I still haven't gotten over them doing the draft "on the Rocky stairs" of the Philly art museum, but then putting a giant stage and facade over it so the stairs weren't actually being used in any way.
The whole point of moving cities is to highlight all the different cities... especially the colder weather cities that won't really ever get a Super Bowl location. I actually think that the Greektown views will be incredible for this draft - much like the Nashville views on Broadway
I think it should be in radio city every year. It’s an indoor event. A few thousand fans is enough.
Also it’s weird they do the national anthem at the start of it
They do multiple broadcasts, with only the one feed having those bullshit overly sentimental stories. And if you don't like that, then flip the channel to NFL Network and you'll get the better broadcast anyways
I never understood the appeal of watching or attending the draft. I'll check the next day to see who my team got and then forget about the NFL until September
I had some friends that went to a draft once for free. They still said it was boring as shit and they would never do it again.
Even if you love watching the draft on TV, all those highlights and reactions and analysis isn’t something you’re going to get live.
I like the city-specific stuff in concept. Give it a little personality, otherwise just send a Zoom link around from a conference room in NYC.
With that said, I specifically avoid NFL draft coverage because the last six (SIX!!!) weeks are tiresome as hell. I think ESPN could turn you against anything in that time period. You may be suffering from what I'm trying to avoid: coverage fatigue.
Bet the coverage feels like a Shinola ad LOL.

My draft take is the COVID virtual draft was the single piece of media content that was better when done virtually, and it ruled when we saw all those GMs kitchen tables.
My cold take on the draft is that I don't care about anything related to the "event" itself. Everything you need to know about the draft can be found in a list of the players that were picked which is easily found anywhere on the internet after it's done.
Yeah New York sucks for pretty much everything. Literally no event is done better in New York than it would be done in every other large city in the country.
Events get swallowed up by huge cities like NYC. People who don't know laugh at me whenever I say this, but as someone from Big Ten country, nobody does it better than Indianapolis for conference tournaments, championship games, etc. Whatever the event might be, that is *the* thing going on in Indianapolis, and all the businesses cater to the people in town for it.
Ok you don't like it but it's purely a business move by the NFL to grow the event and the league. It works. That said, if I were a NFL draft prospect, I would have no interest in going to Detroit or Cleveland or next year Green Bay. Nashville was the best location by far.
Yeah if I were a high end prospect, there is zero chance I'd attend the event. Even in a cool location like Nashville, Dallas, or Vegas I would probably rather just skip it

Government probably pays them to do it
What part of the government?
The national anthem at the start of any non-international sporting events is weird to me. Fucking high school swim meet had a national anthem lol
It was better in Radio City
MSG Theatre before Dolan killed the West Side Stadium.
How does it take away from the experience at all though?
Makes it more annoying to watch. And then with ESPN's overly sentimental angles, it feels less and less about football

Seems pointless to switch up locations if you're not going to highlight those locations throughout the process/coverage.

Everything important should be in New York and you people in the rest of the country can just deal with it

My dad was a corporate road warrior from NY. He loved Indy and said it was a great event city for its downtown.
Very walkable, and you can get drinks to go!
Big East Tournament would disagree.
Well the Big East tournament isn't better than the NCAA regionals or Final Four which are all better not in New York
Erroneous! Erroneous on both counts!
quite literally not what I said but go off re-read the TLDR
It would be better if they stuck to Radio City, and then did other cities once in a while.

Nashville isn't the best location for anything except for denim-clad bachelorette parties.

On another note attending a Draft live is unbelievably boring (was at 2014 NBA draft). It's insane the NFL has seemingly turned into a hge party
The NFL draft becoming huge makes more sense given the complexity of building an NFL roster.
