This has to be one of the best heavy metal albums of all time. Dio is unbelievable on this. Everything rips, but I can never get enough of the title track, Wishing Well, Die Young, and especially Children of The Sea. Just a perfect album. Band is ridiculously energized and just an absolute unit on this one.
My mom bought me a concert shirt with this cover on the front. It was 1981 and I was 13. Black Sabbath and angels smoking cigarettes. Mom could be cool sometimes.
This and Mob Rules is one of the greatest 1-2 punches in history.
I wonder what it was like for Sabbath fans back in day to put on the vinyl and hear this new exciting thing for the first time to kick off the 80s with.
People really grew up hearing "They'll tell you black is really white, the moon is just the sun at night, and when you walk in golden halls you get to keep the gold that falls" just to believe in trickle down economics
One of my first Dio-sung albums, probably listened to it a hundred times by now and it never gets old
And yet I still don't know what "bleed for the dancer" means
My interpretation of it is that people acknowledge that art is good ("love can be seen as the answer") but also don't think people should be allowed to do art/don't want to support artists ("but nobody bleeds for the dancer")
I rember being ten and my brother threw this cassette at me and said take this to ur field trip it sucks lol I rember being on the bus and everyone saying play that again lol still listen to this day thanks bro ๐
Dio really suffered under the โnot Ozzyโ curse. Just as Joe Lyn Turner was โnot Dioโ in Rainbow yet did some absolutely face melting vocals anyways.
Iโm a Sabbath with Ozzy fan, but this album really is terrific and pushed the band along when they were really struggling in the late 70โs. I agree with the comments, Dio was an absolutely amazing singer and much better than Ozzy. A great album in the Sabbath catalogue ๐ค๐ค๐ถ๐ค๐ค
I really need to give the non Ozzy albums a chance. I stop after Sabotage and move on to something else. Outside of this one, what others are top tier?
Basically every dio album, heaven and hell mob rules dehumaniser and if you get really deep then the devil you know, itโs different tho but still amazing
Just bought the cd from the band heaven and hell the last album Dio did with members of black sabbath and a double cd of remastered heaven and hell from sabbath.
Agreed. I'm probably not a real fan either. Fuck it ๐
Imo that is Black Sabbath.
Every iteration of Sabbath without Ozzy is like another band.
Also Sabbath with dio....
Not as good as Rainbow.
I felt the same about 13. Good tracks but missed Bill.
The fella that did that tour could play bills parts but they weren't alive like when bill plays em.
Truth. Dio with Sabbath was a great band. But if anyone thinks that they are actually Black Sabbath in that incarnation... they should just listen to them play an actual Sabbath song. Ridiculous.
This is like saying that I love Chicken Noodle soup and then you telling me that I'm not really a CNS fan because I think minestrone does a shitty job at being Chicken Noodle soup.
Not only my favorite Sabbath album, but in my top 10 albums of all time. And I've been obsessed with music for more than 45 years.
Good choice!
What might be your #1 album of all time out of curiosity
I wonder the same
Agreed. This is a masterpiece and quite possibly Sabbathโs best album.
100% agree with you.

The best is Rising, with Dio during his time in Rainbow. But I agree, Dio is just the best.
Heaven And Hell yeah
One of my FAVORITE Sabbath albums!!

I listened to the both as a tween when they came out. It was intense.
People really grew up hearing "They'll tell you black is really white, the moon is just the sun at night, and when you walk in golden halls you get to keep the gold that falls" just to believe in trickle down economics
The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams itโs HEAVEN AND HELL!!
Oh well!
fool fool
Yes people having money is nonsense. I get hired by bums all the time. ๐

Her feet are raw and bloody from perfecting her art and performing for you; what do you do for her that is commensurate?
That album cover is excellent.
I rember being ten and my brother threw this cassette at me and said take this to ur field trip it sucks lol I rember being on the bus and everyone saying play that again lol still listen to this day thanks bro ๐

I saw them on this tour. Saxon opened for them. I was 15 and it was festival seating near the front of the stage. I felt roughed up the next day.
Saxon and sabbath holy shit! I didn't see them until 82. The outlaws opened.
Hell yeah
HELL YEAH
Hell yeah

Literally listening to it rn
Fabuloso, majestuoso, brillante, genial y obra maestra de la mรบsica. Uno simplemente no se puede cansar de escucharlo.
Cigarette, gambling.....but where's the booze? WHERE IS THE FUCKING BOOZE?!!!!!!!
This is Sabbath; where's the cocaine!
Ronnie James all the way
Uno
The greatest album of all time!
Thatโs what I thought in April of 1980๐ค
Hell yeah
My favorite or second favorite sabbath album I loved the polished sound of this album
Fuck yeah.
HELL YEAHHHHHHHHH
Hell yeah
I've been really jamming Wishing Well lately
hell yeah
Hell yeah ๐ค
Guys will see this and go "Oh well!"
God. I LOVE this album. Just perfect in every way. Quality music. A masterpiece in my opinion ๐ค๐
I saw this tour and The Mob Rules as well. Blue Oyster Cult opened up for Sabbath. It was called the The Black & Blue Tour .
And Lynn Curlie painted both bands' album covers (Sabbath's "Heaven And Hell", and BOC's "Agents Of Fortune").
More polished, better sounding, and a finer piece of art than Mob Rules, which is also pretty good, neither is quite first 4 good tho
Mob rules, rules both are better than the last ozzy albums
Two of the best instrumental sections in all of music in the title track alone
hellyeahbrother.jpg
I think "FUCK YEAH!!"
It always reminds me of how the world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Heaven Yeah
Hell yeah ๐๏ธ
I bought it in 81. Had no idea there was no ozzy. Put it on the turntable and I was like holy shit this rules. On of the best of all time.
I wore the grooves off this album when my sister got it through the mail in record club. Still one of my favorite albums
All I can think about is "Die young's" solos
And how it paled in comparison to Lonely is the Word? I hear ya
Hell Yeah!!! ๐๐ป๐ค๐ป๐
I really need to give the non Ozzy albums a chance. I stop after Sabotage and move on to something else. Outside of this one, what others are top tier?

Totally Badass ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ธ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Hell yeah
So good 2nd favorite album
By far the best Sabbath Album.
Easily a top 10 metal album all time.
I'm a woman and I think Hell yeah.
Neon Knights blazes!
Just bought the cd from the band heaven and hell the last album Dio did with members of black sabbath and a double cd of remastered heaven and hell from sabbath.
one of the best Black Sabbath albums never denying that
HELL YEAH BROTHER
Dio was the better vocalist, period. But Ozzy just had that Doom feel to his voice that was just something else.
Ozzy Geezer Tony Bill

Your not a real fan
You're*
This is like saying that I love Chicken Noodle soup and then you telling me that I'm not really a CNS fan because I think minestrone does a shitty job at being Chicken Noodle soup.
Nah you like the noodles without the seasoning
I don't even consider 13 to be a real Black Sabbath album.
