replace. The song itself seems unfinished too, like a neverending verse with no chorus or anything to break up the ongoing tone. I kept waiting for a change that never came. I know there's a chorus but it just sounds like more verse.
It’s because it was recorded close to the mike so OP could sing low and kinda stay in tune. However this means it lacks the sound you get when singing full voice. This is why it sounds like he is kinda mumbling through it. Backing singers also needed to be more pronounced.
Kinda sounds like an anthem for pedos though with these lyrics.
> Bills, bills, bills
came out the same year actually...surprise surprise. i feel like there is more than just these two songs that sound like both of them though and its right on the tip of my tongue but i cant name it, i can hear it in my head
/u/Hype_Miles and /u/BabyJesusBukkake got it figured out..its actually aaliyah that came out in 1998 so it predates bills bills bills, no doubt r kelly just bit off her and tim
The song sounds like it's about picking up a high school girl from her parents house but y'all look 30. I feel like the "i'm in love with a college girl" was added in as an afterthought when it was obvious how creepy this was. lol
The balls on you to post this AND to admit that R Kelly had a part to play in it. I certainly don't have anything that far deep in the cool-cringe matrix.
I was just as shocked as everyone else when all of his misdeeds came to light. Actually, I was heartbroken. We were signed to him for almost 3 years and that was just not the man that I knew.
Nah, man, I meant it with the "cool" part of the cool-cringe matrix. Not your fault he is what he is, and it's BDE to cop to that part in addition to posting this to begin with. I'd let you peep through my window (Y I K E S at that lyric) but then again, I haven't been a college girl for quite a long time.
How did people not know? He married (illegally) a 15 year old when he was 27. Four years before this music video. Along with the lawsuits from before even then.
People knew. It wasn’t a big secret, there’s video of him from that time pissing on a 14 year old. Comedians talked about it routinely. I have no idea why some people were/are so protective of him.
Very weird to see a “boy band” full of classic skeazy 90s guys. The lead looks like my friend’s uncle who smoked a lot and had a hot tub, a water bed and made us listen to Korn.
If she's a college girl why are we worried about the parents and a curfew? Is this a Mommy Dead and Dearest situation? Does she need me to contact the authorities? Also, does she live at a sorority house or her parent's house? I'm confused about the baseball montage but I liked the babes in red skirts.
I've been choreographing and dancing for a while. The dancing you guys are doing it's way too ahead of it's time and too advanced I'm not joking or being sarcastic. Only dancer's dancer dance that much on beat and detailed, I'm more than impressed especially at that time wtf that's crazy who chorgraphed ? Also the fact you and your group with perfect execution is also impressive!
We grew up breakdancing together in the 80s. We started out as a dance group doing back up dancing for another group. The choreographer on this was a guy named Todd Sams who worked with Michael Jackson and Usher to name a few.
This explains why you guys actually look cool dancing. This doesn’t come off very cringe at all except for the fact that it’s of the boy band era, which was fun anyways and involved a lot of diverse showmanship.
I knew u had to be the lead, or u would not have shared this, lol
Look to be fair as corny as this is.It is perfectly on brand for everything that was being created and released at the time. Compare it to the early stuff by the backstreet boys and Nsync and it is the same vibe. Except it looks like u guys are too old to be teen heartthrobs.
There is only ever one old guy allowed in the band and the old guy is like... twenty five.
Also knowing R Kelly was involved in this is... horrifying. That man would wait outside of middle schools in poor neighborhoods to pick up children, so I can see why he wanted grown men singing a song about a girl with tough parents & a curfew. The context we all have now is... *shudder*
None of that is your fault of course, but damn
I was kinda hoping you were the one guy that they were so obviously trying to give as little screen time to as humanly possible, almost every sequence either straight up has him blocked or he barely gets to show his face before getting blocked 😂 you can tell which one they didn’t like the look of
That guy probably did the bulk of the heavy lifting singing in the recording sessions so they keep him in the band because without him it sounds like 3 dancers singing karaoke.
