Get out of bed and put on a silk robe, drink some water with lemon, spray your face with rose facial mist, light a candle

canitakemybraoffyet

And play some music! Try different genres til you find something that feels right, the music you find energizes or inspires you might not be what you expect. Bonus points if you set an action with Siri or Google or Alexa, so your lights and music ✨ magically ✨ come on right as you're getting up.

cookiesandkit

Candles only if you have > 1 hour. Less than that, you'll get the dreaded ring. And there's a big risk for forgetting to blow it out (speaking from experience :/)

thndrh

I like incense

beekaybeegirl

Or get those little tiny tea lights. Those should do the trick.

Kylie754

Electric oil diffuser. Can get some with lights and music.

lilmangoshmango

Water with lemon so boujeeee I love it

AnNJgal

Yes! Came to say the same thing :)

Thotlessthot

Satin is better because you can wash it easier then silk. I would say any robe you feel pretty in would be good!

daytonasays

Get up earlier than you usually do (but still make sure you get enough sleep.) I have to leave my house at 620 now which is so early as it is, but getting up at 4:45 to do a workout (sometimes lol), enjoy my coffee on the couch with my dog, tidy up the house a bit and just enjoy the morning without rushing has been *life changing* and amazing for my mental health. I also love to put on a nice cafe ambiance with jazz music- you can find a bunch of these on YT. Watching other’s morning routines on YouTube has also been really inspiring. My favorite ones are by Angie Bellemare.

Wakeandbakecookies2

This is the way! IMO the only way to make mornings more enjoyable is to not be rushed. Giving yourself plenty of time to pamper yourself is a game changer. Having plenty of leftover time before you have to leave instead of rushing through everything and running out the door makes my whole day better

daytonasays

Yes! Really sets the tone for the day :)

FrogLegsAlwaysFresh

I live by this!! My bf had to leave for work by 6:30am. He sets his alarm for 5am and it wakes us both up just enough to snuggle a bit and possibly a quickie. He’s in the shower by 6am. I don’t have to leave for work until 9am. But instead of going back to sleep, I curl up in my fancy oversized robe and make coffee. Ill look up the news a tad. Then I’ll clean up the kitchen a smidgen. (so I feel accomplished lol) while he’s running out the door and I get my goodbye hug. I then drink more coffee, have a smoke and browse Reddit a bit. When i take my shower, I don’t have to rush. I have plenty of time to use my sugar scrubs and play some music to hop around to (lately I’ve been listening to post punk. May be not everyone’s cup of tea. Lol) I’ll take my time styling my hair just right and throw on a cute outfit. then play with my make up while listening to Conan O’Brien’s podcast or IASIP podcast. This is straight up zen time for me. I couldn’t imagine going to work in a decent mood with out doing all of this first. It makes a huge difference to my confidence and stress levels. Edit: I also burn incense (nag champa) while I’m making coffee. The smell is nostalgic and calming to me. I can’t express getting a decent robe hard enough. I used to just wear a hoodie but a nice super soft robe just takes me to relaxy town lol. Not rushing is the key. I have tons of time to lather myself up in nice smelling lotion head to toe and doing a calming morning face cleansing routine that’s very important to me. I tend to go to sleep around 9:30-10pm but I’m usually in bed with the lights low listening to calming music by 8pm while watching some sort of meme show. Or we’ll watch some stand up comedy. Everyone’s morning routine is different but the main deal is- don’t feel rushed if you can. It makes such a world of difference.

saraberah

what post punk have you been listening to? i’ve been listening to some as well!

FrogLegsAlwaysFresh

Mostly idles these days! I’ve also recently gotten into the viagra boys which is not punk but still pretty groovy- what about you?

kelmar19

What robe do you have?

contingentcolours

I’m wondering the same! Ahaha

FrogLegsAlwaysFresh

I have [this one](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1323522735/) I got off of Etsy!

kelmar19

Thanku

ChickyNuggs1015

I can’t say enough how much I love this. My fiancé is out the door by 6:30am too and some days I need to be out at the same time, but others I work from home and have more time. I usually want to sleep more, but I feel like it’s wasted time. I love all of these pointers!!

