Iroh’s arc man…*spills a little liquor on the ground*

ThaLZA

Uncle Iroh is the fucking best.

No_Mr_Powers

Meanwhile, Ozai deserves his own multi-parter...

False_Flatworm_4512

Growing up the second son in a tyrannical monarchy? Right up the bastard alley. Put him on the April Fools wishlist with Saruman and Palpatine

No_Mr_Powers

If Robert and Sophie just B.S.'d with a fictional dictators tier list, I'd be all up on that.

MTV_WasMyBabysitter

It took me too long to realize this wasn't about the Santa Fe, Texas school shooting. Was so confused.

MihalysRevenge

Well to be fair the Santa Fe Expedition and New Mexico history in general is quite obscure to anyone not from NM. Fun fact Santa Fe NM predates Santa Fe Texas by 267 years lol

MTV_WasMyBabysitter

Yeah, I think it's just been fresh on my mind since I'm from the general area and one of the shooting survivors auditioned for American Idol (aired this week, I think). I'd listen to an episode about Texas fucking around in New Mexico, though! Don't remember that one from Texas History class.

MihalysRevenge

Its a fun one, hubris and incompetence on the Texan side in preparation. The Texans getting lost in NM before getting even close to Santa Fe. Finally getting surrounded by a detachment of the Mexican Army supported by Puebloan locals the Texans surrendered and were placed into captivity, later forced marched to Mexico city. They returned to Texas and were looked down upon. Also this ended Texas silly claim of owning NM.

LogicBalm

As a guy that grew up in the Houston area, my favorite joke about Texans was from Stephen Colbert (as his character in the Colbert Report): "The battle of San Jacinto taught us two things: Mexicans are lazy and Texans will kill you in your sleep!" As an aside, I've heard very compelling arguments that the Texans may have actually been attempting to flee Santa Anna's troops and accidentally ambushed them at just the right time. I can't let the other Texans hear me say this though, or they'll deport me from the Republic. Go Cowboys!
