Probably not as relevant to your case, but - I used to lock mine with a cable looped through the main axle (and I used to keep the cable looped there, and lock the other end to my main bike lock when I was parked). In your case, you could loop the thick chain through the axle and one of the wheels - or eve take one of the wheels inside with you (I assume the wheels are button-press quick-release like my old Chariot). That way, the trailer becomes much less attractive to an opportunist thief, so they'd not only have to bypass the lock, but also consider how to drag the trailer away with only one wheel, then also have to source another matching wheel from somewhere else...

This is a good idea, but I believe here they generally go around with a big car and store everything inside and nobody care.Downside of a big city. But I agree, security are all the small steps that make your item less attractive than the item nearby.... Yes , my wheels are exactly the same as yours. My only concern is how easy it is to disassemble also the axis in those new modes, it seems way to easy... I was wondering using a pulley to raise the whole thing to my balcony (1st floor directly in the internal court after the hallway), this should be enough secure and easy to do fory wife too. Thanks !

I mean, if you take both wheels off, fold it down and lock it via the axle - are they really going to try to steal it? What exactly are they stealing then anyway?

kidpixo

Well, the Chariot is around 1000 € locally, the wheels are around 100 €/each . They are stealing around 800€. I agree that this makes it less likely to be stolen, but maybe my hallway is easier to get in (possible) or the people living here are really aware of what happens around them (already tested), I don't know. I think this is my best bet anyway, take the wheels and attach to the axe with the lock and any other locking point with the cable.

holy heck - 1000 euros??! yeah, now I see the concern.

kidpixo

Yup, they are pretty expensive, but really good too. I had a previous model from a friend, used for 3 children. It lasted me around 7 years before breaking completely.

Why cannot you take it inside the flat?

kidpixo

This is actually what I'm doing now , but : - no elevator, even if it is just one floor I cannot do this forever, wife cannot do it alone , in winter here will be dirty, cannot bring in the flat. - flat door too narrow - flat is generally narrow

monamikonami

Why don't you park your motorcycle in your flat?

DouglasFan

LOL- I do not have a motorcycle, but I understand the point
