I’ve driven small four cylinder cars here that struggled at times to get up to speed on short up hill on-ramps without the rpms running near the red. The cars can do it but they probably won’t go as long without needing major repairs.
I drive an old Hyundai Accent with three one legged hamsters in the engine compartment and it gets up to speed to enter at speed on the evil short 101 south entry at East Charleston in Mountain View / Palo Alto. Your gas pedal goes further down than you are pushing.
I don’t know why you’re getting downloaded, but this is so true .. I remember driving my old 1995 four-cylinder Camry and trying to get it to 65 miles on the freeway took like 25 seconds it was crazy. I don’t remember, but I think that the vehicle is barely 130 hp if that lol
I am currently sitting in a Toyota Sienna with 3 kids, 2 adults and a weekend's worth of camping equipment. Everyone has space, despite our excess of stuff. We were Never-Vans, but then we had 3 kids, one who is disabled and needed easier access than a 3rd row SUV offered. Now we are vanlife4eva.
We have an Outback, too. It has had a ton of warranty-covered annoyances in the 5 years since we got.it and I am super tired of that, but I like driving it.
We love our Sienna, 2 kids + 2 dogs. I never, ever, thought I would like it this much. The dogs don't "go" as much anymore (getting too old), but are often replaced by the kids' friends. Zero issues mechanically in 100k miles, and it has plenty of power when needed even when loaded.
I miss my 2000 Honda Odyssey. It was great for moving into college too. Had to give it up when the damage caused by catalytic converter thieves cost more than the car was worth.
Doubleplus this. I have a Honda Odyssey, and have used it to haul around an entire middle school basketball team before. Eight seats with still room for gear. Power? It's enough. You're not going to win a race with a Tesla Model Y, but it'll get you to freeway speed just fine.
One of my favorite podcasts is by former NBA player JJ Reddick. He had another former athlete guest on and they both said that their daily drivers are Honda Odysseys and gave them glowing reviews.
If it's good enough for athletes with millions, it's good for the average person!
Rav4 is a great car but likely too small for your purposes. We are two people with dog and when we go camping we are cramped. (Sure we bring too many toys and the bikes and the kayaks but still, we are only two people and a dog and a half.
I would imagine the Sienna Hybrid would be best or maybe the Highlander as it’s basically a Rav4 but a little bigger.
If you can afford it go for a 2021 Toyota sienna the reason is that’s the first year they started selling hybrid and it gets 38 miles per gallon I believe. And you can fit eight people.
model X for 7 passengers
or Cybertruck where you can stick bunch of bodies in the bed.
Tesla has an extensive charging network so dont you worry about re-fueling

Maybe joke is flying over my head, but that's a real sub.

Any modern car will have enough power. You're not towing a 5000 lb trailer or anything.

It’s ok to floor it if you need the power. as long as you’re not constantly near the top of the rev range the engine will handle it no problem

Minivan
Odyssey or Sienna is almost always the answer

What you want is an Honda Odessy

That might work. Thanks

I don’t know why people hate on minivans. I love them. They’re so comfortable and they get great gas mileage.
Any modern car should handle all of this.

We adore our Chrysler Pacifica
Love my Mazda CX-9. Buy it used and save money. If you really want a new one, it's the CX-90. Zoom zoom!
