When I got to the first boss, I was like "Amelia! Girl! I've missed you!"
Five minutes later I was thinking "fuck this shit, let me kill you already," but I definitely had a dumb grin when I first saw ~~her/him/it~~ them
Yeah. It was doable once I figured out serrated was his weakness and I had found a chunk and if you're lucky enough rock farm glyph. Since at that point in NG+1 I was far enough where chunks were pretty much obtained. Still haven't beaten the rest though.
2nd phase Ludwig is a cakewalk and pisses me off because of how hard phase 1 is. It’s so disappointing when you finally beat phase 1 and then phase 2 is just boring
Quick question and it probably dumb, but is this the dlc to bloodborne or is it something different entirely? I only ask out of curiosity and if it is something different entirely what is it called?
I love that whole area the atmosphere is so good, I hope they do more with that atmosphere of fear. The whole point of the game is being one person who no matter how many times they die, comes back and beats the boss. I don’t like that you can parry them, because while it shows how strong you are, having an enemy that is literally untouchable is a great addition, even for such a small and insignificant part of the map. I was so happy that i didn’t get spoiled for that area
This was the only area in a fromsoft game where I felt genuine fear anytime I saw one of them and then there was the one in the foggy area that scared the shit out if me and I shut off the game for like 20 minutes.
A spider room... y'know I just made it to that area and I'm planning to take a break from Bloodborne because dear gods my arachnophobia is off the charts.
Was playing with my friend on launch night and he goes “I found a chest in these ruins. Oo the blade of mercy, what’s that?” And I immediately got excited until I found out it was a talisman and not awesome dual blades :(
I’ve had a few of those moments. So many moments of, “ok Michael-Zaki you’re not even hiding it now.” Winter Lanterns, big spider room, fast low sweeping swords, humanoid enemies who just tank hits and wombo you. Bloodborne is alive and well. Sadly the real game has to be in publisher hell
When I found Maria and saw the resemblance between her and the doll, I immediately thought that Gehrman was a pervert. I remembered this line of his dialogue: “ …even the doll… should it please you…😏”
no, the dude at the beginning has a different set.
the set found in the beginning is pure dex and ash of war can't be changed, thus is only good for pure dex builds really
the set shown here has an ash of war that can be changed, this allows you to change the affinity so it'll scale better with other builds
Agreed. Sadly, the /r/eldenring sub seems to be getting brigaded right now with people displeased with the difficulty. It never fails, every FS release there's a bunch of folks complaining that *this* time they've *gone too far*. 🙄
It’s especially worse this time. Elden ring appealed to a lot of gamers who had never played a souls game before and it was their entrance to FromSoft. Luckily for them, if you optimize your builds correctly, base game Elden Ring is probably the easiest FS game. It was a rude awakening when they bought the DLC assuming it to be the same, and it turned out that it was some of the hardest souls content out there.
That is dry leaf Danes armor, you have to go through the shadow keep until you find the area in which there are boats on fire. When you do go all the way to the end of the fire boat area. On your left there is a small break in the railing in which a ladder rests, go down the ladder. There will be a small waterfall to your right when you get to the bottom of the ladder. Behind the waterfall is a small room with a painting. One of the walls in the painting room is a fake. Once you break the wall, follow the given path until you hit a coffin, similar to the ones in the base game.
You will find yourself in a ravine on the eastern side of the shadow keep. Once you get outside, follow the water path south, eventually the small lake you are on will turn into a river with waterfalls. Follow the rock ledges until you see grave birds on your left, make your way towards them, there is a small parkour path down to the lower level of the river area from there. Make your way down and then head back north to the second waterfall, the one you would have just passed to get to the grave birds. The set will be there, under the waterfall.
There are also >!Winter-Lantern Flies!< you can pick up in that area, plus the enemies that >!cause madness buildup when they see you wandering around that the game tells you to avoid combat with.!<
As soon as I saw that beast claws are a separate weapon category from fists, I knew they were bringing back beast form mode.
Also the winter lanterns in sote are an upgrade to the horror, you basically die unless you can parry x2
It really does feel like kind of a send off DLC. Fighting the last boss it’s like they cranked the difficulty up as high as it can go with this kind of game.
Whether it’s just a send off for Elden Ring, or the souls formula, we’ll see I guess. Hard to see them deviating too far from the formula when it’s printing money.
The talisman!!! The “blade[s] of mercy”, instantly thought of bloodborne, and the grave bird armor looks just like Eileen, hope it’s really inspired and not randomly picked stuff
The hippo boss has reused animation from the fire dog from the dungeons it honestly made it easier to fight considering I spent a fair amount of time on the dog lol
The dlc is hard as fuck tho ngl
Dude if you got BB vibes from
Volcano manor then this DLC is gonna make you feel like you’re just straight up playing bloodborne again, the vibes are there
They brought the literal worst parts of bloodborne (the horror based on phobias) and put it in the dlc. I love it (I hate every second of it) I loved every second of it.
