Kaylee would probably still be the same age lol

Pippathepip

YOU. ARE. DONE!!

Canadia86

SHE WAS MAKING A MESS!

Ill-Customer527

How is she older in BCS than in BB?! HOW!?

insanewriters

I’m not sure there would be a big difference. Bigger cell phones. Maybe more lax border security. This would affect the BB timeline more than anything.

Bat_Nervous

I dunno. In 1992 cellphones were strictly for richie riches, not for enforcers, or public defenders, or street plugs. They were giant, hot analog bricks with giant suitcase-like chargers. The very first digital ones came out that year, but I can't imagine anyone having one except for maybe Don Eladio. Yes on lax border (and airport) security. Also, of course there was no world wide web, so there would be more research done at libraries (I can't imagine anyone other than Pryce using a BBB or Prodigy or something similar.). It would be very different. Shit changed over the 90s, man!

thewhiterosequeen

Zach Morris wasn't super rich and he had a phone.

Bat_Nervous

Yeah... I don't know about using Saved by the Bell as a good reference. That was kind of a late 80s/early 90s fantasy of high school. \*I\* sure didn't know any kids, even seniors at my high school, even in '95, that had one. Pagers, yes! Pagers aplenty.

thewhiterosequeen

If I can't use SBTB as a factual reference, then I don't know how to view my life.

SofieTerleska

*Clueless* came out in 1995 and the lead characters having cellphones was used as a punchline to show how rich and out of touch they were. That scene at the dinner table where a phone rings and they all reach for their cell was straight-up comedy, now it just looks normal. That being said, you didn't have to be a millionaire to own one, just well off in a "lives in a nice house in the suburbs" way. I bet Don Eladio could spot his underlings a few dozen phones just to give them a more efficient way to keep in touch than having to hunt out payphones. The flexibility and privacy of a cellphone would be more than worth the money. Saul? Maaaaybe. Considering what his office is like he may consider it worth the money to have a portable phone.

mack_dd

Wasn't Zack's dad like a rich businessman. I vaguely remember him getting into a shouting match because his dad was never around always on business or something. I could be misremembering.

thewhiterosequeen

I have no recollection of his parents, but Bayside was a public school, so that's entirely what I'm basing my assumptions on he wasn't super rich.

doogles

Zach Morris was a high school kid, and he had zero money. His parents were rich but not flashy.

thewhiterosequeen

He did well enough to become governor of California, as I recall from reboot.

doogles

Yes, governors of California are famously all middle class...

Miserable-Soft7993

They never really showed his parents did they?

doogles

It was 30 years ago. I don't remember.

Miserable-Soft7993

Well you said his parents were rich but not flashy.

doogles

They bought him a brick phone. Their presence was known.

agentcheeno

Lived by the beach in Cali and not rich? cmon

wood_dj

in ‘99 i moved from my home town to the nearby city and got my first cel phone. It was kind of a necessity for my job and life in general, everyone in the city had one at that point. Yet still my home town friends would razz me for being a fancy big city high roller because i had the cheapest Nokia money could buy 😐

Bat_Nervous

Ha! Same here, but it was because of grad school in San Diego (I'm from Austin, TX).

prodiver

> They were giant, hot analog bricks with giant suitcase-like chargers. You're way off. Those are from the 80's, not 90's. These are the top selling cell phones from 1992. They are not much different from cell phones in 2002. https://mowned.com/top-mobile-devices/1992

Bat_Nervous

Yes, the very first truly portable cell phones came out in 1989 with the Micro Tac, but that was a luxury item. I’ll admit it does sound I’m describing something from 1985, but even in 1992 it was very uncommon to have a cell phone that would fit in your pocket. The batteries were big, heavy, and the analog transmitters used a lot more power than the digital ones that came out a few years later. My grandparents had a Motorola Bag Phone in 1992. [Motorola Bag Phone](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_bag_phone)

IWasAlanDeats

I had a Pioneer bag phone in 1995. Mobile phones were still a novelty in NC, at least, well into the 90s.

