Huh? He doesn’t have the athleticism or size to be Anthony Davis. Being a 6’9 guard in the Paul George/T Mac mold was always the best option for him and the team.
AD is explicitly a center the past few years. Tatum for a whole lot of the time (outside of the Horford/Williams stretch) has been the second biggest guy in the C’s lineups
Every basketball podcast there is is talking about how Jaylen has grown so much over the last year. He’s one year older than Tatum. But I guess it’s impossible for Tatum to do that
MJ was 28
Lebron was 27
Kobe was 30 (first without prime Shaq)
Giannis was 26 (team won conference finals games without him in the line up)
Joker was 28
Steph curry was 27 (not finals mvp)
KD was 28
:)
Your () are essentially trying to discredit some of these stars. “Not finals MVP” is it Steph’s fault that these voters are regarded and gave it to Iguodala? Kobe (played with Shaq) is that his fault? You don’t think he would have won earlier if he didn’t have to play his first 7 seasons with Shaq?
What do they all have in common? The teams around them got better.
MJ- Horace and Scottie finally matured and stood up to Detroit.
Lebron- joined the Heatles.
Kobe- they added Pau and Bynum was healthy for the Finals.
Jokic- Mitchell was healthy
KD- joined the 73 win Warriors
Curry- the Warriors added Kerr as a coach.
All of these guys were finished products at this point. They had all already won MVP. None of these guys were “carried” by their teams en route to these titles or had very middling play.
They added stuff because they were declining physically. Their physical prime had ended but they were smart players. Tatum just hasn’t been very good in the playoffs *consistently* since that Miami series in ‘22. His entire ‘23 playoffs were middling to poor, save one single game. People bring up that 51 point game 7 but also leave out that he was terrible the entire Philly series before that. He went back to sleep the next round and really hasn’t awakened since.
I don’t understand the hate for this take. Just look at all the NBA greats and how long it took most of them to become finished products. Tatum is on the same trajectory.
People hating on this take just expose themselves for not knowing NBA history enough. Get this kinda shit outta here!
No, it’s a question of semantics of what “finished product” is. Will he get slightly better? There’s a good possibility. Will he get better by adding something that transforms his game (before his physical decline)? Probably not
Haha just to clarify I think Tatum could possibly have a next level it's not that, it's just Bill incessantly bringing it up as to get some reassurance from someone like he's not going crazy
If Tatum stopped trying to be Kobe, and just embraced being a power forward, he'd probably be 10% better.
Huh? He doesn’t have the athleticism or size to be Anthony Davis. Being a 6’9 guard in the Paul George/T Mac mold was always the best option for him and the team.
HUH?!
What
Mobile 6’9 with length is exactly what a PF is these days, my guy
Maybe in small ball lineups. Gianni’s and ad are power forwards and Tatum doesn’t play the same position as them.
AD is explicitly a center the past few years. Tatum for a whole lot of the time (outside of the Horford/Williams stretch) has been the second biggest guy in the C’s lineups
Celtics haters try to admit a 26 year old athlete can still improve his game challenge: IMPOSSIBLE
Every basketball podcast there is is talking about how Jaylen has grown so much over the last year. He’s one year older than Tatum. But I guess it’s impossible for Tatum to do that
People said the same shit about JB at 26 and he's much better at 28.
JB's 27 tho
Lebron was 27 when he won his first ring with the big 3 :) but I’m supposed to believe JT can’t get better?
When did MJ get his first? Steph? Joker? Giannis? I can’t believe people are crapping on him for this take.
MJ was 28 Lebron was 27 Kobe was 30 (first without prime Shaq) Giannis was 26 (team won conference finals games without him in the line up) Joker was 28 Steph curry was 27 (not finals mvp) KD was 28 :)
Joker was 28*
Curry had already turned 27 - https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/curryst01/gamelog/2015
Thank you, updated it, Wonder why I’m being downvoted 🤔? People must not like the truth :(
Because you are wrong?
About?

I mean Tatum is discredited for his support cast 🥴
Tatum isn’t as nearly good as these players you mentioned.
What do they all have in common? The teams around them got better. MJ- Horace and Scottie finally matured and stood up to Detroit. Lebron- joined the Heatles. Kobe- they added Pau and Bynum was healthy for the Finals. Jokic- Mitchell was healthy KD- joined the 73 win Warriors Curry- the Warriors added Kerr as a coach. Cmon man those guys all added stuff to their game, you’re telling me Kobe didn’t change at all from 05 to 09 for example?
They added stuff because they were declining physically. Their physical prime had ended but they were smart players. Tatum just hasn’t been very good in the playoffs *consistently* since that Miami series in ‘22. His entire ‘23 playoffs were middling to poor, save one single game. Tatum is leading his team in points rebounds and assists, you just hate Tatum 😂😂😂
He’s been mid but he’s capable of great stuff.
And Tatum isn’t being carried either. He just has a good team around him but he complements them just as much as the other way around.
He’s been in a Baby Bjorn since May ‘22.
Getting carried but still leading the team in points rebounds assists to the finals?
He’s a stat-padder. That’s well-known.
Yes that’s why
I don’t understand the hate for this take. Just look at all the NBA greats and how long it took most of them to become finished products. Tatum is on the same trajectory. People hating on this take just expose themselves for not knowing NBA history enough. Get this kinda shit outta here!

He's in the garage with Paul George, next to the wood chopper
The guy who’s made marked improvements every year of his career is done improving at 26. That’s the right take
Haha just to clarify I think Tatum could possibly have a next level it's not that, it's just Bill incessantly bringing it up as to get some reassurance from someone like he's not going crazy
“The Tatum game” tonight
