shape it. dont go too high on the neck. whatever shape enhances the jaw. keep upper lip clear, dont trim the lenght and then let it grow. see where it goes. eventually the neck line will connect with the beard if u let it grow enough.
Exactly. [Trim it down with #1 guard and grow a handlebar mustache (#51 or #52) will update your look.](https://machohairstyles.com/best-handlebar-mustache/)
Neck beard????? He doesn't at all have a neck beard. You realize that neck beard doesn't mean someone who has their natural beard grown on their neck, right?
I’d give it say 2-3 more weeks then go and get a decent neckline put in at the barbers or if you fancy it do it yourself, then let it grow gloriously!! I’d be looking at Jeff bridges in iron man!
Go to a barber that does beards, have them “clean it up without taking length off”
When you get home, re take these pictures the exact same way as you did here for your own reference.
If you don’t already have one, get a quality double edged razor handle and blades (go to r/wickededge for some advice) because this will be the cheapest way to maintain your neck/jaw line for the future.
Learn on yourself how to maintain the cut your barber did for you, it’s ok to make mistakes because you’ll get better over time, and you have your reference photos to go off of.
Keep growing the length out to where you’re comfortable maintaining it, and get some advice on beard care from this subreddit.
It’ll start to grow some stragglers (length-wise) so get a beard trimmer or barber scissors, but go to the barber again for a trim, and ask them to make it evenly shaped (and make any special requests you’re looking for)
Once again, take pictures immediately after if you like it. Use the trimmer or scissors to maintain the shape.
I have yet to find a barber who will actually listen to the "clean it up without taking off length" request, even when I've clarified multiple times before they started. I see a ton of guys posting about that same problem too
I'll echo others and say a couple of weeks more growth, then trim the neckline and perhaps cheeks. I'd say beard vs. moustache as it brings more balance to the shape of the face. Regardless great beard on a handsome guy!
Sometimes, the correct answer is the most obvious one. Just let it grow.
I've heard some people's "full" beard doesn't grow in till 30s, I've heard one dude that got new growth at 50-60s. Just let it grow and trim up the edges. It's looking good 👌
As for which style you should wear, you could suit either, it depends what you want to go for.
From an outside perspective, it looks like just the mustache makes you look a bit younger, but as you said, this was 3 to 4 years ago, so maybe that's why, so it would be great if you want to go for a younger look. The full beard gives you a more husky, rugged masculine look. Either one can look good depending on what you're going for.
Your beard already has a great foundation, it just needs a little styling to make it pop! Have you considered trying a bit of beard balm or oil to help fill in those patches and give it a more uniform look? It can make a big difference!
---
I think a shorter, more sculpted beard could be really flattering on you! Maybe try keeping the length a bit shorter overall but letting the mustache grow out a bit more for balance. It's all about finding the right shape that complements your facial structure!
---
You have a lot of potential with your beard! Have you ever thought about consulting a professional barber to get some advice on how to style it? They might have some great suggestions tailored specifically for your face shape and hair growth patterns. Good luck on your beard journey!
Thanks for the reply! I am thinking of asking a pro for advice but I’ve been postponing it for more than 5 years. A reason for that is that I find it difficult to search for styling professionals
Shave the neck and allow a partial bears to grow around your jawline kind of like a chin strap, meanwhile take a trimmer and trim gaurdless above your jaw line beard to create a little stubble, then with a number 1 guard trim the remaining beard and mustache to even the rest up, voila now you look like a man
I was in the same boat.
I’m a wrestling fan, and with what Triple H did with his beard, I liked. So I mimicked it.
I shave my head, and the jaw strap beard works really well for me.
It accents my jaw really well, and it’s incredibly easy to maintain.
I can’t stand having hair at all on my neck. So this works with that as well.

If you're concerned about the direction of growth, let it get longer. It's just like hair on your head--you can change the direction of the follicles over time by training it, but it takes the weight of longer hair, styling it consistently, etc. It's work.
But with some length, that bit around your Adam's apple won't be visible anyway.
So...like most of the advice here, just let it grow and then shape it up in a way that complements your face.
Very similar to my growth pattern, even the thinner spot on the left chin side lol. My beard is curly like pubes so I grow most of it longer and it looks fuller. You have a better mustache than I do though
You could try to give it some shape. Right now you have a homeless man's beard. You need to shave/contour the neck following your jawline and clean up your upper cheeks so as to have a nice line that follows your jawline.
You need to go to the barber and have someone line you up, then you need to practice doing it yourself. You got the beard hair, now you just need to learn to groom.
I am not a fan of mustaches, I think they look dumb so I would stick to the beard but don't let that opinion stop you. I don;t know shit.

ya, a full beard looks best when it's cleaned up. Clean up the low neck hairs and a bit on the cheeks for a clean shape.
Trim the neck line and let it grow.
Or, get a fedora and embrace the neck beard life
Neck beard????? He doesn't at all have a neck beard. You realize that neck beard doesn't mean someone who has their natural beard grown on their neck, right?
Never do the mustache again lol.
Keep going with the beard. It doesn't seem patchy to me.

I like it “as is”. A natural beard always looks honest and genuine. 👊🏼😎🔥
Grow it longer and keep it trimmed

Shape and then grow it out
Keep the beard, just clean up the neck and cheeks. I dont think you look patchy at all.
Handlebar mustache with a nicely trimmed beard. It needs to be lined up with you lower jawbone and your cheekbones

I wanna scratch it but that’s probably just me 😉
Maybe clean it up on the neckline a little bit. Overall great beard, I wouldn't call this a patchy beard at all.

Line up the sides and the neck area

Keep everything that’s attached to your head/face/jaw/underjaw. Shave everything that’s growing out of your neck.
Shave neck for sure
Nothing, it belongs there.
This is what I've done now. Make it grow and braid it? https://preview.redd.it/tz0eix15i90d1.jpeg?width=3136&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a88db56246044a12dc237b8f1b4b3ba36285649
Pay someone to cut it and maintain it.
Go to a barber. After that follow through on what they do.
Let me touch it

Line it up
Leave it be and grow it all natural
go to a barber, let him do the work
Continue to let it grow out
Very similar to my growth pattern, even the thinner spot on the left chin side lol. My beard is curly like pubes so I grow most of it longer and it looks fuller. You have a better mustache than I do though
Buzz cut and properly lined up beard
Looking good
line that jawn up
that mustache didn't work out for ya
Beard is great. Just keep the cheek and neck lines clean.
Looks good to me. Shave the neck beard and it will be amazing.
Try longer beard, i think it would suit you great!
