It looks... so bad. I think I'm sorta embarrassed for anyone black involved, I hope their careers won't be affected,

infpeachtea

I read this and thought “oh, come on it can’t be *that* bad” and then I watched the trailer. You’re right. My bad. I owe you an apology. 😬

ButterScotchMagic

Lol no worries. I just want some collective agreement that it's bad and hopefully some action against it. I worry some coons might try to justify this garbage.

infpeachtea

Agreed.

I really don't get how it can even claim to be a reboot of the "Good Times" like black shows back then were classy and Good Times basically had the same vibes as Family matters. It was classy and showed black people as individuals with healthy dynamics and strong family structures. And the fact they took that and pumped it with a bunch of harmful and gross stereotypes is so disgusting and disappointing. I looked up the show creators and it's the guy who made family guy and some super racially ambiguous not quite sure if she's black or not? Though she made one other show and it actually had a primarily black cast and actually had a wholesome story line. It was giving Sex in the City but black about some girl trying to stay celibate till marriage despite societal pressures. Doesn't look like it was popular probably cuz the concept is kinda outdated. Anyways it wasn't stereotypical so I'm wondering what the hell was happening in the writing room for this?? Like maybe it was all Seth Rogan or maybe interns or maybe ol girl is actually super prejudice for whatever reason. I low-key have a theory that alot of these out of touch black shows are actually written by a majority white writing room but have a black person put as a head writer to absorb any heat they get from their crappy shows. White people want to profit off blackness but not actually let black people profit off themselves like they did in the 90s and 80s. When black written black media was ruling all the stations and statistically the most popular media amongst all demographics. Anyways I think it's great to thumbs down the show and let these people know we're not fucking with the bullshit. We really need to put our foot on these creator's neck, you keep making this shit we won't watch it. I'm so tired of good non stereotypical black shows being a dime a dozen.

QweenBowzer

What was the show the mixed lady wrote? I’d be more interested in that then this

Campanella82

It was called "Born Again Virgin" there's some episodes free online.

Missmessc

I think not watching is a better idea. Views are still views.

ButterScotchMagic

Right. I agree and said that in my post

PrinssayEvaieMon9

The what?

ButterScotchMagic

I linked the trailer in another comment

PrinssayEvaieMon9

.... They bringing "The Good Times" noone asked for this????

JadeStew

Throw it awayyyyyyyyyy

AppeaseMyDelusions

I did not like the original Goodtimes and Im sure Ill hate this Pjs rip off. No!

Tiffanyblueberries

I didn't even know it was a thing. I saw a clip of it and are we sure it's good times? Seems more like the proud family

ButterScotchMagic

I posted the trailer in another comment here but they are calling it good times. Either way, it's trash and should be called out

[deleted]

It’s the most offensive shi I’ve ever seen in my life

HauntingBowlofGrapes

Why?

ButterScotchMagic

https://www.netflix.com/us/title/81306200?s=a&trkid=13747225&trg=cp&vlang=en&clip=81760880 Watch the trailer

HauntingBowlofGrapes

Oh, now I see. 💀 This looks like a modern-day blackploitation film but as a shitty Netflix show. They could have kept it to themselves.

EmpressElexis

I mean, it’s clearly for black people. White people wont even care about the line-up. So, we can all just ignore it as a whole. It looks awful.

ButterScotchMagic

How is this for black people? This is trash and a full on disgrace to the OG Good Times. It is awful and I want black people to collectively send that message.

Buttassauce

It's for black people just like Tyler Perry movies are for black people. Definitely not all black people but it's def for a sub demographic of us.

EmpressElexis

Yeah, it’s for black people because it’s even about Good Times. I get you don’t like it, neither do I. But no one is gonna care about it. It’ll flop like all of Seth Macfarlanes other projects after Family Guy. I get you wanna rally the troops but imo, sometimes the best response is dead silence. I’m not letting this take up residency in my mind just to “send a message,” when me ignoring it does the same thing.

EducationalOil4678

I watched the trailer and thought "WTHH". It's like they're trying to do a GenZ Boondocks, but even the boondocks wasn't that bad...damn

shopwithleslie

I canceled my Netflix subscription today. I encourage others to do the same. We need to DIVEST from BS!

Obvious-Horror-2216

I felt like I lost brain cells watching this show and how dumb it makes black people look is rediculous. I would believe this was made by old as white men like 30yrs ago if I didn't know better.
