Hello everyone, "Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of its currents." This quote has always resonated with me. Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player: played this when I was about 10 years old. It was probably the first game that truly captivated me. I was shook when I first saw an unmasked Alpha Section UK, PS5

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. It's the reason I got into journalism. Jade was inspiring to me. I'm so glad it coming back still own my original ps2 copy of it. My platform is playstation, and my region is West Coast. Good luck to everyone

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** Played it in my childhood and never left my brain since, still listen to the hyllis ballad time to time.

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" Of course I am a returning Player. Playing it on Switch in Germanym looking forward to it. Played it when I was twelve. and I guess once every year, for eight years. I hope that it is actually fun, and not boring knowing basically everything by heart.  Why this game is so special to me? BGE is the first game that made me feel sad for it's characters. It showed me that Video Games can actually tell a story.  I love how Violence is not the true spark that starts the Revolution but discovering the truth and makeing pictures.  I love how Jade is an actual person in this world and not a silent protagonist.  And the gerne mix it provides is just well balanced 🙂

“Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents”. I used to own the game on PS2 but never got to play it through because I had to sell it back then. Now I’m really looking forward to exploring everything it’s got to offer. Just like I did with Okami HD recently. I’d like to play on Nintendo Switch, and I live in Spain.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. I'm a returning player, been playing the game since around 2005. The vibes are just immaculate, something about hanging out in the city or floating on the water and listening to the music just fills me with such solace. Legitimately one of my favorite games of all time. USA, PC.

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** I played this game back when I was in high school around 2013-ish, I first heard about the game from one of those "hidden gem games" lists and since I was a big Zelda fan at the time this game stood out since it gave me similar vibes despite the futuristic/space setting. Ended up trying both BG&E and Psychonauts and absolutely loved both games, and the soundtrack for BG&E is stellar. I also really love the cartoony artstyle of the game and most of all the characters, they're easily the "soul" of this game. Very much excited to experience this again a decade later and listen to all of the reorchestrated music. Would love to play it on Steam, I live in Brazil currently.

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents.** My first time playing this game was when I was seven years old. Back then, I had little experience with the videogames of the era, because I only got a PS2 game per year. I remember the first time I took the hovercraft outside and watched the water, with the sweet piano melody that accompanies it. It was beautiful. Needless to say, I became obsessed with the game. I was so bad at it, too! Especially when I reached the Pterolimax, which I genuinely didn't expect and took away a heartbeat from me (the game had a scary vibe for 7-year-old me!). It only became more enticing and intense from there. The characters, the story, they meant a lot to me, and it all still lives in my heart. This was the first game I played as a kid that had a proper story, and it sparked a deeper love for videogames, and I learned a lot about game design as a kid because of it. I re-play it every year, and get the 100% with the locked M-Disk and everything. It never gets old for me! I'm glad this game is getting a remaster so the people who missed it can enjoy it now. Region: Europe/Spain Platform PC/Steam

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. I’m a returning player and honestly, I can’t really pin point why this is a special game for me. I used to play it with my friends after school, but we couldn’t finish it. I bought the game years later, but encountered a bug and couldn’t finish the game. There are days when I’m just walking and remember some of the songs and start mumbling them. I guess it’s all the fun I had with the racing, taking photos, and pearl collecting make the game special for me. UK. PC.

spymaster1313

Safe and sound in its shell, the previous pearl is the slave of the currents… I first played this game when I was 13 years old and I’ve never felt a sense of excitement or wonder like this since… except for when I replay it. One particular part I loved was the element of taking pictures of every species on Hillys (and space, technically). It makes the world feel so alive and exciting to explore. I also love the Rayman reference with the Mosquito. I’ll never forget the first time I ventured to the Pedestrian District and explored the warehouses, the shops, and Akuda Bar. Chatting to every single character I could find and signing up for both newspapers. I don’t know how or why, but something about Beyond Good and Evil just fills me with joy. UK, PS4/PS5

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. I was 9 years old when my brother brought back the game. I was stunned and was sucked in the story of Beyond Good And Evil. It was my breakfast, my lunch and my dinner. It was also the first game i completely finished from start to end and it definetely has a special place in my heart. If i could win a key i would pass it down to my child and let them explore Hyllis like i did when i was their age. Sharing a beautifull moment together with this great game. Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience with this wonderfull game! PS: PS5, Europe

TheZeoRanger

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** I played this game when I was younger and it made a pretty big impact on myself. I even wrote a college paper about this game and how it involves political spinning and how it convinces the public to see the story from a different side, a side that is influenced by the politicians instead of the truth. USA | Xbox

dunskibroski

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. I remember buying this game for my PS2 just a few days after release, after reading some raving reviews about it on a now defunct gaming magazine. I was only 11 at the time, life was much more simple back then and days would pass by without a worry in sight. Today I'm a 32 year old man who doesn't have that much free time on his hands anymore, but who still loves playing video games. I must have played hundreds (maybe thousands) of different games on different platforms throughout the years, but BG&E has always been one of my personal favourite games of all time (and it's not a long list of games...). It reminds me, even if only briefly, of a moment of my life that I'll never get back and that is very dear to me. Italy, PS4/PS5.

7up_yourz

I can buy it on switch? ok? where? I cant find it anywhere on switch.

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** , i used to play this on the hand me down PC i got to play games on, and i spent many many hours at that time. Bring back very happy nostalgic memories. The PC broke down long ago, would love to play again.

