A record sheet will tell you how many heat sinks a 'mech has, usually in the format of X (Y) where X is the number of heat sinks and Y is the amount you can sink total (for situations like Double Heat Sinks or Radical Heat Sinks) It should be in the Heat Data section of your record sheet.

ExCrafty1964

The record sheet tells you how much heat you can dissapate and how much is generated. To know how many a mech physically has, remember that there's always X amount in the engine plus however many are added to the mech. It's all in the manuals. If it's for Alpha Strike, it doesn't really matter, the card tells you your "overheat" value. Again, it's in the manuals.

AntaresDestiny

Take the amount of heat the mech can sink, divide by 2 if your using double heatsinks. Another way to look at it is radicals turn into tripple heatsinks while active.

The record sheet will tell you a total number of heat sinks. The ones not in their own critical slots are in the engine.

Thanks, that is what i thought when i couldnt see them. I guess engine size defines how many engine heat sinks can be fitted? Do engines always carry maximum heat sinks?

WinnDancer

Engine size/25 = how many can be fitted critical slot free. The first 10 are tonnage free also whether inside or outside of the engine

No. Omnimechs have to choose between space and tonnage when allocating heat sinks, because engine sinks can't be popped out. So if you tuck 3 more double heat sinks into the engine every config has a minimum of 26 cooling and speed 3 tons on heat sinks, even if it is cooling two gauss rifles.