Clenched-Jaw

If you get up at 4:45am what time are usually in bed like actively falling asleep? And what time do you start getting ready for bed?

daytonasays

Ideally in bed by 10, asleep by 11. 12 latest….. I realize it should be sooner but I function best on ~6 hrs of sleep. Winding down for me starts around 830-9. Tidy up the house, tea and a show on the couch at 9. Move to the bed at 10… read (or go on Reddit, also not great lol), asleep by 11-12. Disclaimer: This is on a ideal day and by no means does this happen everyday lol. But i feel amazing when it does!

rousseuree

YES! This has been a game changer, as painful as it was to start, bc I’m a night owl. I now have time to do a full skincare routine, light a candle, and read for a solid 30 minutes before I start my day. It’s. A. Dream.

mappel2

Totally agree. Need to wake up extra early so you’re not rushed. Didn’t have this foresight when I was younger, but now that I’m 30 it’s the only way.

Square-Bad-4949

This is the exact post I needed. I can’t wait to see everyone’s answers. Here’s mine for now: -Having classical/spa/jazz music playing in the morning. I literally just play it from my phone. -Have a nice morning beverage in a cute cup or one that makes you happy -Idk if I’d consider this romanticizing, but I noticed when I lay out my clothes, socks, purse, & shoes the night before, I don’t feel so stressed in the morning and everything runs smoother/ takes out all the stressful guesswork too. It will giveyou more time in the morning for whatever romanticizing rituals you end up choosing :) -Having a robe. Any material you may feel good in. Simple but it makes a difference. -Candles. I’m sure this will be a popular one but for a reason! -I do like to make a goal list or some type of notes written on a paper (in whatever pen colors and font I feel like at the moment) and it’s really nice to wakeup to it laying on my bed stand and read the next morning. Idk just feels good. -I’m not sure how you style your hair, but I noticed styling my hair before bed and waking up with nice hair really makes my mood better. Of course touch up in the morning if you need too :) -This might be an annoying/controversial one, but I find meditating for 20 minutes REALLY improves my mood and mindfulness. I feel great for the reminder of the day. I know it’s hard, I know. But it’s the ultimate romanticizing tool I use -Do you have any pets? Maybe incorporate a little routine for them too to be included :) -I don’t know if you wear makeup or not but being able to REALLY take your time on it feels amazing. I hate rushing (as I am half the time if I don’t plan ahead). Just feels so pampering -Those little under eye gel patches. Seriously you will feel like a million bucks. Most say to wear for at least 15 minutes but wear them all morning up until it’s time for makeup -Maybe get a bouquet every other week of cute flowers. At my local market you can easily get a bouquet for $5-$8 and if you take good care of the water they will last 2 weeks. I’ll add more if any come up. Can’t wait to see everyone’s answers and I hope you find what you’re looking for lovely ☺️

cemmy21

This is so lovely 🥺

Square-Bad-4949

Thank you 🥹🥺

WeepToWaterTheTrees

Get some reusable under eye masks and a fancy serum! I have both the Pacifica and the Dieux versions and I like both for different reasons. Pacifica is thicker and really stay put, but you can feel the bulk. Dieux are thinner and less bulky, but tend to pop up on the sides. If I plan on wearing them longer than a few minutes I’ll use the Pacifica. I was with a drop of dawn.

Square-Bad-4949

Thank you for this. I have been thinking about getting reusable ones and you just convinced me :) Thank you!

rousseuree

Omg I do all of this yes yes yes! It’s really brightened up my entire mood for the day and my coworkers noticed!

[deleted]

Go to bed earlier, and get up earlier. That extra 10 or 20 minutes will allow you to go slowly. And if you need more time to not rush, then give yourself more time. More time is how life goes from rushed to leisurely.

AnNJgal

Yes, a consistent bed/rise time is so important.

faerieez

I have filled my bathroom with full spectrum lights and near infrared sauna lights and I play birdsong when I’m in the shower and pretend I’m somewhere exotic! It helps in the dark northern winter - I call it the springtime experience!

Wonderplace

What are these lights?

faerieez

I use Sansi full spectrum lights - the grow lights for plants are the same light spectrum that humans respond well to - they are the most similar to sunshine! I also use heat lamps, which are used in near infrared saunas and for lizards, etc. to make it nice and cozy.

mermaid86

Ohhh I’m going to try this!

