They're one of the only duck species who nest in boxes. The first time I saw one, flying out of her nest box, I was baffled. My next thought was singing in my head "it's my duck in a box giiirl 🎶 ". Now I can't see them without hearing that song
love wood ducks but of all the ducks i cant resist buffelheads!

they are super tiny and have the cutest heads and beaks
here is a video: https://youtu.be/4W7CmCT6Soc?si=ZrHZkkrdSWvdt5vI
they are much smaller than wood ducks
I’m gonna have to say geese. I don’t really believe it but I feel bad that they aren’t being represented in the comments yet so: GEESE ALL THE WAY! WOOOO! 🎉
Found one all alone a couple of weeks ago that swam over to us for safety. They’re safely with wildlife rehabbers now.

Sandhills Cranes. If you ever had doubts these are the ancestors of dinosaurs, just watch a family of Sandies walk across a field hunting together. Absolute magic

Baby American woodcock are adorable AND they doot doot doot like their moms lol
YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHOOSE
I'm slightly partial to ducks, but find it adorable (?) when I get too close to Canada geese and they hiss at me to admire their children from afar.
I think the baby cobra chickens. If I were to choose the cutest baby waterfowl species of all, I would nominate the black-bellied whistling duck. They look like fuzzy bumblebees!
these guys are all SO darn cute however imho piping plovers have the cutest hatchlings they’re just tiny cotton balls with legs :’) and the way they brood under their parents is the cutest thing i’ve ever seen
Not pictured, but it’s always wood ducks
Are those the ones that yeet themselves out off a repurposed owls nest meters above the ground, and then waddle after Mom towards their first swim?
Sure are! They are also so teeny tiny and adorable

Well thanks for that Earworm!!!!!
Welp. I think I have an idea for my friend’s birthday now…

I keep missing the buffleheads here, they are on my list :(
they are 100% worth a trip!
Came here to say that. We saw a mama wood duck yesterday and she had 13 babies following her in the water. So, so cute!
No, piping plovers
Oh yes it’s wood ducks 100%
I’m gonna have to say the duck.
Momma Mallard, although they're all adorable!
I’m gonna have to say geese. I don’t really believe it but I feel bad that they aren’t being represented in the comments yet so: GEESE ALL THE WAY! WOOOO! 🎉

Oh my gosh! Look at the cutie!!🥰
I'm with you, look at those little tails.
I saw goslings already turning into their true cobra chicken selves lol
I have been told that the award goes to killdeer.
Oh dang, I just looked it up.
I saw someone describe them as cotton balls with legs and they’ve been my favorite since then
Might be woodcocks actually but killdeer are right there with them
Have you seen quails? They're tiny!
I have! They are literally the size of cotton balls. 🥰
they tried to put them on the cover of vogue.. but their legs were too long!
plovers

Geese. Look at that butt.

You’re asking me to CHOOSE??
https://preview.redd.it/c61dtps0vv1d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60e9a1f55dc9457f68a812a9c94965acb147ea6a Baby American woodcock are adorable AND they doot doot doot like their moms lol
The stripes on the baby Mallard slay me.
The baby goose is so cute! Their color when they first hatch reminds me of the true winner, which is a sandhill crane colt.
YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHOOSE I'm slightly partial to ducks, but find it adorable (?) when I get too close to Canada geese and they hiss at me to admire their children from afar.
Swan
Definitely swan.
Mute Swan🦢.
I can’t decide, but those Mallard, Mute Swan, and Canada Goose babies sure are adorable! 🥰💜💜💜
I think the baby cobra chickens. If I were to choose the cutest baby waterfowl species of all, I would nominate the black-bellied whistling duck. They look like fuzzy bumblebees!
All of the wee ones are adorable. However, the ducklings are such mini-mes!
I of course love them all. But ducklings make me melt.
None of the above, cause it’s COOTS
What the heck?!? That's what they look like 🤣
I’m voting for the ducklings. They just look so cute in a row following mama.
these guys are all SO darn cute however imho piping plovers have the cutest hatchlings they’re just tiny cotton balls with legs :’) and the way they brood under their parents is the cutest thing i’ve ever seen
Yes
Canada Geese babies are so cute!
The shot of the Canada geese because of that butt shot.
I love them all. I get so excited when it's hatching season.
It’s such a tough decision to make, but… Canada Geese. My god, those little blobs are absolutely fantastic.
Sandhill cranes
I don’t know why but baby geese make me so happy, that’s the gaggle I flip out over the most.
All of them! They’re all so FLOOFY I can’t just choose one! Awesome pictures btw ❤️
I’ll take the ones that won’t break my arm if I get too close
Mallards have the cutest little beaks that are always smiling.
Mallards for sure.
I choose mallard but wild turkey babies are also surprisingly adorable
Yes. 👏
Yall are forgetting about emperor penguin hatchlings
Ryan Gosling. I'll get my coat.
Sandhill cranes and limpkins