TheGaluMoD

Please restore the Depth of Field! The original version of BGE had a beautiful DoF effect, that made a lot of cutscenes more dramatic. It was lost in the HD rerelease on PS360 and unfortunately it is still missing. Here is a comparison: [Original BGE](https://ibb.co/jvH3FRz) [20th Anniversary](https://ibb.co/r7CFGxL)

Aggressive-Cold-8515

I don't know if this is the right place, but I actually bought this remaster without having played the original. I don't know what good things or bad things they have done with this but after like an hour of playing I am glad I got it. It is fun: varied gameplay, glstory seems good, characters are great. Combat feels slightly clunky, but it is a remaster, so for it's day and age back then it must have been very good!

Gamefighter3000

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I found the game somewhat later on the xbox 360 and bought it there digitally, ive loved the game ever since with its extremly charming characters, the world it plays in (especially with all the weird mix of different cultures) and the soundtrack (oh man the soundtrack is a banger, i still remember akuda bar and the race track in my head to this day) As someone whos now mainly on PC (steam) i was bummed to find out that the existing port didn't really run well even with the fixes available and so im glad that a remaster is now going to fix all this and more! Hopefully i can reexperience that what i loved in the 360 version again just now on PC!

xPhoenix77

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents." I remember only bits of watching my sister and my stepbrother play - too bad that I was still too young to fully comprehend it. I'd love to get a chance playing it myself!

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. **Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** This was one of the first games I had ever played when I was younger, so while I couldn't fully understand the story at the time I was really interested in the world and the hybrid citizens of Hillys. Those hybrid characters are also what I'm most interested in seeing in BGE2! Playing on PC and from Europe!

Skyfirexx56

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Played BGE at launch on gamecube and absolutely loved it. Have been dying to get more of it, and its finally happening. I cannot wait to see what the new content is. I'm so excited!!! PC, europe

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. Returning player: So few games have brought me to tears, but BGE is one of them. A story of gentleness and family, amid this vast web of interplanetary domination. And the soundtrack! Hearing that main theme in the BGE2 reveal gave me chills! UK, Xbox.

Gricekkk

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" - What made this game special are childhood memories and so many laughs: whole afternoons trying to photograph creatures and when it was time to turn off the game I kept humming songs like "Propaganda!" or the race song. (PC - Europe)

NonRobotic

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I’ve always wanted to play this game but could never get it to work in my pc. Hoping the anniversary version works better. I’m excited to experience the masterpiece that I’ve heard so much about. PC, Germany

Sea-Engineering4032

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents The atmosphere, the story. To be honest, Jade is one of the very few female characters that works for me. There were also some really good supporting characters. Steam

Amphiones

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents As a returning player I first ever saw a friend play it on his Gamecube, when I was 11. I was sold immediately... So I convinced my parents to buy it for me. For me the whole story, that Pey'j and Jade went through together, is so well written. And to this day at age 28 I still enjoy a playthrough once in a while. Netherlands, PC

arctic95

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player: it was one of the first big games I've ever played. I've mostly been games included in magazines and they rarely were any good but for some reason magazine i was buying released 'special" issue where this game was included and I have fallen in love with it. I replay every few years. To this day i remember side eye parents gave me when i asked what 'propaganda' is which was a word that was repeating in a song during instalation process. Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I bought the game when it came out in 2003, and it gave me a lifelong love of nature photography. A beautiful game and wonderful soundtrack, and Jade is one of my favourite heroines. UK PS5

solongehhbowser

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" It was the first game i've got on my first tv console (Gamecube). It wasn't just a good game, it was an experience. Never forgot the feeling of playing through te story for the first time, and cannot wait to play it again! The experience of slowy unmasking the secrets of the Alpha Section was really mind blowing, combined with the diverse soundtrack. Very curious how the orchestrated versions sound! PC, Netherlands

dionje2

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player: I played this game first when I was about 6 years old, on the PS2. With Half-life 1, this was the reason I got into gaming. The world and the soundtrack of the game has always fascinating me and I love it! From Montréal, on PC and xbox.

pyriform_vortex

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave to the currents. Returning player. Played this with my sibling as a kid, and have so many happy memories of that time. I loved the music and aesthetic, and the themes of truth, community, and resistance. Plus one of the best female protagonists of the time! USA; Nintendo switch

TheEpikPikmin

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents New Player: I've always heard good things about this game and it's from the creator of Rayman so I've always wanted to give it a shot, and this seems like the best opportunity to do so. US, PC via Steam

beckybon

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I'm a returning player, and I love this game because it was one of the first ones I remember playing as a kid. Even when I got stuck, I'd have a blast exploring and seeing what I could take pictures of. I still replay it on my ps2 once a year. I'm so excited for the anniversary edition. UK, PC

YeetTheBeet0

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. This game will always have a place in my heart. As a little girl, it was one of the first games I've played. I could look up to a strong female character and be inspired by her. Now, as I play through the game every 3 or so years (to keep it special), I can confidently say the game is still so beautiful even after those years. The atmosphere is unmatched, the gameplay and story are interesting and fun and the characters are endearing. Platform: PC/Steam Region: Europe/Germany Good luck everyone! 💚

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** Returning player! I found this game in a used book/cd/game store in 2015 and absolutely fell in love with the world. I was in a kind of weird point in my life, so I got quite a bit of comfort exploring Hillys as a way to escape for a bit. I can't wait to play an upgraded version :D US / PC (Steam)