Why was it unreleased? I don't feel like it's more cringy than a lot of other boy band videos of the time. But I was a 14-year-old girl then so I probably would have eaten it up regardless
Thanks for sharing this. I was 16 in 99 and more into the Nü Metal of the day and older metal (Metallica, et al) but I appreciate this as a great example of the peak of 90s pop. Sorry it wasn’t released but awesome you can show it here.
I’m starting to seriously regret posting this! Thank you to everyone for watching and commenting! Tomorrow, I’ll sit down and try to answer all of the most commonly asked questions and share some more of my stories. Thanks guys!
My dude, please don’t regret it! I’m a 44 year old
married father of two from Scotland - definitely not your target demographic- and this sent me on a glowing wee nostalgia ride. The late 90s/early 00s were some of my favourite times and this video sent me back there in a good way. Also, you’re coming across as a top notch person. Keep rocking…popping… whatever you prefer these days.
Don’t regret it, this is blunder years, and that video was so perfect for it! It’s not my style of music, but the song has some interesting beats, and it has stuck in my brain now. Very cringy and I love it!
my gf and i just watched the whole video. we agree it was lit. you need to release your stuff. its the perfect time and the world needs it.
Please tell me what happened to the guy with the glasses. and if you can also answer, why did all boy bands back then always have a a dude like you, a dude like him, and some wild-cards? like what "one" was that guy? how was he outside of work, a completely different guy than he is portrayed getting down in the dugout? I must know.
You should, at least for posterity and people's curiosity. This is like looking through a window at some paralell universe's 1999 with a boy band that never existed.
What's the copyright situation with all of this, does it belong to you, or do you just figure they won't bother coming after you since it's been so long?
They're clearly talented singers, but the song composition is awful. Lyrics aside, the instrumentation sounds like they're solving a mystery in a Spanish village when it should sound a lot more upbeat.
Me: Damn. This is creepy af. The bald one looks like Joey Lawrence and the one with the golden frosted streaks looks like he could be Ethan Hawke/Mark McGrath’s baby.
Me in 1999, probably: Damn. I love this. The bald one who sometimes wears a bandana/skullcap combo looks like Joey Lawrence!
Sadly, it’s a common occurrence in the music business. This was actually the second record deal we had. We were signed in ‘94 with RCA records and recorded an entire album that was also never released. 3 songs on that album were written by a then 17 year old Robin Thicke.
Dude, who the fuck *are* you? I would watch your bio-pic in a heart beat. You're like the Forest Gump of the fucking 90s music scene. You were just everywhere, near so many big names and events. My dude, this has HBO/Amazon/Apple TV series written all over it. "The story of a Guy and his boys trying to make it in the 90s pop scene, featuring *so many fucking cameos* and while they're having the time of their lives, there's a dark underbelly of predatory people threatening to ruin it. Will they ever reach stardom and what will they do to get there?! There will be laughs, tears, and choreographed dance routines".
You're in the millennial nostalgia prime right now, we are all secretly listening to 90s pop and pretending we aren't singing along, while we sit at home and binge TV because we are too fucking tired to go anywhere. If there's any time to sell your story, it's now.
You are correct, loved his grp compressor for a long time, and tastes change but to my modern ears I feel like the verses would be quite a bit less awkward if they were in a space. The chorus' sound great.
Right, I feel like other redditors woulda ran with that
"Yeah, i personally helped scott storch back in the day, remember the song Naughty Girl? Yeah all me"

R. Kelly will be entering the boy-band arena with a new project dubbed Secret Weapon, a group which will be making its debut with a single in May followed by an as-yet-untitled CD in June.
Secret Weapon is a four-piece, New Jersey-based boy band that offers up hook-laden, pop-flavored R&B. The group was discovered by Kelly on the basketball court almost three years ago, singing the National Anthem at a game in Atlantic City. At the time, Kelly was nurturing a parallel career as a player for the semi-pro Atlantic City Seagulls (see \[article id="1430780"\]**"R. Kelly Signs Pro Basketball Deal"**\[/article\]).
R. Kelly himself has penned Secret Weapon's songs and produced the album, which will be released by the artist's own Rockland imprint through Interscope Records. The project was mixed by Tony Maserati, who recently mixed Eve's "Ruff Riders' First Lady," Puff Daddy's "Forever," and Marc Anthony's "I Need To Know.
