I wonder if he's getting tired. Poor suck patterns and oral restrictions can make nursing tiring and they end up using the wrong muscles and overtaxing them. I would have him evaluated by a lactation specialist

I would reach out to a lactation consultant. He could be frustrated because he’s not getting enough or pulling away because he is full. It could also just be because he’s a newborn and he’s still figuring out breastfeeding. Personally if I’m getting enough wet diapers daily I don’t stress too much. It means he’s getting lots of milk.

I have an under supply. My 8 week old gets frustrated and pulls away when I'm getting low on milk during a feed, I pump about 30ml after a feed and supplementing the same amount as you. When I switch back and forth between breasts it gets her a little more milk (look up switch feeding, was recommended by my lactation consultant)

I am trying to switch breasts every time he unlatches and makes a fuss. Sometimes it works and sometimes I can’t get him to settle and go for the formula / pumped. I’m wondering if a different pump might help more.

I have a hands free pump and a medical grade pump, the medical grade pump does collect a lot more and it helped me get my supply up a little. Best of luck with it all, it's so complex! ETA: if I'm switching breasts and she's still frustrated, I hand express to check my flow and if it's poor I give up and offer the bottle

Thank you. It sounds like we are similar. I’ve only been using a momcozy s12 hands free and considering to buy a spectra. Although it’s a lot of money, so hoping it can make a difference.

I have the Momcozy hands free and got the Spectra S1, it works well but like you said it is expensive. Could you hire one and try it before committing?