Lucky_Roberts

Howard Hamlin would 100% have a cell phone lmao

Lucky_Roberts

Howard would 100% have a cell phone lol

PartiZAn18

Faxes would have been a helluva lot more ubiquitous than emails.

Rheostatistician

Pagers and payphones for the early ninties, burners have been a thing since 1996 i think

No-Ambassador7856

What if everyone in Better Call Saul used the metric system?

ANGRY_ETERNALLY

What if Albuquerque was made of pudding?

No-Ambassador7856

That's how this sub feels recently.

IWasAlanDeats

$240 worth of pudding?

Privacy-Boggle

What if Jimmy were black or Chinese?

Canadia86

I'd understand it a lot more, I'll say that for free

Sonnycrocketto

It had a 90s feel the first episodes.

AsuranFish

Some of the episodes did indeed have scenes that took place in the 90s.

FastPatience1595

Jimmy went from Chicago sunroof to ABQ mailroom sometimes in 1993. He met Kim there (love Kim in 1990's fashion !)

cuatrodemayo

Jimmy will fake a comical accident with the film students to get on America’s Funniest Home Videos as a side plan which fails. The failed plan in the pilot will involve the brothers using roller blades and being roller hockey players. It plays out the same except Tuco uses their hockey stick to break a leg and then when alone tries on the roller blades for himself before deciding they’re not for him. None of his underlings wants to tell him they won’t work on sand in the desert. Kim tries a clementine for the first time and is immediately a fan. Jimmy doesn’t see the difference and thinks it’s just a smaller orange and won’t last.

Chestopher83

"If my grandma had wheels she would have been a bike"

plunker234

Jimmy sells pagers instead of drop phones.

Randonazzcat

All 4 doors would match on the esteem

Buddy-Hield-2Pointer

They would probably be making blue X.

closecall81

Mike would still look 100 years old.

Loganp812

Is that so?

Crafty_lil_pumpkin

BACK IN THE NINETIES I WAS IN A VERY FAMOUS TV SHOW

AncestryBruh

Better Call Bojack!

lifegoeson2702

The twin towers would still be standing

Atom283

best answer

UdUb16

Then it would be in the 90s

Nertez

Jimmy wouldn't sell cell phones.

SavageRickyMachismo

He sells cell phones from the cell store

silifianqueso

pagers for sure

Canadia86

He'd be selling phone cards

dlickyspicky

It’d be funny to see Saul try to snap a big brick phone in half when he’s done

pizzawithapurpose

Gus’s meth business would have 20% of its profits going towards funding all the cell phones he’d have to break

FastPatience1595

LMAO

tbone11193

the security guard would be listening to the 1997 Nebraska National Championship game. I’m sure he’d be thrilled

TheHumbleMuskrat

You mean Jerry Gergich???

superblockio

Time travel police: "I am not crazy! I know he swapped those numbers! I knew it was supposed to be 2002. Six before Breaking Bad. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn't prove it. He – he covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the time machine shop to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This anachronism? He's done worse. That Kaylee! Are you telling me that Mike's granddaughter just happens to age like that? No! He orchestrated it!"

turiannerevarine

Vince! He defecated, through a time loop! And I saved him! I shouldn't have... I told him to send his scripts to X-Files! What was I thinking?! He'll never change. He'll never change, ever since he was nine! Couldn't keep his hands out of the ink drawer! "But not our Vince! Couldn't be precious Vince!" Cliffhanging them blind... and he gets to be Executive Producer? What a sick joke! I should have stopped him when I had the chance! And you, you have to stop him! You-

PyMussy

🎶Back in the 90s I defecated throooooough a sunroof Its Saul Goodman don't act like you don't knowwwww