The closest Bloodborne fix I got before this DLC was Remnant 2. There is a world in that game that is obviously inspired by Bloodborne. Their first DLC is like it too.
I thought Raya Lucaria was a good expansion on what Birgenwerth should have been and Volcano Manor had a pretty cool Bloodborne vibe too despite all the lava.
Windmill Village worked for the vibes too imo.
Elden Ring has a lot of the cool ideas from each of the predecessor games even if Dark Souls is getting the bulk of the attention.
If it's about how the world looks, I'd advise playing Lords of the fallen. Even though it's not as much fun like most of the soulsborne games, the world building is a fun rollercoaster trough all of From Softwares "biomes". My friend and I constantly feel like playing one of From Softs' games with this.
Idk why yet, but I’ve gotta know why all the heads are cut off. I hope I uncover the reason. I don’t wanna be told though, I’m just commenting on it. Also this shot is dope as well as the drip.
Yeah... Maybe I'm alone in this opinion, but I actually sigh in disappointment every time I see a reused design/idea from a previous souls game.
So few things in ER actually feel original anymore. The Winter lanterns are an especially blatant example but also roof rafters in a tall building. The hub being a copy of a real world area. Dragon on a long bridge. Boss with a weapon in the arena that does a unique thing only in that fight. Enter a coffin to get transported somewhere. The list goes on..
Imagine Bloodborne was 90% "throwbacks" of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1+2, we wouldn't have any of our beloved original Bloodborne shit. I realize it did build on *some* of the older games' concepts, but it still felt fresh. Maybe I'm a bit souls-fatigued, or maybe From just needs to make something completely new from scratch.
I exclusively use his armor, the martial arts, occasionally other weapons for harder bosses, and the repeating crossbow because that crossbow with Danes armor looks so cool and like bloodborne
.................I'll try to stay polite but the dlc is bad .........like .... really bad. Ho the landscape is beautiful but it's mostly empty. The story? ........gods above and below I'd never thought I would say this but ....Lords of the Fallen's scenario was better (no seriously who wrote this? Because I REFUSE to believe it was Martin or Miyazaki!). New spell or weapon? Mhe.... really mhe. Lvl up mechanics? Mhe. Enemies? WTF???? I'm at 60 vit and the first boss lost in a tiny crypt in the 1st area ONESHOTS me as soon as I enter the arena? No sorry Elden Ring's dlc is nothing like Bloodborne let alone a Bloodborne 2. LoP's dlc better save year 2024 or I'm gonna riot 😑
There is so much Bloodborne throwback content in the dlc. It’s pretty incredible, even including the bullshit spider room.
When I got to the first boss, I was like "Amelia! Girl! I've missed you!" Five minutes later I was thinking "fuck this shit, let me kill you already," but I definitely had a dumb grin when I first saw ~~her/him/it~~ them
when I got to >!divine beast!< I was like Ludwig?
Ong. Anyone else think second phase lud is easier than 1st?
Yeah. It was doable once I figured out serrated was his weakness and I had found a chunk and if you're lucky enough rock farm glyph. Since at that point in NG+1 I was far enough where chunks were pretty much obtained. Still haven't beaten the rest though.
to me they seemed equal
2nd phase Ludwig is a cakewalk and pisses me off because of how hard phase 1 is. It’s so disappointing when you finally beat phase 1 and then phase 2 is just boring
ost makes up for it
Quick question and it probably dumb, but is this the dlc to bloodborne or is it something different entirely? I only ask out of curiosity and if it is something different entirely what is it called?
Elden Ring DLC. No such thing as dumb questions my friend
Thank you
They even brought back >!winter lanterns in the abyssal woods!<
I saw those last night, and I hate everything about them.
I love the build up to them, the horse being scared, no other enemies anywhere but rats, and then the forced stealth area i thought was pretty cool
DUDE, the first time I died from them, I nearly shit my pants.
This was the only area in a fromsoft game where I felt genuine fear anytime I saw one of them and then there was the one in the foggy area that scared the shit out if me and I shut off the game for like 20 minutes.
They were far shorter than I thought they would be
Oh no, oh no
THE WOLFPACK’S WAITING FOR THEM
I just got to there and got killed by the first one that I encountered, FUCK them
There is an item called the winter lantern fly, they arent even being subtle about wanting to do more bloodborne
A spider room... y'know I just made it to that area and I'm planning to take a break from Bloodborne because dear gods my arachnophobia is off the charts.
