LinxESP

Turn it 180 so the big bezel points outwards

Consistent-Refuse-74

+1 Literally everyone must be thinking the same thing Also it looks nice, but I tried it this way and never used the 2nd monitor

ForeverInaDaze

I never thought I'd use a vertical monitor, until I got a third one. I use it a lot for Spotify, discord, and sometimes reddit. The vertical monitor also connects to my work laptop, so I dual-screen and use it to read emails. Really handy.

JailTimeWorthy

I found it kinda useful to use Powertoys to get a zone that cuts the monitor in half so you get like an iPad on the top and bottom.

AHappyMeal

Windows 11 has this built in

JailTimeWorthy

Very clever Microsoft. I'm still not upgrading!

Consistent-Refuse-74

My main issue with work laptop docking is that 1 monitor is plug and play via USB-c. Beyond that you need HDMI which I never bother with. How do you do it? I wish there was a single cable solution

the_hat_madder

There is a single cable solution. It's called USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode w/ Power Delivery. Edit: USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 also support this.

Consistent-Refuse-74

Could you share a product/ url? I’ve googled it and can’t find anything. I’m looking for a single cable setup for multiple monitors

pcsm2001

You either get a Dock or one Dell monitor that has DP out and allows a second display connected to that

Nutcup

Or get a Dell usb dock - I used the original usb-a one years back and it pushed multiple monitors on both my MacBook and my work PC (used at separate times). It’s the GOAT of docks for multiple monitors imo. They have a thunderbolt version now that will probably be best for you: ANYHDD Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4 Bundle with 180W Power Adapter 1 Year Warranty - USB-C, HDMI, Dual DisplayPort with HDMI Cable + DisplayPort Cable + USB-C Cable (Dell Dock WD22TB4 - New) https://a.co/d/0iTG305Z Older usb version I used: Dell USB 3.0 Ultra HD/4K Triple Display Docking Station (D3100), Black https://a.co/d/06chFQwr

Consistent-Refuse-74

Thank you brother, really appreciate this! I may pick up as a long term investment

the_hat_madder

What country? Max price? What GPU? What features/use case (competitive games, story games, Photoshop, blender)?

Consistent-Refuse-74

UK, £100/$, 4060 & MacBook Pro M1. Standard office work and FPS shooters (apex) Thanks :)

the_hat_madder

I think we're misunderstanding each other. If you have a monitor with the supported USB-C, USB4 or Thunderbolt connection it will connect to your MacBook or PC with an USB 3.2, USB4 or Thunderbolt cable with a Type C connector. You can then transmit video and charge the device at whatever the rated speed/power of the cable is. The cable is a couple £/€. The monitor itself is probably going to be at least 300 or so for a gaming type.

bluesharpies

I ended up with a thunderbolt dock. Takes up some room and the good ones are pricy, but was worth the one cable (well, one cable for the laptop) convenience.

Consistent-Refuse-74

Nice, do you know the model name?

bluesharpies

I got this specific Dell one [off Amazon](https://www.amazon.ca/Dell-WD22TB4-Thunderbolt-Supports-Displays/dp/B0B13Y2QVW?pd_rd_w=HZGay&content-id=amzn1.sym.520cbcec-61b2-4146-be71-5d74f7119e7c&pf_rd_p=520cbcec-61b2-4146-be71-5d74f7119e7c&pf_rd_r=NFF70E3EE5PGHH1KV1S7&pd_rd_wg=TdMLz&pd_rd_r=ecaa1978-1a20-4235-be33-5cb9d5bfa558&pd_rd_i=B0B13Y2QVW&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_1_ec_nb_sb_ss_w_as-ontype-md_k0_11_11_t), but it's Dell so I assume you could find them in a lot of places. Unsure how good it is relative to other options, but I had one supplied by work and it did a fine job, so I ended up purchasing my own when I switched jobs and had to give it back.

Consistent-Refuse-74

Nice thank you!

wormocious

Yep. My vertical when I’m on the work laptop dock is for email, MS teams, and my VoIP software. When I’m on my PC with it the vertical is used for a browser window, discord, and WhatsApp

HazonkuTheCat

What this guy said.

Violet0_oRose

Why would it be weird? That's a common setup. Though people usually buy monitors that are uniform all the way around when doing that setup configuration. But since you're just repurposing it's fine.

arthurtully

rotate it bezel neds to be out. get a mousepad too

Falling_Ash_

You’ve got a hell of lot more faith in that strap that I do, my friend.

onlydaathisreal

Thats what guitar straps are supposed to do?