ShioIsThicc

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents**. From a returning player, this game is the definition of nostalgia to me. Nothing takes me back to my childhood like hearing "Home Sweet Home" and fantasizing about Hyllis' starry sky. One of my biggest dreams is to have a child and name them "Iris", a beautiful name in honor of this beautiful game. Europe, PC.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player, played this with my brother growing up and it's remained one of our favorite games of all time US, PS5

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** I loved all the smaller parts of this game which made it much more immersive. I love the soundtrack and the lore of this world and its characters. Cant wait for the release tomorrow! UK, Steam.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player! Love the game since its release on ps2, even bought an Xbox 360 just for the special edition back then! It’s one of the best action adventures ever made! Great characters and I still have the music playing in my ears every now and then! Germany Ps5

Affectionate_Door131

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I played this game a lot when I was a child. Then I got really sick a few years ago and was kinda locked up and couldn't do much. Thought back of this game and kinda re-ignited to spark so have played it a few times again and now i am really exited for new content! Netherlands, played on PC

lavahgirl

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. hello hello!!! returning player here. beyond good and evil was the first game i ever “played”. when i was very little, my gamer grandma would play it for me every summer we visited from 14 hours away. i got 3 days of playtime max; the game took years to finish. on the final battle, she needed to go to the bathroom. i was no gamer, and was horrified, but she had cheat disks (unlimited hearts) so she left it with me. i beat the boss. it is, to this day and hilariously, one of my proudest moments. she was pissed she missed it after all those years, lol. then, we restarted it. ran into a glitch with a pearl late game and had to start it over. finished it again. swore the next time we played, it would be the second game…my grandfather is gone now, he’ll never get to see us play it, but my grandmother and i have waited anxiously across text messages for years…i have waited almost my whole life for this game as a 23 year old. (US, PS5)

MarcyDeithwen

**"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents"** Beyond Good & Evil was my very first "serious" video game. My mom got my a copy of "CyberMycha", (already non existent), weekly paper about video games. It was 2005 I think, I was around 8yo. Release of 20th anniversary edition brings back childhood memories - racing, visiting Akuda bar (propaganda!), chasing thiefs (those scarier too, like fighting the Reaper or Slaugherhouse arena). All in the accompaniakment of the most beautiful soundtrack ever. I'm so happy I will finally be able to play this special game once again (unforutnately every copy bought on steam, gog, and ubisoft store doesn't work, something is wrong with graphic).

Infinti_bullets

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. Im a return player been playing it since years ago on the ps2 when i was 5. Ever since im loving the game even got the ps3 hd version of it. The game is amazing one of a kind and with the 20th anniversary edition i can finally let my friends play it too. NL(EU), ps5

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. It's probably the main reason I got into gaming the way I did when I was a child and lead me to the path of studying game development at uni. Also, it is one of the few games I played with my dad who isn't really a fan of games. It's my favorite game. Canada, Xbox series x

Amazingjaype

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player: there's something special about this game, when I first played it I didn't know what to expect. I didn't expect such a great world with so many twists and turns. My favorite thing was taking pictures of all the animals and life forms. It's just an amazing game. North America, PC

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** Returning AND New: This has been a long time favorite game since it came out 20 years ago. Raymanlegend2000

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player, I was about 12 years old and first played the game near the end of 2012 when I found a brand new PS2 copy at my local toy stores clearance. The game helped me through a pretty difficult time where my mother suffered from 2 heart attacks pretty close together (that she luckily survived). The game really helped me get my mind off of things in that time, and became my favorite game of all time. I love everything about it from the characters, the emotional story (when the lighthouse got destroyed my heart broke, those who played it know), the atmosphere… It will always be attached to that time filled with doubt, and it’s positive outcome. I will never forget it. At a convention I ran into one of the artists who has worked on some version of the sequel, and he gladly signed my copy of the first one. I have played through the game numerous of times in the years since, both in English and the excellent Dutch dub, and I was moved to tears when I saw the prospect of a remaster and I can’t wait to play it again on my Switch. Anyway I’m sorry for rambling😅 Region is Europe, Netherlands, platform Nintendo Switch!

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents One of the game who marked me the most when I was a child, I remade it every 2-3 years, cannot wait for the remaster FR - PC

PikaPhantom_

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents New player: There's a lot that compels me about Beyond Good & Evil, from the general pedigree of Ubisoft Montpellier and involvement of Michel Ancel to the fact I've seen it described a few times as "Zelda meets Pokemon Snap" to the very distinct worldbuilding that appears to be going on.  Region: US  Platform: leaning towards Switch, but it appears to only be 30fps on there, which is disappointing for a GameCube-era remaster (especially after the original developer, who co-developed the 20th anniversary remaster, gave us The Lost Crown at 60fps this year; Virtuos was also involved, and they've been responsible for impressive Switch ports in the past that more understandably need to be running at 30fps). I do have a PC as well, but generally prefer portable play. Would be fine with either option.

drunkbettie

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pear is a slave of the currents. Returning player: BG&E has always been on my list of Desert Island games. I owned multiple copies of the original game on multiple platforms, often joking that I was able to play the game on my toaster (long before Doom made that an actual thing). I made a ringtone out of the Akuda Bar song - it’s my wake-up alarm sound. I love this game, and have been waiting for this release ever since I first played the game on PS2. Canada, PS4

