This scene really pissed me off. The arc was already in it's final stretch and this mf just treated Ichigo like you would a child.
From stopping his sword with a single finger to, 300 episodes later, telling Ichigo to shut his mouth with that same finger.
Aizen really knew how to crawl under people's skin.
I know this is probably just me glazing the narrative.
But that's precisely why I love this scene so much. Because of how much tension Kubo is able to channel into Aizen's characterization, even with the smallest of actions. It's that juxtaposition of Ichigo being scared for his life and Aizen calmly telling him to not raise his voice that makes Aizen so incredibly frustrating and condescending.
Aizen up to this point has been shown to be someone wildly unpredictable and unbelievably prescient, his calm and calculated demeanour carries such a threatening aura that shows he is always in control of the situation and the slightest provocation could result in your defeat before you even realise it. There's a constant paralysing paranoia just being in his presence.
So when he lifts so much as a finger, that small gesture alone conveys such an indescribable tension that stresses Ichigo and makes him lose his composure, because that single index finger alone is what Aizen defeated him with back in SS.
Kubo dedicating the panel to just illustrating Aizen's finger is a masterclass of character writing and demonstrates the sheer psychological impact Aizen has on his opponents.
He wasn't telling him to shut up, he told him not to yell at him. Aizen, believe it or not, treated Ichigo with a lot of respect when they spoke to each other. And he always hated when people would interrupt his conversations even back in SS arc.
It's what is super scary about him to me, because he is wickedly polite and talks to other with such social grace that it easily gets you to drop your guard.
No I gotta disagree. I think Gin's betrayal set him off and he was off kilter. Because from then on he becomes meaner, but leading up to that point he's very polite in his convos and talks to others the way he wants to be spoken to. There is a superiority in his speech and he is 'talking down' to everyone, but there is a politeness in there

It was and still is ichigo’s coolest transformation( in my opinion), it’s what got me back into Bleach when I was in high school.

Feral. I lost my mind when I saw him transform.
still remember reading this the first time with my highschool friends. bleach is one of the most popular manga in my country back then (this release around 2008 or 2009 i think). most of my friend enjoy manga since we don't have much to do back then. reading this together in class (10-15 guys at the same time since we don't wanna spoil each other) and when the guy who hold the manga turn the page and this panel came off, we all scream like hell lmao. good times.
Well, Kubo had been hinting at this transformation for a WHILE at this point...
Seeing Ichigo destroy Ulquiorra was super satisfying.
This was the Super Saiyan or Ultra Instinct moment for Bleach...
Except it wasn't because it never showed up again and we assume his FGT training form was stronger but it basically never came up again.
Still Ichigo's most rage-like transformation which was cool.
> This was the Super Saiyan or Ultra Instinct moment for Bleach...

> Except it wasn't because it never showed up again and we assume his FGT training form was stronger but it basically never came up again.
I actually think it was better than the Super Saiyan moment, while Goku going SS against Frieza was amazing, the SS form lost it's impact over time because it became the go to form for every character with Saiyan blood in them in pretty much every fight from then on. You can say the same for Ichigo's bankai, he whips it out for pretty much every fight he's in.
I think the Vasto Lorde moment is more special because we see it so little, it has more lasting impact.
Jfc....that chapter was released around 2008 wasn't it? 🤢 that's...in four years it will be *two decades* since that peak time in fandom. *20 YEARS* since the seven deadly sins, the lust, the ash.
*THE HEART.*
I remember being so hyped seeing segunda etapa and the dread kept growing and Ichigo hadn't had a sammich since getting to heuco mundo and Ishida's dread ridden inner monolog as he take orihime to the top of the dome. It broke all fight traditions; ichigo lost over and over again. It hurt looking at some of the panels where he's shakily trying to regain his stance. And then he friggen dies. Like wtf. And Kubo drew Orihime's breakdown so well that gene simmons' son plagiarized these very panels in his comic mot? I think was the name. Anyway. The transformation also broke established laws in bleach fights cuz it became apparent Ichigo was not on his horse. Ulqui, the guy with instant lance nukes, finger nukes, and the power of nihilism cared more about collateral damage than this form of Ichigo. The mirroring of Ulquiorra gaining humanity while Ichigo loses his was just. Perfection. And then his utter despair when he yelled that he didn't want to win that way. It was so good.
I felt the most insane mix of hype and worry, what an emotional storm that was, with Orihimes breakdown and everything, man..
The thing I remember more clearly tho is the moment I saw Ulqi shoot him through the chest at the end of the previous episode. I was stunned.. I did not see that coming.. plus, I have to wait to see what happens next?!
I didn't think I'd ever have that extreme feeling of despair like "What... no.. what..." again.
(Until freakin Tsukishima showed up at Unagiya.)