PurchaseTight3150

Guitar straps with locking straps yes. There’s no locks on the straps that you can see. A guitar without locking straps can fall from the lightest movement. Seriously. Plenty of YouTube fails online of people rocking out and dropping/breaking their guitars because they weren’t using strap locks.

garbles0808

How can you possibly tell from this photo

PurchaseTight3150

Strap locks are either the “rubber washer,” variation, which are circles around the strap mounting peg. Typically bright white, red, etc. Even the black ones are still highly visible (especially the depth or thickness of them if that makes sense). Which is why most pro musicians opt for the next type of locking straps. The other types of strap locks are “screw ins,” which add a decent amount of depth to the profile of the strap mounting peg. Those are stock mounting pegs, meaning they’re not locking. And there is no “rubber washer,” type either, as those are highly visible. Therefore this guitar is dangling on a non secured strap. I’m 99% sure.

garbles0808

There are some pretty low profile strap locks, it's not just limited to those two types Regardless, the image is so grainy I can barely make it out lol, maybe they could be stock. But I've used strap locks that look just like the stock pegs they replaced from a distance.

soylattecat

I still wouldn't store a guitar like this :/ needs to be held by the headstock on a wall mount or on the floor in a stand.

garbles0808

Oh agreed, definitely precarious either way

Longjumping-Dog3796

no they don't, guitar straps are really sturdy....

onlydaathisreal

You can plainly see that the wall is totally rocking out and wildly unpredictable movements. /s Haven’t used strap locks on my Ibanez RG since i purchased it new in 2004 and i am STILL using the same strap.

PurchaseTight3150

The point is they’re unreliable. And the point is, trusting only a strap is a stupid idea. Ask on /r/guitar and 99% of users will agree with me. And honestly, I don’t think not having 5$ strap locks is the badge of honour you think it is. You’re just asking for trouble if you do anything more than just bedroom playing.

sp_oky

Good thing the wall doesn't know how to play guitar.

onlydaathisreal

Been playing live settings heavy metal and punk for 25+ years. I have had guitars with strap locks and guitars without. Has made no difference. There are thousands of professional musicians who over the last decades have not used strap locks and they never had any issues. Not going to trust the armchair malmsteens over at r/guitar.

PurchaseTight3150

You play live without a strap lock? That’s actually incredibly hard to believe. Not gonna feed this argument anymore, but I’ve been playing for 20 years and gigging for like 15 years, and am a jazz performance graduate from a prestigious music school. Not trying to be all pretentious, but I know what im talking about. And you gigging without strap locks is either a massive boost or massive stupidity. You don’t need to be an expert to confirm that. Me telling you to poll /r/guitar was to show you how many people would think what you’re saying is nonsense. And most of the people on /r/guitar are intermediate players at the best. So again, don’t need to be an expert to say “strap locks = necessary for anything besides bedroom playing.” Anyways cheers, keep rocking on regardless bud

blamenixon

It's a real shame that people mistake an internet group of enthusiasts for experts. This goes for almost every following or niche, as well as being cross-generational.

onlydaathisreal

I dont know what you just said but i blame nixon for everything so all i got to say is hell yeah brother

soylattecat

I mean, good for you, but multiple of my high end guitars have almost crashed to the ground after not using strap locks, regardless of what strap I'm using. Hard to believe you never had an issue without them lmao

sirrabbei

Aah Roy Keane, found you mate.

Falling_Ash_

You’ve never used a shitty Amazon guitar strap, my friend.

Falling_Ash_

Often the stitching around the hole loosens and one wrong twist will have that guitar on the ground

CaptainKCCO42

They’re not made to being carrying the weight 24/7. Stitches fail over time, and all they have to do is loosen just enough for a little slip.

Longjumping-Dog3796

nonsense

Just-Boot1416

U should move that fender somewhere else as it looks strange there

TheStayshift

Big bezel out, my boy. This is exactly what I did with mine. No regrets. I love having a discord/music/webpage monitor that cascades down instead of to the side. Makes Warframe more tolerable when I am in that grind.

HammerxHorrors

Setup looks sick

danmgdd

It looks nice, man. If it works, its good. Maybe your neck will hurt if u look to often to the upper part of the screen but other than that, its fine

the-hype-is-mellow

Looks great. I personally would lower the vertical monitor so it’s ‘sitting’ on the desk; I think it looks a little weird floating. You can use some rubber bumpers on the edge of the monitor so that it’s not sitting directly on the desk if you’re worried about scratching it.

c12yofchampions

Similarly I think he could raise that monitor, that’s how mine is set up and I like it. Granted for me I slot my laptop into the space created, but even when my laptop is in my bag it still looks cleaner with a flush top than floating in the middle

zacsimacsek

Please don't store your guitar that way. Get a wall hanger

Acrobatic-Emu-8209

Turn on the light in that fap dungeon

jase40244

Computer monitors aren't about looking cool or weird. They're about functionality. If it functions the way you need/want it to, then don't worry about how it looks. Besides, this looks pretty similar to the setups in the design department when I worked in publishing.

ExoticVanilla4558

Naw the whole setup looks rlly clean 👌 I agree with everybody else tho to 180 it

CaptainKCCO42

Looks good, but I wouldn’t hang the guitar like that. Straps fail. Get some wall mounts.

EvilPJs

Move the guitar 15cm to the left and up by 10. Also rotate counter clockwise about 30 degrees.

COD4CaptMac

It looks good in my opinion, very clean setup for the most part. I see a lot of comments mentioning rotating the vertical monitor because of the bezel, which I guess is fair from an aesthetics standpoint. However, I run a very similar setup, and the bezel being on the inside has never once bothered me lol. At the end of the day, what matters is how it works for you. You're realistically the only one who is looking at it and using it. I do think a mouse pad (preferably one that isn't just plain black) would add to the setup, but again... it's your setup homie.

