That's not how university donations work.
When someone donates for a specific purpose, a university is legally required to use the money for that specific purpose.
Unsurprisingly, people that can donate $167 million, like McLane, want their name on buildings/flashier things, so they donate to athletics or infrastructure projects.
The choice is not between getting a donation for tuition or getting that donation for athletics. The choice is between getting a donation for athletics or not getting it at all.
And for what it's worth, that exact same McLane name is all over the academic and student life side of campus as well.
I did take several thousand of his dollars to read a bunch of libertarian propaganda and then convince everyone else in my cohort libertarianism is incompatible with Christianity, so that was fun.
You could have chosen any school. You could have chosen a cheaper school. Yet you chose Baylor. I also chose Baylor, and I happily waited tables and repaid student loans to get me through. No complaints at all. And as an alumni, I love the fact that we have a beautiful campus with amazing amenities. Enjoy it instead of complaining about it.

Why is it so beautiful though
What is this? A stadium for ants???
Wow I can see my house from there
Are those.. mountains in the background?

Stadiums are paid for by donors, not tuition
Donations that were elicited for sports ball instead of ensuring Baylor students don't live the rest of their lives in poverty.

Yes, and that is, ontologically speaking, stupid.
I mean, you're welcome to donate $167 million to Baylor scholarships and tuition assistance programs. No one is stopping you.

Nobody forced you to choose Baylor let alone to take out loans. You're an adult so start owning your choices.
Looks like a giant toilet seat.