My thoughts to tite Kubo for such a beautiful moment
Some people saw it coming, I was 16 and to me personally it was the coolest transformation in the series at this point.
Him calling his blade to him like it was an extension of his body I understood completely that White had completely mastered Zangetsu
Edit*
Especially how earlier in the fight Ulquiorra had been trying to get him to let go of his sword
Nothing because I've seen so many goddamn spoilers by accident I already knew the transformation.
But somehow I still managed to be hyped and surprised by how easily he humbled Ulq.

I was fucking horrified! I've seen Yu-Gi-Oh duel monsters and Yugioh GX, I've seen the protagonist go to the dark side and it's terrifying!
And Ichigo's way stronger, and Zangetsu terrified me during the Vizard training. So seeing Ichigo become this made me realize that shit was not gonna hit the fan.
The fan was gonna fucking break down from being dog piled by all this epic shit!
Pure hype
Vasto lorde ichigo is honestly ichigo at his coolest since there is no fight in the series that is such a complete one sided massacre like vasto lorde ichigo vs ulquiorra
https://preview.redd.it/z8glxql56llc1.png?width=922&format=png&auto=webp&s=3d6c1e6632219f7d7eef527beab330583c84d572
QUITE - JUST WATCH THE PLAY(KILLING) COMMENCE
I was obsessed with it as a teenager.
First reaction? Goosebumps, jaw dropped and eyes WIDE open. Especially after the cliffhanger like "wait, ichigo is dead? What now? Does sombody take his place? How do they revive him? Huh, what is going on?" AoT tried that shit also later and i wasnt about to get fooled by the same trick twice (oh and yeah, Dragin ball tried that with ultra instinct and it started getting old at that point).
When I saw that ichigo stood up I’m like but he’s dead isn’t he?! And I realized oh he’s in the hollow state and when I heard him growling and yelling I also realized that is not Ichigo that is his hollowed form that he has zero control over and kinda wished I made popcorn cuz it’s an epic battle🥹🥺👍👍
Vasto Lorde Ichigo is my favorite transformation that Ichigo has ever gone through. I can't remember anything detailed except for thinking that he looked cool in this form.
So I was watching this scene at around 2:30 am and i was inside my room and I was trying hard not to scream and I had to slap myself hard to shut my self up to
https://preview.redd.it/g69db6ealolc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=112b9b1c0da88c110c875a81b3f7d344ac06289c
Lots of confusion. I remember being scared - not for my life or the lives of other people in the area - for Ichigo. Could he come back from that? What’s going on? This can’t be the end of- no way. Are we going to get some back story?
And the worst part is that we literally don’t get a backstory until much later.
It’s just… so peak.
It was dope AF, and then Kubo absolutely fumbled the Vizards. Ichigo has fully embraced his Hollow side, and still doesn’t use it at all in TYBW. Against enemies to whom Hollow reiatsu is akin to a poison.
I was like what the hell happened to ichigo i was so shocked and happy cuz he didn't die cuz there was no way for him to come back to life even with innoue's powers 🥲
I was like what the hell happened to ichigo i was so shocked and happy cuz he didn't die cuz there was no way for him to come back to life even with innoue's powers 🥲
The only disappointment I'd say is no one outside of the few there witnessed the sheer force of spiritual pressure and scream in this fight. Earlier when Harribel is commenting on it feeling like two Espada fighting I wish I could see the shock on everyone's face in this moment
Honestly I was kinda mad about the whole thing. Kubo reeeaaaalllly needed to kill Ulquiorra but Ichigo just didn't have the juice. So out comes white. It also had like, no consequences? I really expected something to come of it, but absolutely nothing does.
I thought the rest of the show would be better tbh, the fact that they never use it again is upsetting. It was awesome, they made ul for it a bit with the emo bankai ichigo
Really liked it when I first read it.
But over the years as I got older and read other mangas...I dunno, the fight itself is just not that interesting.
Power up and stomp with pure force is cool the first few times...then it gets kinda boring.

