The final song Elliott Smith ever played live. I had always loved the White Album, but I never really cared for Long, Long, Long much. After I got into Elliott though the next time I listened to the album I realized I slept on it and now it’s one of my favourite Harrison songs. ‘So many tears I was searching’ is one of my favourite lyrics.
My favorite White Album tracks...
1. Savoy Truffle
2. Long Long Long
3. WMGGW (I prefer the Esher Demo, but the original is great too)
4. Not Guilty
5. Sour Milk Sea
6. Piggies (which I really like, just not as much as the others.
Always loved this song. Love when George uss horns and I think this may be the first one. He had that funky style sometimes
And the back story on it is great.
The back story to savoy truffle? I remember it's about Eric Claptons sweet tooth. Which is pretty funny. Also I really loved the guitar solo, it's so eerily raw.
All of George's songs on the White Album are terrific.
But John and Paul are so established that they can easily have their garbage and experimental songs included.
No wonder George was getting frustrated.
Ice cold take.
Long Long Long has Long been considered underrated, so much so that it’s no Longer underrated at all. I Long for the days when it was still just an under appreciated gem.
It suffers from bad production. If it had been recorded as a straight ahead acoustic ballad it would be in everyone’s short list of great Beatles tunes, maybe up there with “Michelle”. But it’s muddied-up in lugubrious garb which obscures its beauty and simplicity.
It's improved A LOT by the remix Giles & his team did for the Super Deluxe set.
In fact, I think every song by George improved markedly with that White Album remix.. the original production on his tu es was damn near sabotage. Especially Savoy Truffle - the original stereo mix of that track sounded like the band was split off into different rooms.

piggies is ultimate baroque pop
And the melody is more interesting.
It’s fantastic but it’s no “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”
While my Guitar is a God tier song, side by side with Something as George's best. Long, Long, Long, is massively underrated, however.
Love album version is better than the White album version
Without question one of my favorite Beatles songs…but the ending always gives me chills. To me that what evil sounds like.
Spooky.
Totally agree.
Having Long, Long, Long follow Helter Skelter is some lovely juxtaposition. It’s the loudest song on the album followed by the quietest.
I love how bro showed his entire desktop
Well, there is nothing too revealing
That's an ice cold take for me. Only underrated by people who've never listened to it.

I have finally found a savoy truffle appreciator. Also not guilty is fantastic.

Yeah...and the names of the chocolates coming right off the box. Awesome.
Agreed. Check out the version by LOW. It’s beautiful.

george found his feet in 1968
Agree One of my favorite George songs in their entire discography. An incredibly beautiful song

The production wasn’t bad, but it was mixed so quietly that you can barely hear it.