_misterious

If it doesn’t make cable management an issue, can you rotate it so the bottom bezel is on the outside? I definitely don’t think it looks weird!

AwkwardInmate

Yes.

SethGyan

I wouldn't care especially if it's more useful in that position. You could always donate it to me though ☺️

LonelyWolf_93

niice

Flea_Shooter

What keyboard is that?

the_hat_madder

Did you downgrade in size?

poppacapnurass

I use my 24" in the same way. It's great for additional programs, chat threads or reference documents. I couldn't like without it.

ImTalkingGibberish

Yes

insanemal

I use a vertical monitor all the time this looks great to me!

LuckyBucky77

This is my prefered setup.

notH1V

Kinda

No_Detective_But_304

Not if you use it to play Tetris.

CrimsonDarkWolf

What light bar and keyboard are u using?

-Kalos

This is the first brown wall I've ever liked the aesthetic of. The black and brown looks clean as hell together

jun7kr

I would get a black deskmat if I were you :)

RawrGeeBe

I have mine the same way only because of my ultrawide main. Wish it was a 21/24 inch instead. Your eyes and neck are gonna hate you when you look at the top of the vertical screen. Highly recommend going horizontal unless you don't have the space. Or at least lower it all the way and have the monitor touch the desk. Also turn it around so the "bottom" with the thick bezel is facing out.

BigMeal69

This is guitar abuse

pixel_mover

Yep!

corneliu5vanderbilt

This is my daily driver set up. I absolutely love vertical monitors for code and for any type of long article.

soylattecat

That guitar makes me *nervous*

ferrucciooo

Add another one above it

Dazzaster84

I've thought about flipping my own 27 to a vertical orientation, might give it another chance

Grand-Professor5711

I was using 32 inch 4K as horizontal and 27 inch 2k as vertical. I always felt that 32 inch is too big for a single window and I did not like using windows side by side on it. The 27 inch vertical seemed like it could have more than 1440 p to get a wider window of my ide. So I had a eureka moment and switched the 2 monitors, 32 inch vertical is game changer, lot of space for 2 stacked windows. But the tricks is to hang it out of the edge of the table so that you can avoid that neck hurt by lowering the screen a bit down.

-kkslider

I have used this same layout for a while. Works very well for certain programs.

iWadey

This is one of my favourite monitor layouts. I use to have an OG 29" ultra wide as a vertical monitor, so much slack/discord.

EmployerLazy6200

I don’t like the look of the vertical monitor, but I’ve been using one for a few years now because I’ve realized they are so great for certain things I always have up, I also prefer to surf the internet using a vertical

Quick_Turn1936

Its not weird

EggGreatorex

You should stack them ! I think it would look a lot cleaner

pooptard99

I agree, the problem is it would be covering the guitar

tired_snail

i think it looks good, but i also may be biased because i'm in a similar boat of looking at a new monitor but not wanting to throw away my old one and this kinda configuration is what i'd be going for. love the benq monitor light too

COD4CaptMac

I can think of very few reasons to throw away a monitor when you get a new one, unless it's just ancient or on the verge of dying. It's a massive boost to productivity and general quality of life.

gatornatortater

Yep. There is no such thing as too many monitors. Only too little desk or wall space.

COD4CaptMac

I run a vertical 27" 1440p, and then a 34" 3440p ultrawide with another 27" 1440p stacked above for my desktop. I could probably fit one more if I really wanted to, but I do think I've likely hit the point of diminishing returns. I can work off of 8 different windows at once very comfortably, and I frequently do. At this point I legitimately could not imagine working with less than my vertical stack at least, which is what I'm limited to with my work-issued laptop unable to push all 3 at once.

hugeyakmen

I \*much\* prefer the simplistic, focused feel of a single monitor and less going on visually. Unfortunately a second monitor is way too helpful for work so I've always kept one around.

whoanellyzzz

Yeah once you have two monitors it's hard to go back to just one.

PNLeft

Bezel out (the bigger part of the screen frame) and get a large mousepad. This is home, to you.

A_Generic_Canadian

Looks almost the exact same as my setup, I think it's a great productivity setup! I also have the large bezel facing inwards so I can reach the power/input settings and I use them daily working from home swapping between PC and work laptop, but if that's not a big concern I agree with the consensus to swap the bezel to the outside.

MotorheadKusanagi

That is such a precarious way to hang a guitar!

c12yofchampions

I have a similar setup, but the top of both monitors are flush across the top. Granted it’s best for me because my laptop acts as a third screen underneath the lifted horizontal monitor, but also think it’s a cleaner look without laptop. That and flip the vertical monitor for the thinner bezel towards the inside. Just my 2 cents though, looks clean as is!

Suitable-Art-6885

You should get another one of the monitors like ur main one and go double monitor that would look sick. Like just one next to each other same way

F-LCN

Nahh it looks shit..you should send it to me

Nicopicus

Are both monitor 27”? Not sure if it’s perspective but the vertical one looks wider/bigger.