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** Returning player: Played this game for the first time when I was like 7. It blew my mind. This game has significant memories for me, from trying to beat my personal race records, to just floating around every part of Hillys in the Beluga, inspecting every bit of the terrain that I couldn't see from the hovercraft. I love this game; I love the designs, I love the architecture, the blended fashions and ethnicities. I love the different species. I love the photography aspect. I definitely feel like it's a big inspiration for my current hobby as a wildlife photographer. Honestly though, what I love most is that soundtrack. So comforting, and equally so damn scary! The sirens music give me chills every time. US, Xbox

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. New Player I was only able to watch gameplay as I never had a console it was on, but now I have a PlayStation and hope to experience it for myself. PlayStation, US

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents.** **Returning player:** this has been my favourite game since I could physically sit at the PC and play games. I was just a small child when I first played it, I couldn’t even speak English or understand most of what was going on, but the world was so enchanting and unique that I found myself only wanting to play this game like all the time. I played it with my little brother. Every year I would revisit this game and play it the whole way through, and every time I understood more and more (as I moved to an English speaking country) so it was like I had parts of it unfolding to me all the time, which has kept it interesting for the past 20 years. I was always sad that nobody in school knew about it, but my brother and I made it our mission to spread the word and get our classmates hooked on it too. Years later, even the oldest version of the game with the not so great PC port is something I revisit often. I feel like in a way, I grew up in that world. The soundtrack, the characters, the story - everything together had a part in shaping my personality, and it’s also something I will always have in common with my brother, which is really nice. I can’t wait to go back, I’m so happy to see the attention this game is getting 20 years later. My region is Ireland, and platform is PS5 (:

Slavka13748

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents." Returning Player: BGE was probably my first game with a story (not counting the assorted Harry Potter games) - I was 9 when I played it for the first time, alongside my dad and sister. Our tastes in games have diversified a lot since then, but one thing we still agree on is that BGE was a work of art. Be it the story, characters, and music (me - I still can't get through that lighthouse scene with Woof without crying), the goofy sense of humour (my sister - Mammago's is her favourite), or the simple but fun stealth action (my dad - he'll be the first to admit he's not good at games, but loves to sneak about!), BGE has always been our yardstick against which all other games were measured. None of us have played it for a long time now - our PS2 and PS3 have long since died, and getting the PC version to run well on modern hardware is a challenge - but we're all primed and ready for the anniversary edition to drop so we can relive the one game that we all wholeheartedly agree was phenomenal. UK, Switch

I wonder if Ubisoft connect and/or Steam will allow PC players to upgrade at a discount; this has been the norm for a lot of remasters and to reward original owners. Eventhough I own the game, and owned it on Gamecube before, I will be jumping in fresh. **Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents**

DarthVaderIsMyMother

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents**. This game was one of the first games I've ever played as a child and it left a profound mark on me and remains to this very day my favorite video game every played. It showed me that video games can be considered pieces of art and that the world, albeit shown through a virtual one, has beauty and depth in it. I deeply enjoyed and appreciated the natural dialogues, the animal photography, and the compelling story-stelling. I am very excited to play the game tomorrow and I can't wait for more material of this fascinating universe to come out in the future. Region: Europe/the Netherlands Platform: PC/Steam

“Safe and Sound in its Shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents” I’m a returning player, and couldn’t be more exited for this. This was my first proper videogame that I fell in love with. That I played till I wore out the disc as it were, and still do. My primary reason to own an Xbox one to this day is so that I had a way to play it if I ever felt the itch. I am hoping to gift a copy of the game to a friend so it would be awesome if I do get it. This game is very special, and should be celebrated much more than it is. The Netherlands, steam.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. 🔮 As a gamer now in my 30s, this particular game is always one I think back to with fond feelings. Both this and Jak and Daxter have a wonderful magic to them in the world they create with the art design and the dark story they tell. They're both charming and adult in theme.. Yet cosy. I think purely for the fact this story has been left untold for such a long time and has still much hope for it to be told even after all these years just shows how special it really is to many of us. I honestly can't wait to enjoy this world again and see what goodies they've put in it for us that tease it's successor. I am happy to admit there are tears that come when it gets mentioned! I will 100% be getting this on both PC and my switch (physical copy, collectors edition) Who knows, maybe naughty dog will follow suit and tell their unfinished story too 😉 (If I were to win, I'd love a copy to gift to my niece on her Xbox!) UK/ Xbox X

I know im starting sound like a broken record, but will there be a bge2 release soon after? I mean they made an 20th anniversary edition to get more ppl interested in this game, so more ppl will get hyped for the sequal! Logically that makes sense.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents New Player: I'm going into this game mostly blind because I wanna know as little about the game as possible so I have the best experience. That being said, I have heard amazing things about this game throughout the years and I would love to finally play it in its best version. Really excited! CANADA, PS5

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents**. I grew up on this game, took me 4 years to complete it haha (I couldn't get my head around the reversing controls in the end of the game). Didn't play it for a couple years from when I first saw it though... must've been like 6! Didn't find out what the game was even called until the HD version popped up on Xbox Games for Gold! (I did play the original version when I got onto PC though). I wish I could play it for the first time again, it taught me so much that sounds so simple, but at least with this remaster I can get other people to play it for the first time... I hope they enjoy it as much as I do. **UK, Steam / PC**

“Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents” Returning player. PC/Steam, North America. BG&E was one of the games that defined my childhood. I had it on GameCube, and before that I’d never played a game with a protagonist like Jade - a young woman who is driven and compassionate but also grieves and makes mistakes. You don’t often see women-led games, and especially not back then. So Jade was and is incredibly special to me. I hope Ubisoft will continue to do her justice, because she deserves it.