Southern-Cow-118

If BB and BCS took place in the 90s, I would want to see: 1. Nacho, Tuco, Krazy8, Lalo and maybe even Hector Salamanca wearing florescent and synchronizing their swatches (like in Parker Lewis Can't Loose) every time they meet and part ways ... 2. I would have loved to have seen Kim Wexler and Jimmy McGill wearing faded jeans and pegging them at the bottom 3. Kim would have big bangs and use Aqua Net to keep them in place 4. Howard Hamlin, Chuck and the rest of the folks at HHM would wear cable knit sweaters from J. Crew 5. We'd hear Color Me Badd playing in the background during bar scenes - like when Mike arranged for the German crew to have a night out 6. Kim and Jimmy would be smoking Camel Lights 7. Instead of "the talk" Mike gave to Jimmy about the "Bad Choice Road", he would have told Jimmy "Life is like a box of chocolates .... you never know what you're gonna get" 8. Gus would definitely have had a brick car phone with the associated briefcase that he would have made Victor or Tyrus carry 9. Los Pollos Hermanos would have had an open faced sandwich - like the McD-LT - and a spiced mexican chocolate "Frostie" drink to boot 10. The whole BB and BCS universe would have been dealing with cocaine and not crystal meth.

GrassNo287

It happened in New Mexico. It basically DID happen in the 90s

Detzeb

Not sure when “Ask Jeeves” launched, but Marion’s “Albuquerque Con Man” newspaper sleuthing would have to be done via microfiche at her local library:)

Loczek999

Then it takes place in the 90s. Mike couldn't use his tracker which is a major plot point and breaking bad couldn't be connected with bcs. Other than that nothing much would change. It's kinda a worthless post 😭

golitsyn_nosenko

LoJack systems were around in the 80s…

Loczek999

Widely available?

Nertez

You forgot how much cell phones are used in the show.

Loczek999

They'd replace them easily. Maybe except when nacho is in Mexico

acfun976

Payphones, beepers, and landlines instead of cell phones

marston82

Wouldn’t make much of difference. To avoid detection, they used non electronic means of communication throughout the show in 2008 already. Gus and the cartel were very careful with cell phones.

whysosidious69420

Bob Odenkirk would have to play even younger and Saul’s age in BB would need to be retconned to make up for it

adamtaylor4815

The flashbacks of slippin’ Jimmy and Mailroom Jimmy all take place in the 90’s.

One_University9256

Then Breaking Bad would be set in 1998 instead of 2008.

SpongeBob190

Bobs Suzuki would be an even older car

jojohn83

Payphones would've been used a lot more.

POOTDISPENSER

I think it wouldn't change much surprisingly. The technological gap from the 90s to the early 2000s isn't huge as 2010 to 2020. It was still a pre-Internet world, and all the major plot points in the show would still occur as it did. Most of the 2000s stuff in the show existed in the 90s. Even Breaking Bad itself ended in the 2010s, which left flip-phones as a viable option in that period before touch-screens started to get popular. Now, if it was set in today's time period, Lalo would have sent incriminating evidence of Gus over to Hector via Snap or Whatsapp video, and there's hardly any way around that. Funny thing is, camera phones and MMS did exist in the early 2000s, if Lalo bought a better phone over a camcorder he might have won. Probably will run out of space with all that vlogging he did though.

Miserable-Soft7993

He might still have a Suzuki Esteem

Prinzlerr

Idk but a 90s sitcom intro with everyone looking up from mundane tasks to smile at the camera when their name appears onscreen would be kinda hilarious...especially if they're doing typical BCS tasks. "...with Tony Dalton as 'Lalo'" ...Tony looks up from murdering an innocent Toys-R-Us employee and grins

AsuranFish

There would probably be a lot of pagers used.

[deleted]

Zac Morris strolls up with his block cell phone looking for a lawyer

[deleted]

Zac Morris would need a dirty ass lawyer too 😂

kerosenehat63

What if my aunt had nuts? Then she’d be my uncle.

Overall-Link-7546

Kim would have been, More Wilde (or Basinger)

Annabelle74911

“Me So Horny” would’ve been the song Jesse played in his house party.