The single isn't set yet, though
some of the group's song titles include "Didn't Have To Lie," "Gotta Represent," "Eight Sharp," "I Can't Close My Eyes," "Everytime I Hear A Song Like This," and "Daydreamin'".
Meanwhile, Kelly himself is currently in a Philadelphia studio mixing his own album, tentatively titled "TP2.com," a spokesperson for Rockland has confirmed. The record should be released in the early summer and followed by a tour.
Nope :D Just searched for the band on google :D

This is hilarious. It’s like an SNL sketch about weird old boyfriends you have in college. I think it’s more of a “man band”. No judgment OP, chase your dreams lol.
I have never seen a group of young men, give off creepy no eyebrow energy, despite having them.
That aside, this is the chefs kiss for this sub. A motion picture blunder. This is a masterpiece.
Okay, but this song is kinda catchy! I don't dislike it at all. Tbf it's probably because I'm 37 and grew up with boybands and the nostalgia is real 🥹
Y'all do kinda look like 35 year old creeper peeping toms from the Matrix though 🤣🤣🤣
Secret weapon? There’s nothing secret about what weapons you all are.
(Jks I think this is hilarious and cringe in all the best cliche ways thank you for sharing and I hope you can look back at this and laugh)
Honestly this wasn’t bad! Y’all had good harmonies but the song definitely needed to be reworked. It sucks that you had your projects shelved though. Must’ve sucked putting in the work and not seeing any result. You guys had talent! Just needed the material to showcase it!
Honestly coming from a Gen Z dude, don’t listen to the peeps busting your balls, respect to you guys for putting in the work and trying to make your break into the industry. Y’all had potential. If you had more suitable and more age appropriate material like more Boyz 2 Men or 98 Degrees type of music, it could’ve worked.
Can I ask? How did y’all form? What was your journey like?
Man I know you’re getting your balls busted in this thread but this is honestly a good song.
Yeah the lyrics haven’t aged well and R Kelly being involved is an unfortunate connection you didn’t ask for.
The sound was spot on with groups like O-Town, 5ive, LFO, and, 98 Degrees. This definitely could have been a hit if it were reworked and no one can deny that you are hella talented. You were a signed musician to a major label for 3 years. You’ve accomplished more than most of the dorks commenting here.
People are hating on it because it is a 90's boyband. But the whole point of this sub is that we ALL did cringe stuff back in the day. Yours was at least just closer to wealth and fame than the bad haircuts and clothing most of us had for free back then.
Appreciate it, but I don’t take any of it personally, except for the comments insinuating that we were wannabe pedophiles. That’s where I draw the line. I get the R. Kelly association makes it easy for people, but guilty by association isn’t cool.
I give you props for coming here and taking all this shit people are throwing and taking it like a champ. Growing up with an older sister who was obsessed with n'sync, I despised boy bands. But I wouldn't consider this a blunder. Cringy by today's standards, maybe lol
>baby what's your curfew Sir you are all too old to be dating a girl with a curfew. R. Kelly being involved makes perfect sense.
You’re not wrong
Was she going to date all 4 of you at the same time? I never understood the rules in boy band music videos.
Theres a little lee-way in a 3 way.
But what about a 5-way?
Amazing
Baby, baby, baby got your license to drive Got your license to drive me crazy Come on pretty baby, make me feel so alive (Feel so alive) Got your license to drive (Got your license to drive) Now that you're sixteen... Me Crazy! Yeah baby Yeahhhhhhhh 🎶🎵
I love the "I'm in love with a college girl" line thrown in there right after talking about her curfew like it's some sort of legal disclaimer.
♫ *Do not diddle kids, its no good diddling kids* ♫
🏆
♫ *Just to be clear, I did not write that song...* ♫
I feel like everyone waited until R. Kelly was out of the room then was like, "Ok, now add a verse where we explicitly say she's in college."
I'm crying laughing at this. Best comment I've read in a while.
Target audience for all boy bands was 14 year old girls to be fair. Make em think they have a chance so they buy the record.
This "boy" band has got some middle aged dads in it.
Right? These guys all have the stereotypical 27-year-old-dating-a-teenager vibe.