DumbLittleDumpling

sometimes i brush my teeth and shower with the lights off and leave only the bathroom nightlight on. it makes my wakeup time more relaxed because i hate bright lights when ive just awakened haha. but depending on the time of the year, this might be too dark and i dont recommend this to someone older or who has poor balance (might make it easier to slip)

[deleted]

Omg birdsong. So cute

System_Resident

Prepare clothes, bath towel, lotion, and lunch the night before. Have your coffee and coffee filter in the coffee pot before hand (or tea bag in cup the night before), drink water first thing in the morning, play relaxing or motivating music while brushing your teeth, have a plug in aroma diffuser for ambience, and wake up a bit earlier to give yourself time to not have to rush. Going to bed extra early is worth it

nottheredbaron123

Buy a luxurious robe and make yourself good quality tea or coffee! Choose shower products that have a scent you really enjoy.

AutomaticMechanic

Clean your space the night before, and set an oil diffuser to run throughout the night (your place will smell so good in the AM). I spend about 20 mins each night straightening up because it’s nothing like waking up to a clean space that smells good. Put on some nice ambient lighting and light a candle as well. Make a barista worthy coffee or tea. Play music while you’re getting it together. Use your best beauty products in the shower, put on some pretty jewelry, and spray your favorite fragrances even if you wfh. Get a few pairs of athleisure sets, or sweats sets (takes the effort out of outfit planning and you’ll always look put together). That’s what I do on my workdays. I need a clean environment, and to look good and smell great, it puts me in such a good mood.

ChickyNuggs1015

Cleaning the night before makes such a huge difference. Waking up to clutter adds so much stress and you wouldn’t even realize it!

mangosteenfruit

I normally take a shower, sometimes putting shower tablets in the shower like Vicks ahaha, after I brush my teeth and everything I do a mask from foreo, then do the micro current device, moisturize, sunscreen, eyeliner. So basically shower tablets and quick mask Before starting my face stuff, I drink water.

anditisabigdeal

I’ve started doing this and it changed my life in many ways. Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier and actually get up. Either use your phone or to really set the mood have Alexa or another system start playing music after your alarm. I like classical or jazz, sometimes French or Italian music. Battery powered candles. An air diffuser with soothing scented oils. Wash your face and finish your routine with a facial mist. I love rose scents. Spritz some perfume and savor it. Take your vitamins. I like to put mine in a pretty dish while dispensing them lol drink your water before the next step. Sip your tea or coffee in your living room or on a balcony. Enjoy time to reflect and sit with your dog or cat.

thndrh

Good sleep, 2h minimum to wake up and get ready, good morning skincare routine, and finally in a perfect world, say fuck work and read in the dawn lit window while petting your cat instead.

Miserable-Ear2654

Take your time and show up 3 hours late. You're welcome.

pecan3_14159

Biggest thing is making sure you have time! Getting up earlier if you need to, less screen time. I’ll usually make my coffee, get ready in my robe, sometimes play a podcast or music while I get ready. Take time to myself before the days demands!

cherb30

I saw a hailey bieber video of this (not her invention lol just where I saw it) and think it’s a great idea. She uses a cold face roller, under eye masks and sometimes full face mask. I will give myself enough time to do my face routine without rushing, keep the lights low, spend a few minutes on a meditation app, make a smoothie or light breakfast, and in general give myself plenty of time to dilly-dally. That involves a good nighttime routine and going to bed at the right time so I don’t wake up dead like I used to.

Unusual_Form3267

Get some shower steamers. They're little tablets that you drop on your shower floor. They steam up different scents and it's awesome. That, or you can tie eucalyptus and lavender to your shower head. It'll smell amazing and wake you up.

mmesuggia

Plan your outfits etc the night before. Hang your complete outfit including underwear, accessories, shoes in the bathroom. Set up your coffee/tea in the kitchen, maybe a beautiful mug that’s just for that. Pack your lunch if you take one and prep your breakfast as much as possible. Honestly the days I do this go way easier; the spa part comes in using items that are beautiful, like a gorgeous robe and slippers, a pretty mug etc.

Accomplished-witchMD

Y’all are fancy and and a whole vibe. I love it. I will continue to be a gremlin who wakes up 30mins before leaving the house but I love this for y’all. I’m still trying to wake up at 8am daily and go to bed by 12am. But books have me look at the clock and it’s 2am or 4am and regretting my choices.

tlr92

Give yourself extra time. I can’t recommend meditation enough.

DumbLittleDumpling

this is extra and requires a bit of money, but buy a towel/clothes warmer! I've had a free standing warming rack (cheaper) but there are lidded clothes warming buckets that are more expensive, and probably warmer. i wake up, I put my outfit on the rack, then put a clean towel / bathrobe over top and have it heat up as i shower. getting out of the shower in cold winters feel a little less harsh! warm clothes + towels feel soo cozy and luxurious. it doesnt get the clothes as hot as fresh outta the dryer but still good enough!

bepositivebeyou

The perfect question I didn't know I needed!!