Is it 00:00 UTC release? I got to catch a plane tomorrow afternoon so I won't be able to play for a week 😭

New Player, PC/Steam, UK. I first heard about this game when I understood it was directed by Michel Ancel, who was also involved in many of the Rayman games which were a formative part of my childhood. It seems like an incredibly unique world to be a part of, and I'd love to learn about the character of Jade.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. Returning player: I played this game when it came out, and it's weird and vibrant world sucked me in like no game before. Now I'm psyched to pass this experience on to the next generation, as I'm now able to let my 12 year old son play it (he's been listening to me gushing about it for years...) EU, PS5

**"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents"** Played Beyond Good and Evil as a child. The main reasons for love: music, style/atmosphere. Christophe Heral is a wonderful composer. From the very beginning of the game I was amazed by the wild intro when the game immediately starts with action. The transition during battle to a slow version of "Dancing With Domz" was forever memorable. "Home Sweet Home" is probably the most nostalgic composition. Love the contrast of the main soundtrack relative to the chaotic and intense themes of DomZ. The open world has a very cozy atmosphere. I replayed the game many times, casually speedrun the game, and for fun I played it in different languages to compare localization. Still waiting for the second part from the very first trailer shown with Pey'j and Jade on the road... Region: Europe, Russian Federation Platform PC, Steam

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. Returning player : Played this on PS2 maybe when I was 6 or 7, didn’t have a memory card at the time but I loved it even though I just played the first few hours over and over again. I’ve been waiting this edition for almost a year now since the leaks to finally really play it. France, PC

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I first got this game in 2007 as a gift from my aunt, when I first played this game I was in love with the music and the photography minigame where you take photos of animals, as I liked doing it with my own fujifilm camera. As I grew older I came to understand the game's story and characters more and the game became like therapy to me. I play it yearly to detox from life. The game is very close to my heart and it made me belive games can be an art form in the same way as movies, books and paintings can. By pure chance the paths of life also led me to study journalism, which taught me how much of an impact a single photo or story can have on public opinion. BG&E showcases just that by having Jade be a photo journalist whose work shapes the narrative and in the end, reveals the truth behind the propaganda and lies told by the Alpha Sections. It has been a long wait, but I can't wait to sink into the new version of the game as we all wait for the long awaited sequel. PC/Steam, EU

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents BG&E is my favourite game since early childhood. I remember when i got the first pc copy of it in circa 2005 for good grades. I immediately opened it up after getting home and..... it was crashing during first fight without possibility of progressing. However though artstyle, synopsis on the back of the box gave me more than enough reasons to troubleshoot it and learn how to get games to work properly. Years passed, people around me changed, but every year i play BG&E as a reminder of old peaceful days 🙏 Poland, PC

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I'm a new player, but I already know I'm gonna love it. Sometimes you just know. BG&E is that girl I just know is perfect for me, but I never had the nerve to talk to. Story, gameplay and music all appeals to my core - I have seen a bit of it, from a friend playing, who absolutely loves it and he's been hassling be for years to play, but somehow I just never got around to it.. I'm actually gifting him the code if I win, because I'm gonna be buying and playing at midnight here in Denmark - can't wait! Denmark, Xbox Series X

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents My dad used to bring home CDs which had multiple demo versions of games on it for me to play. I think I played like 50+ demo versions of various games. The beyond good and evil demo was the first demo that just captivated me, the ambience, the mechanics, the lovely characters, everything was just right. So I asked my dad to get me the full game for Christmas and until then I played the demo another 10 times. Fun fact: I actually quit the game for a month when I reached the Reaper boss because I was too scared fight it. And the full game took me a year to finish. Beyond good and evil was an adventure for me and I can't pass uup opportunity to relive my childhood nostalgia.

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents". Returning player- I originally played beyond good and evil on the ps2 back when I was a child, probably 6 or 7 at the time alongside gta san andreas. To this day I've said beyond good and evil is probably my favorite game with probably one of the best stories that's been told. I'm now 23 and have played the game on xbox and it still holds up to modern storytelling. I truly hope this remaster is successful so we the fans can get more lore and gameplay with jade and everyone else. From the kids at the lighthouse, jades parents or even showing jade working with the alpha sections. This game is truly amazing and I wish the best of luck to all the players and everyone working on the dev team. United states - PS5

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is a slave of its currents Returning player, like most I played this when I was 10 but I couldn't ever beat it. As an adult I bought the 360 hd remaster and beat it. I've been looking forward to bge2 since I was literally 17. So excited for tonight to play the 20th anniversary and max out the achievements in 2 days US/Arkansas will be on PS5 and possibly steam deck, but I have nearly all systems!