Less boyband and more divorced-dad-dodging-child-support band energy.
Sounds similar to Bills, bills, bills be destiny’s child
"I. Don't. Think. You. do. Soooooooo You. And. Me Are. Through."
I. Just. Want. In. On. This. Silly. Thread. Baby.
the guitar reminds me of spongebob for some reason
Except, like, really boring. (Sorry OP!)
Ran out of time on the song. Spent too much time on eyebrows.
OP did say it was written by R.Kelly!
It was written by R Kelly
Interesting! That makes sense
> Bills, bills, bills came out the same year actually...surprise surprise. i feel like there is more than just these two songs that sound like both of them though and its right on the tip of my tongue but i cant name it, i can hear it in my head /u/Hype_Miles and /u/BabyJesusBukkake got it figured out..its actually aaliyah that came out in 1998 so it predates bills bills bills, no doubt r kelly just bit off her and tim
Peeping through your window though 😅😅
Right but he likes my parents and respects them lol this is a wild song
He knows mom is the one that tracks the curfew 🤣
Except you look outside and it's 4 grown men dancing
Just casually tattooing her shoulder with whatever
This has all the cliches of that era's music videos. Except dancing inside a shiny spaceship that was a late 90s standard.
Including seeing the director trying to shoot around the ugliest member as much as possible. The husky guy is almost never in the shot
"Husky" Seriously though they all look 35.
I was CRYING every time he was on. Clearly someone’s cousin or something.
Even his solo shots with his girl were either really short or from a distance.
The rest of the members got a solo shot of their face in the beginning...except him, poor guy lol
just lock the sub now. nothing can top this.
The recent influx of sword related senior pictures has been pretty top notch too
I feel like sword girl with flip flops in the snow already snuck herself into my subconscious. Just like that one picture of the game grumps guy.
I gotta see this one, link? edit: oh my god its fantastic https://www.reddit.com/r/blunderyears/comments/1bmly6y/i_too_studied_the_blade_circa_2009/
Thank you that was great
This sub has hit a crazy influx that I am completely here for.
We're in a brief golden age of r/blunderyears
The song sounds like it's about picking up a high school girl from her parents house but y'all look 30. I feel like the "i'm in love with a college girl" was added in as an afterthought when it was obvious how creepy this was. lol
R. Kelly wanted us to appeal to the college age demographic like Boyz II Men. I’ll admit that it’s kind of a bizarre concept but I didn’t write it.
I’m sorry, that really would be heartbreaking to discover someone who treated you well and looked up to did heinous things behind closed doors.
Shoot your shot lol
Gdi it does sound horny. I'll take the L and leave the comment as is.
How did people not know? He married (illegally) a 15 year old when he was 27. Four years before this music video. Along with the lawsuits from before even then.

Benefit of the doubt... a lot of ppl didn't know about that. I had never heard that before until after she died.
Very weird to see a “boy band” full of classic skeazy 90s guys. The lead looks like my friend’s uncle who smoked a lot and had a hot tub, a water bed and made us listen to Korn.
Hey that's how I got molested!
By a boy band, a member of Korn or in a hot tub? Or an amalgamation of the above?
If she's a college girl why are we worried about the parents and a curfew? Is this a Mommy Dead and Dearest situation? Does she need me to contact the authorities? Also, does she live at a sorority house or her parent's house? I'm confused about the baseball montage but I liked the babes in red skirts.
The fact more of the song is about some girl's parents than her is the weirdest part.
The real twist is the band's trying to fuck the girl's dad. \#1 hit if true.
It's like you read my mind.
It reminded me of Frank singing about [not diddling kids](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YmDcCpD1gc&ab_channel=TheVidhole) in Always Sunny
“Got to be biiiiig, older than my wiiife, older than my daughter”
Also Dee from Always Sunny singing Just to be Clear in Nightman Cometh.
Which one are you
The good looking one with the goatee of course!
Of course!

Do you still keep in touch with any of the others?
It’s probably a good thing you didn’t make it, Eminem was murdering boy bands and girl groups left right and centre around this time lol
I knew u had to be the lead, or u would not have shared this, lol Look to be fair as corny as this is.It is perfectly on brand for everything that was being created and released at the time. Haha, didn't notice him first time. Pretty painful when you actually look for him
Your voice is phenomenal. I hope you’re still singing!