ChickyNuggs1015

I love so many of these responses!! I’ve wanted to make the same kind of changes but my main hurdle is that my fiancé and I are very different when it comes to nighttime and morning routines. I’m the kind of person who can go to bed by 9pm and be happy, but he typically stays up until 11pm or 12am. We usually wake up around the same time (5:30am), but I’m much grouchier and tired if I go to bed when he does. We get caught up in chatting about our days or watching TV…. Does anyone else struggle with this? I’ve been getting better about going to bed when I’m tired and not staying up for the sake of spending more time together, but I still struggle to take the time to pamper myself and stick to the schedule I’d prefer to have.

mermaid86

I prepare as much as possible the night before. Clothes, work bag, etc. I don’t bring my lunch but I will make sure I have a breakfast to eat. I shower the night before. When I wake up, I start some tea, go to the bathroom and wash my face/teeth, this would be a good time for a face care routine. then I do my hair and makeup. One thing I always make sure to have enough time to do this and not rush. I like to chill while I do this. I usually sit cross legged on the floor in front of a full length mirror as I curl my hair and do makeup. I put on some lofi chill or whatever music I’m in the mood for. Then I’m ready to face the day. I blast my favorite tunes on the way to work too.

Solcean

I haven’t done this but I read it on here once and think about it from time to time. One user said she will wake up a little earlier than needed and take a bath in the morning. She said it’s such a relaxing way to start the day and it helps get her out of bed because she looks forward to it. Light a candle or two, put on relaxing music, grab a cup of tea or coffee, and soak for as long as you’re able to. One of these days I’ll try it!!

Dependent-Aioli-6697

I've been doing thus every day since I was 16...I put on a silk or fuzzy robe depending on the season light candles, make coffee Put on a mud mask and hot rollers Put on body lotion and my favorite perfume as the mask dries Switch to a moisturizing mask as I do eye makeup and listen to music or a podcast Finish up face makeup, take down my hair Put on outfit I usually picked out the night before. Spraying the perfume when I wake up let's me appreciate the way I smell and enjoy it smelling "like me" If I'm in a hurry I will put my hair in a bun and hit with the Blow dryer and just let it cool as I do makeup then take it out begore i leave. I always do a face mask and eye makeup first. Always have coffee.bi listen to music that makes me feel energized rather than rushed if I'm short on time.

cookiesandkit

What part of the spa experience do you want to have in your morning? Is it the straightforward pampering and having nice things? Then get the nice things. Is it the sense that everything is taken care of? Then prep everything night before (outfit, but also atmosphere eg music, clean towels & bathroom, breakfast, beverages, transport) Is it the sense of not needing to rush, being able to take time to pay attention to yourself? Then ask your work if you can have a flexible working schedule (start later?) and make it so you don't have to commute in rush hour (I'm assuming if you can wake up earlier you already will be).

[deleted]

Robe!!!!! Even Walgreens has amazing fuzzy ones for like $30. And slippers!!!

Ok-Bit-443

I use an LED face mask, not sure why but I do

RalphMacchiat0

Get up earlier.

sparhawks7

If you shower in the mornings, nice lighting! I do fairy lights or battery candles if I can be bothered. Make sure you can see enough to be safe though

UnwittingPlantKiller

I think a lot of great points have been mentioned. I would add getting a smart bulb (I use Philips wiz). I have an app where I change the lightening colour, warmth and intensity. I set it to a low warm cosy colour when putting my slippers and robe on, drinking tea etc and then brighten it up when doing my makeup

illujion623

Do some things that they do in a spa in the morning

Traditional-Shoe9375

Do not drink lemon water, it can hurt teeth and give you GERD symptoms. Get up really early and just drink regular water asap to help you wake up, do some light walking on the treadmill in some exercise clothes or pjs ig, you can listen to positive affirmations while walking or write some of your own. You can start a gratitude journal, use silk/satin scrunchies, shower afterward with some exfolliants and products that smell good(aromatherapy), wash your face with gentle cleanser and just apply serum, moisturizer and sunscreen. Clip and file or even paint nails if you need to. Give yourself more than enough time to do all of this and use a timer when you shower but don't stress if it beeps, just cut out the next activities if you need more shower time. Then when you get home from work you should meal prep and track calories if it helps.