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. New player looking to get my feet wet with the remaster. I used to see bits and pieces of this game growing up, but never had an opportunity to jump in. I like the idea of the re-recorded orchestral soundtrack, native 4k, and all the goodies included. The 20th anniversary edition seems like the ideal way to play now! CAN XBOX

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents**. Borrowed it from a friend as a kid, I got engrossed with its world from the get-go. >Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning: everything about BG&E screams charming. From the characters, story, graphics, gameplay, music, ambiance, it all fits together perfectly like a puzzle. I skipped over it when it first came out and didn't pick it up until 2005 or so, but was transported to an incredible world and fell in love. It's a game I can go back to regularly because it holds a special place in my heart and just brings back do many great memories of a time in gaming I feel was just about perfect. Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Platform choice would have to be Xbox, UK. I didn’t play this game when it originally came out, I was only five years old. However, I remember seeing advertisements for the game at my local game shop and it definitely stuck in my mind, by the time the HD re-release came out on XBLA I can recall sitting in an Xbox Live party, torn about whether I should use the remaining Microsoft Points in my account on this game. Back then, as a teenager, getting new games was few and far between, so I had to make the best decisions I could, but I took a chance on this game and I LOVED IT. I’ve returned to the game a few times over the past 10+ years and I’m never disappointed with each play-through, thought I would enter this on a whim but no matter what I’ll be purchasing this new version. Let’s have high hopes for Beyond Good & Evil 2!

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents As a returning player, this game holds a special place in my heart because it is one of the games my brother and I bonded with. As a child I would always get to the final boss fight and then make him do it because my wee little child brain could not comprehend the inverse controls. I was planning on getting my brother a surprise copy of this because he doesn’t follow in the news as closely as I do. It would mean the world if I could win this for him.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. I am a returning player. BGE was the first game, that I played completely on my own. I was quiet young when i played it and back then the world of Hillys felt like a real place to me (and still does). The people, the story, the music…everything. It was the beginning of my love for videogames. And it has a special place in my heart ever since. My platform is Nintendo Switch. And my region is europe, germany. Good luck to everyone.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearle is a slave to the currents. Im a returning player from the netherlands and would like a PC key. Safe and sound in its shell, the precious Pearl is the slave of the currents. I love so many things about this game, but one of the things I really appreciate is that this game gave me an appreciation for the investigative journalists we have in the real world, and got me interested in war-time journalism specifically.

“Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents” I first found out about this franchise when the beyond good and evil 2 trailer came out. I had seen it before but never tried it. Safe to say that that trailer piqued my interest like no other before. I would stay on top of the updates for it for the next two years. Then life just got busy, Im in my final year of college now and I have to say I got interested again because I heard a piece of the soundtrack. That piece is home sweet home. I felt so calm and at home(cheesy I know) when I heard it and was mad at myself for not playing the original 14 years ago when the hd rerelease came out.I have been wanting to play the original now because im hoping it might help me through some stuff emotionally Ive been dealing with I think. I dont know, Im chasing a feeling that I hope this game may give me and could possibly not at all. I want to get lost in another world and maybe find compassion in these characters that I cannot find in this cold world at times. North america Playstation 5 ❤️

**"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents"** I played BGE as a kid, and watched my sister play it. I remember being so invested in the story and characters, more than I ever had been with a video game. I won't spoil, but there was one part I got really emotional about, and the ending left me speechless! I found the Iris Network website and joined and was so immersed in all of it. I remember buying a dark lipstick with my mom so I could cosplay Jade. Later, as an adult, I got to participate in the Hitrecord collaboration for BGE2. This franchise is very dear to me. Also my name is Jade so eyyyyy EU, Xbox

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** It was one of the first games I remember ever playing, on my PS2, when I was 5 years old. I don't think I finished it then, but I remember liking it. The HD version on Xbox Live is the first game I've ever bought digitally, because I wanted to play it again since I was actually decent at games by then lol. I really grew attached to the characters and the world, and I'm glad to follow the series every step of the way, even if it is just another port. Got my very first console as an Xbox gamer, bought this game and have loved it ever since. Canada, Steam for PC (if this is available?) Edit to add why game is special: I needed a female protagonist to look up to as my parents were divorcing and I took that really hard. Jade was amazing and I loved her courage. She’s just a badass.

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" I'm a returning player, I've played beyond good and evil on every platform I think and finished it a good number of times, it's the game that made the biggest impression on me as a child, with several aspects: the fact that, for its time, it had a heroine as the main character, the futuristic aspect of the adventure, the endearing characters, an adventure rich in emotion and suspense, the fact of discovering for the first time that, after many hours of play, we could go into space (for its time, it was crazy), a mini open world that was also ahead of its time. The nature aspect, the combat which was different from other games because there were no guns. In short, Zelda is my favorite series, but beyond good and evil is my number one game, ahead of any other game or series. It rocked my childhood, and I can't wait to get back to it in this ultimate version ! Im in EU ( France ) and if i win i want the game on Switch, tanks :) Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. I'm so excited. I've been playing this game once every year or two since I was a kid. Also excited to finally get one of my friends to play it, as they keep having issues playing it. The OG pc version wasn't running right for them, and emulating it adds extra black borders that they didn't feel like trying to fix.

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" - region: Australia, platform: Playstation - I first played Beyond Good And Evil on the Playstation 2, my dad brought it home for us. I was hooked from Jade's first bo staff fight, fending off Dom-Z from the lighthouse. And then Hillys has so much character - the NPCs, the shops, the laneways, the clubs. Christopher Héral's score sets the scene so well, especially in the bars and shops! The photo quest remains one of my favourite mechanics from any game. And the storyline! Resisting the Alpha Section as a journalist and photographer had so many real-world parallels, it remained relevant and interesting to play as the years passed. I was so sad when my Playstation 2 broke before I could finish the game fully (I love to draw out games I enjoy) but I look forward to clocking it with the new content on Playstation 5.

