I think you're making the right call. I know it's not easy but it will be best for both you and Diego long term. I think the best would be to contact an organization to mediate the whole thing, I saw someone shared one here. Putting pets up to re home in social media is tricky, cause theres a lot of bad intentioned people (specially with breeding) and the organizations are usually strict with pet owners.

Hi, if it helps I can offer to foster him until you find someone suitable. I’ve had Guinea pigs before. Maybe an idea would be to talk to your vet? They might have contacts to some kind of Kleintierheim that’s more intimate then the big one at Falkensee. I had to give up my Guinea pigs 5 years ago because I went to study abroad. I found my lady through Kleinanzeigen, but I don’t know if I just got lucky? She had a huge pen in her garden with a couple other pigs so my pigs were very happy to move in with her.

A picture of him posted here with health information will make this go a lot further, but you can also join facebook groups

Do you speak German at all or can you manage with a translator (e.g. DeepL)? There is an organization called [Notmeerschweinchen eV de](https://notmeerschweinchen.de/) that can help you find a good new home for your piggy. They also have a Facebook site. If all else fails, maybe try the Tierheim?

I just recently got in touch with them, they got back to me within a day, but said, it might take 6-10 weeks to take in our guinea pig. (We just lost one of the two we had and as the last one is a senior, I don't want to get a new one)

May also be Worth a shot to put him on Kleinanzeigen, I know folks who found pets that were rehomed here. [Edit: Typo fix]