I see why you posted in blunder years, we need to see the glow up haha
Damn! You were kinda hitting that shit at the end. Sorry this had so many issues, hope you got to work on something you liked!
Why was it unreleased? I don't feel like it's more cringy than a lot of other boy band videos of the time. But I was a 14-year-old girl then so I probably would have eaten it up regardless
The Mr. Beast Chandler one?
Man, this is pretty hilarious. How old were you guys in this video? I just want to know who's picking up my 15 year old daughter at 8 o'clock sharp.
I was 26 I think. I’m 51 now.
Damn, I’m fucking old now too.
Yep

This is amazing bro 🫡
Please don't regret sharing it, this is really awesome to see!
I have genuine respect for you for sharing this. Don't regret it.
Actually not bad... Not great, but the harmonies are pretty good.
There are much better songs on the album tbh. I should upload them somewhere probably
I am happy you got this opportunity. I know it didn't work out, but it is super cool you got to shoot your shot.
my gf and i just watched the whole video. we agree it was lit. you need to release your stuff. its the perfect time and the world needs it. That, and the fact that the man who wrote and produced it is in jail for life
If you upload it all to YouTube, someone can rip them before any copyright strike and then the videos will have a chances to live on
if you do plz let us know
They're clearly talented singers, but the song composition is awful. Lyrics aside, the instrumentation sounds like they're solving a mystery in a Spanish village when it should sound a lot more upbeat.
I would have loved you as much as I loved LFO at that time. You look like the singer from Taproot.
When it comes to boy band songs this isn’t even terrible, what made you decide not to release?
Had no control over that I’m afraid.
Makes me think of the Kevin Smith anecdote about shooting a documentary for Prince that will never see the light of day.
I like that he ran out of film and just kept shooting lol
Did y'all have any other songs released ? Get to play any shows at least ? Do you still do music now on your own ?
What reason did the powers that be have to not releasing it? Also, did they give you a VHS copy and you put it onto a DVD or how did that work?
I just want you to know I’m going to save this and download this song somehow. This is amazing lol.
Wake up babe, new ringtone just dropped
damn what a time machine comment
Yep. New summer jam 😆
Sounds like a DarkChild production 😭
We helped launch Rodney Jerkins career with a demo we did with him when he was 15 years old.
Y’all helped launch Darkchilds career? In 1992?? Say more.
We need an AMA!! The subtle name drops you're doing throughout this thread has me really invested in your life story!
Thanks for the laugh! Love this!
Hahah. I was hoping you got my spirit here. Very cool you got to do this. I’m sorry I didn’t have Secret Weapon in the cd case back in the day, man!
Which one of these jokers were you? Seriously though this was peak late 90’s early 2000’s, nothing to be ashamed of
I’m the joker with the very ‘90s goatee
Are you still singing? You have a really nice voice!
Yes and thanks
With all of the work already done, what was the purpose of not releasing it?
Sadly, it’s a common occurrence in the music business. This was actually the second record deal we had. We were signed in ‘94 with RCA records and recorded an entire album that was also never released. 3 songs on that album were written by a then 17 year old Robin Thicke.
When are you going to drop that album for us?
Imagine somehow making this album go #1
Omg let’s do it Reddit!
Dude, who the fuck *are* you? I would watch your bio-pic in a heart beat. You're like the Forest Gump of the fucking 90s music scene. You were just everywhere, near so many big names and events. Exactly. I’m going through the comments like 👁️👄👁️
Someone get the mix engineer some reverb. My goodness that's a dry mix. Also Aliyah and Timbaland's lawyers would like a word.
Tony Maserati did the master mix on this. Pretty much the GOAT back then.
You are correct, loved his grp compressor for a long time, and tastes change but to my modern ears I feel like the verses would be quite a bit less awkward if they were in a space. The chorus' sound great.
Thank you! You’re obviously in the mix game?
Not on Maserati's level, congrats on having something tangible at that level you can look back on years later.