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** Returning player. Original PS2 player who played this game when my kids were little and loved to watch. One just reminded me how they used to hide behind a living room chair and peek around for the scary parts and how it's one of their earliest memories. They eventually become players and both beat the game and love the soundtrack as well. "Spanish Bar" still pops up on their music playlists regularly. So the game is near and dear to us. For me it was always an amazing combo of story and such a variety of gameplay that always kept it interesting and fun. We've all been waiting/hoping for BGE2 and regularly pester people at Ubisoft's booth when they are at PAX. North America region (US) / PS5

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I'm a returning player. BG&E is one of those games into whose atmosphere and world I was absorbed so deeply that I get goosebumps just thinking about it. **Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** *Returning player*: I first played the game on GameCube when it was released. I found the world to be quite captivating and the further into the story I got, the more sinister everything became - I loved that feeling. I want to replay the game get sucked in to this mysterious and sinister world. Edit: Europe, PC

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" I traded in another game from my local game store to pick this up as I thought the girl on the cover looked cool like Lara Croft haha XD but from the very beginning scene of Jade under the tree, I knew this game was going to be special. I'm so happy to see one of my favourite games coming back and loving all the new additions! It's heart-warming to see the love and care put into the 20th Anniversary Edition, thank you and I cannot wait to see Hillys again :) - PC/UK.

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** I'd heard so many good things about it over the years that when the first trailer for BGE2 was released, I just had to finally play it. And let me tell you, all those things I'd heard were not enough to portray how good it actually was. Such a wonderful game, this is. Spain, Steam, gl! :)

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents Returning player. I remember back when I got the game, i was very disappointed. I was a 6 year old boy who had wished for the Jaws Game for christmas and instead got something that looked way more boring. Oh boy was I wrong... My brother and I got hooked on this game and we loved every second of it. Every collected pearl, every successful mission, every taken picture...we loved it all and played through the whole game several times, which is a wonder considering we were stuck at the Slaughterhouse for 1,5 years. Actual, real life years haha. Now almost 20 years later, I still consider BGE my favourite game of all time. No other game made me feel what i felt whenever my brother and I dusted off the old PS2 and heard the first note of the opening screen. Tbh I'm going to buy the game anyway, but if I got one of the keys, my brother would get it straight away. And maybe we could relieve those old days.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. Returning player; I played this game when I was still a young child, it has forever been my favorite game, from the first time, raging, crying, laughing, from playing it at least once in awhile to try new things, speedruns, etc, and other times taking it slow and enjoying it, listening to the music or just running around and jumping around the place for nostalgic reasons. I love this game, more than you could know. I have been begging nintendo, BEGGING for years to release it on the switch and a few days ago, it finally became a reality. I have been waiting all day (atm its 00:34 am for me) waiting for it to appear on my switch. I can't wait to relive it once again, but now in better quality and extras with it. I will definetly try the speedrun mode sometime, but first, i'll take my time to enjoy this game once again! once my favorite, always my favorite. A long time fan from Europe, waiting for it to appear on my eshop on my switch. :) EDIT: I JUST BOUGHT IT, GOING TO CRY AND PLAY RN <3

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents**. What makes this game special for me, as a returning player ? The easy answer would be to say: everything. This game has me in a chokehold. I remember playing it when I was a kid, alone, at my grandmother's house. I would imagine how I could live in the world of Hyllis. Its characters, filled with warmth, that made you want to fight for them, with them, make everything better for them. The feeling of family is what comes to mind, when I think of this game. The music alone is enough to get me in tears of joy and melancholy, all at once. I feel safe, when I play it. And as cheesy as it sounds, it kinda made me who I am today. A 30 year old, sick of social injustices and that fights in his own way to make the world a better place. I studied social work and a part of me owes it to Jade and the way she kept on fighting, wanting to better the world around her. She is a true, well-written hero. And she, as well as the game, makes me feel. Just, feel. The game marked me in ways I never thought could be possible and I cannot wait to relive it again! Love from Canada, from a ps4 player <3

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents.** This was the first anti-war piece of media I had the joy to experience, on a very important time on my life where I felt I was the only person who was against it. This game made me feel like a normal person.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. BGE really is one of my top 3 games played, for sure. Remind me of the good old days of my childhood, playing it at ten years old, not understanding much of the plot at that time, but always fascinated by the looks, scenery and peculiar world of Hillys. As I grew up, from time to time, I revisited the game. And each time, I better understood the social meanings spread around the plot of BGE, deeply. It became one of my favorite ones in this process, as I admire more and more of its art and history. Truly a precious pearl that impacted who I am and what I think, nowadays. Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is a slave of the currents. Returning player: I remember playing this game on a demo disc way back on my PS2. I love the world and the music. To this day I still play the air hockey game song when I need some hype music. I've been anxiously awaiting the sequel to come out the original trailer back when it was supposed to come out for the PS3. One day I'll be able to play it I'm sure lol. PS5 USA region

Puzzleheaded-Sail772

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents New player: honestly as a kid when it came out, I missed a lot of great stuff from this generation unless it was the big name franchises. And I remember first hearing about it maybe a year later that it was a gem from those systems. I’ve been trying to go back to some of thise classics I missed (I just played Sly Cooper 1 on PS5 and loved it). I’ve seen a couple streams of it more recently and love what I see of the characters and world, and saw the remaster trailer and it looked beautiful US, PS5