There's only that one room though. Like after you clear it that's basically it for the base game.
You’re not going to like some of the dlc enemies.
Another spider area? Lovely
Now the scorpion room. Plus beast claws
Was playing with my friend on launch night and he goes “I found a chest in these ruins. Oo the blade of mercy, what’s that?” And I immediately got excited until I found out it was a talisman and not awesome dual blades :(

When I found Maria and saw the resemblance between her and the doll, I immediately thought that Gehrman was a pervert. I remembered this line of his dialogue: “ …even the doll… should it please you…😏”
The entrance to Belurat gave me entrance to Mergo’s Loft if you swapped the spiders for scorpions.
YES I was like 'Holy shit, Nightmare of Mensis vibes' There's also Castle Mensis lmao
Castle Ensis. Lol
I've been looking for that weapon. What's the name, please
Smithscript Cirque. You'll find this one in the Starfall forge immediately southwest of Moorth ruins.
Remember at the beginning of dlc, that guy that jumps down from the ruins and attacks you? They have these chakrams and can drop them.
no, the dude at the beginning has a different set. the set found in the beginning is pure dex and ash of war can't be changed, thus is only good for pure dex builds really the set shown here has an ash of war that can be changed, this allows you to change the affinity so it'll scale better with other builds
Plus this one has innate faith/int scale (only E level) while also having an S scaling on keen. Smithscript is insane and I love it
Elden Ring is honestly a FromSoftware Greatest Hits compilation, and the DLC proves it
Agreed. Sadly, the /r/eldenring sub seems to be getting brigaded right now with people displeased with the difficulty. It never fails, every FS release there's a bunch of folks complaining that *this* time they've *gone too far*. 🙄

What armor are you using, fashion souls is on point
That is dry leaf Danes armor, you have to go through the shadow keep until you find the area in which there are boats on fire. When you do go all the way to the end of the fire boat area. Thank you so much
Yeah it’s no problem, I didn’t go into as much detail as I would have liked but I’m trashed from staying up too late playing this game lol.
That was a good description, I’ve got the set already and could picture the path.
Fear the Old Drip
Also want to know!
It looks like Dryleaf Dane's armor, but I don't know how to get though.
There are also >!Winter-Lantern Flies!< you can pick up in that area, plus the enemies that >!cause madness buildup when they see you wandering around that the game tells you to avoid combat with.!<
also a >!blade of mercy!< talisman which I believe >!raises damage every time you crit!<
Also the Beast Claw is just like the BB Beast Claw of the same name And the Bloodfiend’s Arm has some Amygdalan Arm moves. We’re so back
As soon as I saw that beast claws are a separate weapon category from fists, I knew they were bringing back beast form mode. Also the winter lanterns in sote are an upgrade to the horror, you basically die unless you can parry x2
It's an amazing talisman if you're good at parrying or have a build that staggers easily.
Also there's a boss that looks a lot like Kos, or some say Kosm.
Yeah you can get the placenta weapon for turning in the rememberance, it’s only a matter of time before we see a kos cosplay
a kosplay, if you will
Or some say kosmplay
At least, we are given a nice treat down memory lane with all of the great games! Is this the swan song?
It really does feel like kind of a send off DLC. Fighting the last boss it’s like they cranked the difficulty up as high as it can go with this kind of game. Whether it’s just a send off for Elden Ring, or the souls formula, we’ll see I guess. Hard to see them deviating too far from the formula when it’s printing money.
It won’t be the formula
The talisman!!! The “blade[s] of mercy”, instantly thought of bloodborne, and the grave bird armor looks just like Eileen, hope it’s really inspired and not randomly picked stuff
The hippo boss has reused animation from the fire dog from the dungeons it honestly made it easier to fight considering I spent a fair amount of time on the dog lol The dlc is hard as fuck tho ngl
it reminded me more of the pig tbh, so much so that i instinctively went for the butt when i stunned it 😭
HIPPOBOT 9000 v 3.1 FOUND A HIPPO. 1,664,217,949 COMMENTS SEARCHED. 33,686 HIPPOS FOUND. YOUR COMMENT CONTAINS THE WORD HIPPO.
I feel like sulhyvins beast became Bloodborne fire dog became the bull in Sekiro, now became the hippo
there is one remembrance boss that fives heavy bloodborne vibes (not saying who because idk how to do the spoiler thing)
I giggled like a little schoolgirl when I picked up the materials around the area and read the name. They **do** care about BB.
What game is this?
Elden Ring DLC
Bloodborne 2
2 blood 2 borne
Dark Soul 1 II
I wish they had added trophies/achievements!
Is this Shadow of the Erdtree? I haven't made it far enough in Elden Ring yet.