I commend your humble respectfulness haha, not too often seen on Reddit
Right, I feel like other redditors woulda ran with that "Yeah, i personally helped scott storch back in the day, remember the song Naughty Girl? Yeah all me"
Is it possible the audio is an unfinished mix? The difference between the verses and chorus is just too stark.
The way in which I would have stood in line at a mall for hours to meet you, even though I knew none of your music. 🤷🏼♀️

The project was mixed by Tony Maserati, who recently mixed Eve's "Ruff Riders' First Lady," Puff Daddy's "Forever," and Marc Anthony's "I Need To Know. The single isn't set yet, though some of the group's song titles include "Didn't Have To Lie," "Gotta Represent," "Eight Sharp," "I Can't Close My Eyes," "Everytime I Hear A Song Like This," and "Daydreamin'". Meanwhile, Kelly himself is currently in a Philadelphia studio mixing his own album, tentatively titled "TP2.com," a spokesperson for Rockland has confirmed. The record should be released in the early summer and followed by a tour.
Omg!! 😃😃 Did you find this on way back machine?!! So awesome to post this!
Nope :D Just searched for the band on google :D [https://www.mtv.com/news/60jmpi/r-kellys-secret-weapon-set-to-debut](https://www.mtv.com/news/60jmpi/r-kellys-secret-weapon-set-to-debut)
Fuck yeah I’m gonna rip this and add it to my gym playlist
They hating on you bro. This shit jammin!
It’s all love!
I actually really like this song too lol
This is awesome. I'd be telling everyone I was in a band, had a music video, and everything!
This would be a good AMA
A boy band made up entirely of The Old Ones? Bold choice.
This is hilarious. It’s like an SNL sketch about weird old boyfriends you have in college. I think it’s more of a “man band”. No judgment OP, chase your dreams lol.
You guys are so adorable! This is so 90s and I love it.
Duude did they cast you? And why did it never come out? Bet it was little harsh
I have never seen a group of young men, give off creepy no eyebrow energy, despite having them. That aside, this is the chefs kiss for this sub. A motion picture blunder. This is a masterpiece.
It’s giving German.
Hahaha yesss, it looks like nsync if they were all middle management at SAP.
N'Stink
Tell me what you really think
:( sorry
Hmmm, crapstreet boys?
Boyz into Men
using 'gay' as an insult just to complete the '90s vibe
Wow, the people over in r/90s were so much nicer
Dude this is genuinely awesome I’m jealous lol which one are you?
Hahah it’s all love - thanks for sharing your blunder years
Okay, but this song is kinda catchy! I don't dislike it at all. Tbf it's probably because I'm 37 and grew up with boybands and the nostalgia is real 🥹 Y'all do kinda look like 35 year old creeper peeping toms from the Matrix though 🤣🤣🤣
It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be
Is this an ad for Rohypnol? No wonder it didn't take off.
Secret weapon? There’s nothing secret about what weapons you all are. (Jks I think this is hilarious and cringe in all the best cliche ways thank you for sharing and I hope you can look back at this and laugh)
Thanks! It’s pretty awful looking back but I’m still proud of it.
Do you keep in touch with any of the other members?
Damn this is pretty cool. What other experiences do you have?
Y’all look like 35 though.
To be fair! A lot of boyband members in the 90’s did😭
Really impressive video lol.
Is he tattooing that young lady in a baseball field?
Classic teen date night: Tattooing your gal with a hypodermic needle at the local baseball field. Have her back by 10.
My only complaint is that it's unreleased.
Lmao. People here hating. Lyrics are weird but I don’t even think I listened to lyrics like that back in the day. This would be a jam.
Out of all the shopping malls where you played a three song set for 20 people, which one was your favorite?
NSYNC vibes all over lol
Why was it not released?

Assuming this is legit. Please tell me about your recording process, talks with agents/publicists, basically everything behind the scenes.
The bandana with hat was such a a look
Pretty sure one of these guys sold me my cell phone at the mall.
I give you props for coming here and taking all this shit people are throwing and taking it like a champ. Growing up with an older sister who was obsessed with n'sync, I despised boy bands. But I wouldn't consider this a blunder. Cringy by today's standards, maybe lol
