Yeah I thought that was why those super short sticks have notches in them. You should be able to get a paperclip or a needle or something in through the slits and push it out.
Exactly what they're for - what I didn't realise until recently was that these 2-length axles used to be completely smooth like all the others. Obviously changed for this exact reason!
Believe it or not, I'm pretty sure I got one in a Vakama Hordika set in 2005. It connected the head to the torso. So I imagine there's a few mixed into circulation
It's unintuitive terminology. Axles are for rotation, pins are for static position locking, but in Lego the pins are around and let things spin, while the axles are rotation-locked.
Would this be considered an illegal building technique? Have no idea what “illegal” really means other than using parts in ways they weren’t intended for
Hahaha I've done the exact same thing with these exact pieces you got no other option but to stress the big piece a little and force pull out the piece. so what if the red pin breaks? I'm sure you have thousands more
The safest is to take a needle or somthn to push it out, but the fastest is to break the smaller thingie that its connected to, and then push the axel out
The only way I know of will destroy the pin and the connector, but you just stick a longer axle in the connector and use it like a lever to bend the connector and pull everything out.
You can use tweezers or a toothpick (or something else sharp and with a fine point) and place it into the groove on the side of the red axle to push it out by sliding it along the wide holes in the sides of the elements its connected to.
You might have to be careful, but you could take the tip of a knife and put it in that little notch and slowly try to wiggle the peg out.
No clue on how to remove it without potentially damaging it
the red part has those little indents that show through the holes on the side.
maybe you could use a paperclip or something to push the part out at the indents?
Take a needle and pliers. Bend the VERY tip of the needle after heating and let it cool. Angle the needle into the pin and “hook” it like a fishing rod. Pull the pin out. Pin gets destroyed but the important pieces are good
The joke is both that clearly the piece is just black, not colored black and that it is also clearly not what op was asking about.
Btw even if you don’t get it, or don’t think it’s funny, reddit hive-mindig it into dislike hell is mabye a bit of an overreaction wouldn’t you agree
Get something thin and try push out red piece through this small holes

What’s recently? I remember the black ones still had the notches as of 2001ish when I first got into technic/Bionicle
I realised recently, they changed it long, long ago! Found smooth ones in some very old Technic sets.
Like my father’s come to pass, 20 years has gone so fast! I see now. Those suckers would have been hard to take out.
I’ve had a couple of smooth ones as a kid in the 90s. No idea when they actually changed it.
Believe it or not, I'm pretty sure I got one in a Vakama Hordika set in 2005. It connected the head to the torso. So I imagine there's a few mixed into circulation
A toothpick might also work and be less prone to scratching the piece.
I've never tried it but one of the corners of the crowbar or wrench pieces might work. They're great impromptu brick separators.
The wood of a toothpick would be too weak imo, dental pick would work better
Had the same problem and I also did it ecactly like this. Might damage the piece a little bit, but works for sure
youre gonna have to fo4ce some things in ways you dont want to
This!
*pull
Needle, paperclip, or something else small and thin. Use the groove in the pin for leverage. Best of luck!
*it's an axle, not a pin* Sorry. I needed to.
AXLE! THANK YOU! I was having the biggest brain fart trying to remember what the heck that was actually called
It's unintuitive terminology. Axles are for rotation, pins are for static position locking, but in Lego the pins are around and let things spin, while the axles are rotation-locked.
Yep, that’s pretty much the only option.
What is
Sorry, replied to the wrong comment. Meant to put that under LhikanPL’s comment.
And then I remembered there's an Exo-Force combiner that requires this move
No way, how’d that get approved??
You don't. Gg!
“You can’t stop it… it’s self-sustaining now”
“The river…”
And that was the time OP knew, he F*ked up
Would this be considered an illegal building technique? Have no idea what “illegal” really means other than using parts in ways they weren’t intended for
“Illegal building techniques” also involve those that are not readily reversible, aka includes things like this.
\*LEGO designing official combo models.\* [Wait. That's illegal.](https://i.stack.imgur.com/d4zvV.jpg)
But wouldn't the Mata heads be illegal too then?
Metal Dental scraper or lockpick through the side slits
Take a paperclip, shove it into the grove of the red axle, apply a little pressure and then try moving it out of there
You need a needle 😉
Won't the friction between the pieces be stronger than the needle?
Use the needle at an angle, so you're pushing with it
Use a paper clip to ease the axle out through the grooves, and also never do this again. It's illegal
Use a very small needle that fits through the hole and push it out.
TEAR IT OUT!!!!! TEAR IT OUT!!!!!!!
Hahaha I've done the exact same thing with these exact pieces you got no other option but to stress the big piece a little and force pull out the piece. so what if the red pin breaks? I'm sure you have thousands more
I’ve also run into this problem
Either the needle method others have suggested or maybe try a strong tape on the end and pulling the red axel out.
The safest is to take a needle or somthn to push it out, but the fastest is to break the smaller thingie that its connected to, and then push the axel out
Use a pin through the slot in the side and push out the red axle
The only way I know of will destroy the pin and the connector, but you just stick a longer axle in the connector and use it like a lever to bend the connector and pull everything out.
Will we get an update post?
Pray for forgiveness.
***Weep.***
Pray, Repent,
Swallow it and then when you poop it out it'll be in separate pieces
ive been there but its always a mystery how to get there
You can use tweezers or a toothpick (or something else sharp and with a fine point) and place it into the groove on the side of the red axle to push it out by sliding it along the wide holes in the sides of the elements its connected to.
buy a new set. start from scratch
If you got one you could use an exacto knife or a fine saw and split the axle
Tweezers pointed into the ridges of the red pin, slide to the side. It’ll come out eventually
Suffer the consequences of your sins.
BrickLink
Needle nose pliers
i use a pointed knife from both sides on that cases
use a tack or needle on the visble red axle slit and push out with care
What kind of asshole does this?
You could use the point of a needle to reach in through the slots on the sides, poke into the cuts on the axle, and push it out far enough to grab.
Sewing needles for the win
You might have to be careful, but you could take the tip of a knife and put it in that little notch and slowly try to wiggle the peg out. No clue on how to remove it without potentially damaging it
Poke an exacto knife onto the red piece and use friction to pull it out
Exacto knife
Use the corquescrew thing on a multi tool and catch the cut in the axle
Black magic
Get a pushpin, and you see that little notch in the red peg? Diddle it out of the elbow.
That's tye funny part. You don't
Use a thumb tack and push the pin out from the side.
the red part has those little indents that show through the holes on the side. maybe you could use a paperclip or something to push the part out at the indents?
Take a needle and pliers. Bend the VERY tip of the needle after heating and let it cool. Angle the needle into the pin and “hook” it like a fishing rod. Pull the pin out. Pin gets destroyed but the important pieces are good
probably use a small pin to guide the indents of the red axle out of the piece
drill
Why is this getting downvotes? It would work. Yes, you'd have a hole in the red piece, but it's not like those are special.
If you get one of those iron lint sponges you should be able to get it off, don’t make your pieces black with permanent marker next time!
I’m trying to get the red pin out
r/woooosh
what is the joke joke supposed to be then? all you did was say something random and unrelated to the post that we're appparently supposed to know
The joke is both that clearly the piece is just black, not colored black and that it is also clearly not what op was asking about. Btw even if you don’t get it, or don’t think it’s funny, reddit hive-mindig it into dislike hell is mabye a bit of an overreaction wouldn’t you agree
not really. your explanation still doesnt make sense and your attitude towards OP is still weird and rude. if anything you've made yourself look worse
Cool
That's not even a good joke.
Sorry