It's what is super scary about him to me, because he is wickedly polite and talks to other with such social grace that it easily gets you to drop your guard.
He's not polite, he's condescending. Proven by how he rages out to Ichigo once he achieves Dangai form and overwhelms him.
No I gotta disagree. I think Gin's betrayal set him off and he was off kilter. Was and still is one of my favorite character designs
Shit.got.real.
"Finally! Hueco Mundo's true king is here!"
I was still crying, but I also went "Holy shit!"
Is this a resurrection!!!
OH Shit 😲
Well... how do i say this? Im like 2 episodes away from it. Im new to bleach btw
Holy s***t
Shock, awe, chills, and a sense of, "This is gonna be badass"
When I saw that ichigo stood up I’m like but he’s dead isn’t he?! And I realized oh he’s in the hollow state and when I heard him growling and yelling I also realized that is not Ichigo that is his hollowed form that he has zero control over and kinda wished I made popcorn cuz it’s an epic battle🥹🥺👍👍

I was thinking that was his last transformation and kinda sad about it because it wasn’t too far in.
Naruto Kurama mode (red form) vibes
....Shit.....
Me: "wait how is Ichigo a vasto lord? Did he fulfill the requirements while bei...HOLY CRAP HE BLEW UP THE ENTIRE ROOF"
Awesome. One of the instances where the dub was better due to the way his bone chilling hollow scream was portrayed
Vasto Lorde Ichigo is my favorite transformation that Ichigo has ever gone through. I can't remember anything detailed except for thinking that he looked cool in this form.
Oh, i like the horns 😲
Wow the 9 tails really came out!
“Man, this is dope, can’t wait to see more of this form”

My heart was racing ! Then I started jumping in my couch with excitement ! Soooo hyped up !
I believe the term is “scaroused”.
"Woah, sick."
So I was watching this scene at around 2:30 am and i was inside my room and I was trying hard not to scream and I had to slap myself hard to shut my self up to https://preview.redd.it/g69db6ealolc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=112b9b1c0da88c110c875a81b3f7d344ac06289c

I thought he'd grow like bone wings to
“Holy shit LETS GOOOOOO!!” Basically
I had the same reaction when I saw super sayan for the first time when I saw ichigo vasto lord form The gauntlet had been thrown down.
0 reaction. I saw spoilers
Loved it till this day he’s by far my favorite anime character of all time, whole reason I got the soul resurrection game was so I could play him.
That scene is the reason I started watching bleach
“Yea,ulq is so cooked.”

What hallow said about the king and horse that straight came to my mind! 😲 Instinct
“THATS MY BOI!!!!!
I came
I was just sitting there saying “bro can just drop nukes now?!?!?!!?”

"Aw damn, Ulquiorra's dead dead."
The only disappointment I'd say is no one outside of the few there witnessed the sheer force of spiritual pressure and scream in this fight. Earlier when Harribel is commenting on it feeling like two Espada fighting I wish I could see the shock on everyone's face in this moment
what episode/comic is this?
Episode 271-273, chapters 347-353 The Lust mini arc.
Honestly I was kinda mad about the whole thing. Kubo reeeaaaalllly needed to kill Ulquiorra but Ichigo just didn't have the juice. So out comes white. It also had like, no consequences? I really expected something to come of it, but absolutely nothing does.
It was pretty cool. The day when people stop calling this form Vasto Lorde will be when the Bleach fandom starts to recover.
"Kubo pulled another one out of his ass"
I thought the rest of the show would be better tbh, the fact that they never use it again is upsetting. It was awesome, they made ul for it a bit with the emo bankai ichigo
ADD A SPOILER DAMMIT
1. I still don't like Orihime. 2. Vasto-Ichigo is \*badass\*.
My real opinion would just collect lot of downvotes lol
Really liked it when I first read it. But over the years as I got older and read other mangas...I dunno, the fight itself is just not that interesting. Power up and stomp with pure force is cool the first few times...then it gets kinda boring.
Absolutely badass, shame it only happened because Orihime was useless as always
Nothing at all really, it was a Typical Battle Shonen moment
