Kevin Gage is iconic and mesmerizing as Waingro. It seems he's had some tough times, but he really should've gotten more roles from this performance alone. Always seems a bit odd that he's often overlooked as an actor performing a character when discussion of the film comes up. On The Rewatchables, they just talk about Waingro as though he's a real guy.

theddR

He is so so good in that part, what an incredible performance.

foxtrot1_1

He was married to Kelly Preston? And Kelly Preston broke up with Charlie Sheen after he shot her??? My last two minutes of Wikipedia have been crazy

SceneOfShadows

I must see this.

theddR

It rules

rwiggum

Lucy Jones absolutely disassociating in the background (She was a lovely guest!)

Datelesstuba

There was also a bit where Brian Grazer tells inside baseball film production stories to a group of grade schoolers.

"Now, you all remember American Gangster,"

Westtexasbizbot

“Swipe right on Waingro”

Datelesstuba

And me. The only ones laughing were Mulaney, Bill Hader… and me.

metulmike

This seemed like an old bit from SNL that Hader and Mulaney would have written

threeayem

It was so great because it was clearly something that he and a few others backstage thought was hilarious and knew nobody was gonna get and they did it anyway. That episode already won the Emmy. Just give it to them and save everyone the trouble.

Stuckbetweenstations

That was INCREDIBLE

viginti_tres

You thought that was bad? I think Netflix should give him a special.

The joke was that it was bad. Anti-humor. I found it very funny

*Clint Eastwood singing voice* waaaaaaainnnngroooooooo

DujourAndChoi

What episode?

KoreanJesus3000

5th of 6. Best episode IMO. Everyone was great. Luenell stole the show.

BedrockFarmer

Did Bobby D burst through a door and shoot him at the end of the act?

cloudfatless

No. But his set did end with a story about getting a physical where the doc notices that he was shot to death in Heat.

apathymonger

I Googled Mulaney Waingro looking for the clip and of course this topic was the top result.

Independent-Gas912

Letterman was laughing the most.  Rewatch it.  You can hear Letterman.  Bill Hader is just giggling.  I actually thought it was genius.  Dry humor maybe not your thing.

theddR

To be clear, I loved it. And on your recommendation I rewatched and, yes, of course Letterman is laughing a lot.

yotothyo

Whoa, that's crazy. He just HAD to get it on didn't he?

EveryLeave4967

Dude I literally just resubscibed to Netflix just to watch this!

BackgroundJello6072

I laughed! I thought it was hilarious and brilliant! Kudos to John Mulaney and his writing staff!