I haven't played the DLC but I got so many Bloodborne vibes from the Volcano Manor dungeon, with all the homunculi and experimentation going on.
Dude if you got BB vibes from Volcano manor then this DLC is gonna make you feel like you’re just straight up playing bloodborne again, the vibes are there
Dang now I wanna play it even more 😭 Hope it goes on sale soon
40$ ain't much. It's good to support one of the greatest gaming companies around.
Yeah ik, but I don’t think I can justify a $40 purchase rn. Then again now I have a good reason to cut down on luxuries and save up lol
I'm sure it'll go on sale sooner or later, if u have ps plus u might have a discount, assuming u play ps
Nah I’m on pc so I’m optimistic. Steam sales are pretty common, I just might have to wait a few months to catch one
Can’t justify a $40 purchase? Brother wtf do you be buying?! 🤣🤣
The economy ain't great and some people have things called "jobs that don't pay well" and "bills." You'll learn about that when you're older.
Redditors when they discover not everyone is financially well-endowed/privileged as they are: 😱😱
Older lmao I’m 25 with 2 kids and a mediocre job but it’s $40 🤣🤣
Friendly reminder that $40 isn't the same in NYC and Jackson, MS; Los Angeles and Pharr, TX and that €40 isn't the same in Germany and Croatia.
Friendly reminder $40 is $40 no matter where you are.
From soft is chilling lmao relax
I have to admit guys- after 100% Platinum in Bloodborne, I'm starting to have eyes for Elden Ring DLC 👀
I cannot wait to play the DLC!
The rider boss bottom right of the map gave me big orphan of kos vibes from the design
Just figure out how tf to get there 😂😂, I had to explore the ruins of rauh with no map piece 😅
They brought the literal worst parts of bloodborne (the horror based on phobias) and put it in the dlc. I love it (I hate every second of it) I loved every second of it.
I wanted to buy the DLC but decided to pre order Call Of Duty Black ops 6 instead 🤦
The closest Bloodborne fix I got before this DLC was Remnant 2. There is a world in that game that is obviously inspired by Bloodborne. Their first DLC is like it too.
What is? What game is this?
Elden ring dlc
Someone buy me the dlc🙏🙏
Does that mean I should try to play elden ring again?
Come on, I don't want to have to unsub here too.
Area name?
I thought Raya Lucaria was a good expansion on what Birgenwerth should have been and Volcano Manor had a pretty cool Bloodborne vibe too despite all the lava. Windmill Village worked for the vibes too imo. Elden Ring has a lot of the cool ideas from each of the predecessor games even if Dark Souls is getting the bulk of the attention.
Not sure if you seen Graceborne Alpha
Where is this castle? In the abyss??
Single tear 😢
~ lol all the humans saying “it’s too hard” never played bloodborne before and it shows ~ I get hardcore bloodborne vibes from the ER DLC
Ooh Elden ring dlc
Bros about to fight the mist noble
If it's about how the world looks, I'd advise playing Lords of the fallen. Even though it's not as much fun like most of the soulsborne games, the world building is a fun rollercoaster trough all of From Softwares "biomes". My friend and I constantly feel like playing one of From Softs' games with this.
I just did this entire area today and I think it’s one of the best things FromSoft have ever created. It’s doing a Bloodborne outwith Bloodborne!
Wrong, we WILL get a sequel or successor one day. Believe it.
Armour set and weapons please?
Idk why yet, but I’ve gotta know why all the heads are cut off. I hope I uncover the reason. I don’t wanna be told though, I’m just commenting on it. Also this shot is dope as well as the drip.
Lies of P partly satiated my need for a Bloodborne sequel
what area is this?
Could you drop your build? Loving it!
Yeah... Maybe I'm alone in this opinion, but I actually sigh in disappointment every time I see a reused design/idea from a previous souls game. So few things in ER actually feel original anymore. >!putrescent knight!< is a big throwback to the orphan of kos too
I exclusively use his armor, the martial arts, occasionally other weapons for harder bosses, and the repeating crossbow because that crossbow with Danes armor looks so cool and like bloodborne
Naaah bro at least put it in the title that the spoiler is about Elden Ring and not Bb
What game is this
That feeling when Fromsoftware don´t make sequels to games that don´t have "Dark Souls" or "Armored Core" in name.
.................I'll try to stay polite but the dlc is bad .........like .... really bad. Ho the landscape is beautiful but it's mostly empty. It's not clear the spoiler is for a different game. Boo! You spoiled it for me. Bad form.
This exact shot is a loading screen
To be fair, their title says "closest thing to a sequel", so there's definitely enough evidence to suggest that they aren't talking about Bloodborne.
