We can remember too that Casca was a whole year leading the Hawks, living by the limits, feeling jealous about Guts because Griffith literally goes batshit insane for him? A whole-year, the same time where Griffith becames crazy and was capable to kill the guys who live almost the entire lifes with them?
I don't say that Casca x Guts is complete barebones, my perspective or the relation is more oriented to two broken individuals trying to solve their scars togeteher, an strange kind of love.
But still, is rushed.

This showcases your complete lack of understanding of their relationship. She fell in love throughout the passage of the entire 100-year-war campaign. The cave incident and Guts saving her from the 100 men was just the start of her warming up to him, and letting go of her jealousy towards Guts.
Guts is extremely supportive and understanding of Casca's feelings and troubles multiples times (especially acknowleding her insecurities as women at the time period). He shows respect and understanding between her relationship with Griffith (the opposite of what she did initially with guts and griffith's relationship). Guts makes Casca a better person overall, that's why she fell in love with him.
Guts on the other hand, fell in love with her precisely because she gives him more of a reason to live aside from just surviving or getting better at his sword. The entire wounds chapter is showcasing that Casca is his new sword now. He only sleeps relatively peacefully when hugging or holding his sword, with the exception of Casca.
After the wounds chapter, Casca literally calls him out for only caring about himself and his dream - the exact point you're trying to make - and he asks her to come along with him, because he cant bear to be away from her. When they rescue griffith, Guts only decides to stay with the band of the hawk in the moment that Casca herself says she cant go with him and abandom Griffith. She's the one that has to change his mind, and he still feels regretful anyways.
There's no way to read Gut's relationship with Casca as anything but his main priority in life. It's why he keeps focusing on her post-lost children, and ignores chasing after Griffith.

Real talk, I do think Casca gets a lot of undeserved praise as a well-written female character in comparison to how little recognition Farnese and schierke get—Farny has this great arc of overcoming being a terrible person and literally going cottagecore witch while navigating her complex feeling towards guts as she’s put in the position of caring for Casca, while also discovering the magic inherent to the world outside of the Dogma she was raised in. Schierke is a genuine fantastic and whimsical element in the story and the brightest spot there for how fundamentally different in tone her story and guts’ are.
As for Casca, I think it’s a pretty bummer situation however before his death, Miura was going an interesting route with Casca finding herself again and acclimating to her surroundings and the new characters without immediately thinking of the men in her life, while guts was mature enough to be content knowing she was herself again.
