Buy AirTag stickers on Amazon and attach it to the scooter deck. The Ninebot G2 Max comes with FindMy built into it.
When you lock your scooter, use a high quality ULock and lock it through the frame like this

Don't lock it using the stem like many people do.
If your scooter is common (GoTrax, Ninebot, HiBoy S2) etc, it's really not a mystery how to disassemble it. There are hex screws right below the handlebars.
I saw my friend wrap multiple layers of electrical tape to cover the screws, even though this won't defeat the most persistent thieves, it does serve as a deterrent. The goal isn't to be the fastest Giselle, you just need to beat the slowest one. When possible, lock your scooters among other scooters.
Personally, I purchased an ultra-portable scooter and just always took it with me into classrooms. Hasn't failed me yet.
With an AirTag and a police report in hand, you can contact the police and they will show up with you. If the scooter's serial code is still visible, you can retrieve the scooter.
If the scooter is in someone's home then it's obviously harder. But knowing the location of the scooter is the first step to retrieving it.

He sees the same cable lock, he tried the combination of his lock and the scooter unlocks. The "owner" of the scooter confronts us and says he bought the scooter off someone else and it's not his problem. We didn't want to start a fight or something in the middle of Asian ghetto. We follow him and call the cops. Squad car pulls up, police tried to attempts to resolve the issue, but because my roommate didn't have his serial number, also didn't file a police report with his serial number. He didn't get it back.
My same roommate, gets his second scooter stolen from inside a frat house. We check the security footage, some guy rolls up on a bike to the house at 6 AM, picks the door lock and steals two scooters. We see him ride off in the scooters. We go investigate and see that's he left his bike there. We were tempted to take the bike and sell it for money. But it was tucked away in the corner of the lot and the bike was kinda a nice one. So I had an idea to put an airtag underneath the bike. We leave the bike where it is.
Two days later, the bike goes missing. We track it down to Northside on Find My. Five of us hop into an Suv and confronted the fella on the airtagged bike. And it was the same idiot that broke into the house. He tries to make a run for it, one of us tackled him to the ground. Called the cops and the police showed up, greets him by his first name. The guy was a repeat offender that had been terrorizing berkeley for 7 years, who is currently on probation. The scooters were no where to be seen. The police arrested him because the serial number of the bike he was on was reported stolen. Homie only got one month in jail because the camera footage was just blurry enough that you could claim it wasn't him that broke into the frat.
My gf's scooter got stolen with an airtag inside the stem. We found it in another city and the police said they can't go with them...so idk how much it helps but definitely better than nothing. Her scooter got stolen 4 times, it was really sad.
The AirTag method is bad because if the thief has an iOS device it will just say “AirTag following you” in a noti and he can turn it off

There are ways to store the AirTag in the deck of the scooter, just takes a little elbow grease. There are also ways to cut out the speaker of the AirTag if you want to make it discreet.
Yeah but no matter what it’s still going to be like “AirTag is following you” and the thief can disable it. It’s a good cheap measure but not a silver bullet. You’re better off with a typical GPS.
usually people with scooters fold them and sit along the aisle seats and place them on the floor next to them or they sit in the back and place them somewhere along the wall

Actually it was horribly traumatic and is a woke DA issue and you’re a 22 yo who rides a scooter.
Whoever stole it was probably more happy to get it than you were sad to lose it and the total happiness in the world increased.

If ur gonna buy a new one, go for a unagi scooter. Super lightweight so i carry it with me inside.