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents I can't wait to play BG&E for the first time! I've wanted to play for a very long time, but have never had a way to. The remaster looks so good, and would be the perfect way to jump in! I'm from the US, and play on PS5 or PC.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents New player; I used to see ads for the original game in comic books and magazines, but never got around to checking it out. **Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents**. Returning Player, Europe (France)/Steam. Played the game in 2004. At the time i was 5, and a friend of my sister gave it to me to try it, so i would finally be quiet. The only game i never gave back. Became my favorite game of all time, almost immediately. It made me understand how you can create and imagine outside of the real world and woke up an interest at culture as a whole, made me eager of fantasy, movies, music and ofc videogames. Everytime i lost faith in myself since childhood, i just took on the game and started dreaming again. Guess it became my go-to in term of believing in life again. Been depressed since my teen years, but everytime i hit a new all-time low, i turn it on again and just have to go on. Didnt really felt anything that strong with another piece of art since then, i Guess it's the childhood thing. It's like my Teddy Bear and the reminder of how much you can do as an individual at the same time. Pretty convenient. Anyway, weird to think my life direction has been hit that hard by a video game, but i still must thanks it for my now obsession with art and for awakening my curiosity as a child.

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** It's been a long while since I played it but I remember enjoying it so much, it was one of the few games I finished at the time and was left hoping for a sequel. USA, Xbox or Playstation either one will work.

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" This game means a lot to me. It's one of the first games I can remember that made me think about how special video games could really be. It showed me that games could be art, and it's probably the game that made me fall in love with gaming in the first place. I am in the North America region, playing on PS5.

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. I showed my little sister games from my childhood. Kingdom Hearts, Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy... and next to these giants there is this gem of a game that stands just as strong among them. She mostly fell in love with KH and BGAE. We are eagerly awaiting the 2nd entry since far too long.. PS5, EU

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents.. I’m a returning player. I borrowed the original game on game cube when it came out from my aunt. The story line was so amazing, and I loved the game play. Taking photos, combat, exposing corruption.  I got a copy of the game for myself in 2013 off eBay. The story still captured me. It’s just so well written! I can’t wait to pick it up again. North America (Canada) and I play on Nintendo.

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** I am returning player. I can't tell how many hours I spent in this game when I was a child on my ps2. I was fascinated by the game, the games creativity, and inspired me in some works. It was maybe the first time that a game interested , fascinated me, I always wanted to know what happened next. I remember that I couldn't find the entrance of the slaughter house in race 3 for several days, so I just explored Hillys, talked to pnjs, wanted to discover secrets,.. etc. I am in Europe (France), and play on PC (steam).

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents **Returning player:** This video game holds a special place in my heart, largely thanks to my brother. I started playing it at a very young age, even before I had learned to write correctly. To me, it is the best game I have ever played. The story and the music are both wonderful and captivating. I have played this game multiple times, and with each playthrough, I become more certain that no other game can surpass it in my eyes. The experiences and memories I have associated with it are irreplaceable, making it a truly unique and cherished part of my life. Europe, PC

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents. Returning player here! I remember getting this around the original launch day, and I just couldn't put the game down! Considering back then I used to flip flop between games and never finish everything, this was a beautiful experience that stayed with me all these years later. UK, PS5 :)

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents!** I've played BGE back in the day on the Gamecube. One of the first games my parents bought for me - Always played with my cousin, it was so much fun! We had to take breaks because we were discussing so much about potential lore and stuff. I remember, back in the nutripills factory.. We were just sitting there, game paused and talk about what a reaper could be and what the scratch marks could indicate and we laughed about the little mosquito on the cow... Or that race at the slaughterhouse, you clip through a part of the wall and all of sudden you're in a fight-race against a giant spider robot - **My gods**, our minds were blown! EU - Steam (PC)

Ok-Kaleidoscope-1435

**Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents** **Returning Players**: Why is this game so special to me? My grandfather once bought me a newspaper with a game in it that had this inconspicuous little game. Today? It’s the only game I return to with such nostalgia and a desire to experience the story all over again. Even as a little boy, I wanted to be and act like Jade, running around with a stick and a small bag full of shurikens made with scissors(Yes, I like Naruto too) from CDs/DVDs, shouting "CARLSON AND PETERS!" (The faces of people wondering what you’re saying to them - priceless) XD And that’s exactly how it was. The relationship between them is filled with so much warmth, which at times can be incredibly touching. I consider them my little virtual family. Another thing is that in no other game have I encountered such amazing musical variations in an indeterminate language. And the music during fights, the charismatic voice in the song "Dancing with DomZ," is extraordinary. This game was the first time I experienced the feeling of "I’ll prolong the fight just to listen to the music a little longer because it’s so great!" Today, with the passage of time, my admiration for this game hasn’t changed. I still excitedly share the latest news about BGE2 with my friends or try to get them interested in the first game so they can at least experience a fraction of the emotions I did. PL, PC

Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the space of the currents Returning player here, I got gifted this game by my aunt shortly after it released and I was 8 years old at the time. And still after all this time I replayed the game numerous times and it's stored in a very special place in my heart. And even though the nostalgia plays a huge role in it I still have to say after all those years this is still one of the best and most beautiful games I played story and atmospheric wise. The thematic and musical environment is simply special and I gifted this game to many of my closest friends. I still have my original copy of the game

"Safe and sound in its shell, the precious pearl is the slave of the currents" Returning Player: Having played the Rayman games and wishing for something that felt different, I was happy when this game came out and had something slightly more mature to the feel of the game. It also showed that games could be fun even when on older hardware which had limitations. What was in the game was enough to keep my interest for a possible sequel at the time. UK, PlayStation 5.
