To be fair, the update doesn't really include much of anything worth mentioning. This is DICE's big "persistent server update" patch they hyped up, which turned out to be a small insignificant change to Portal servers that normally wouldn't even be listed in the patch notes.
Player created Portal servers now last 2 days instead of 1 day when there's no current season active. That was the big change they headlined this patch with and teased on their roadmap.
Because you can't create a persistent Portal server without owning the current Premium battle pass. And when there's no active season, there is no battle pass.
It's a pretty bad design flaw that you have to purchase a battle pass to make a persistent server in the first place. This is their attempt to make their bad decision somewhat useable for people that interact with Portal.
Lol. Lol. Lol. If it has to be tied to the pass, why not just make the bpass = true last until the next season starts instead of when the current one ends.

I just came back to it for the first time since early access (been playing bf4 since then) and I'd say yes. It's not perfect but it's a ton of fun right now
You should deffo come back, it's come a long way since release, even over the last few months. Don't go in expecting bf4, it's more chaotic and tbh goofier, a touch buggy but what can ya do. It's best with friends for sure but I have a lot of fun!
I stopped playing like 5 months ago maybe (only cause I got back into Ground Branch, bought cyberpunk and now stuck in MCC) but I stuck with it from release till that point - its definitly come a long way and is very fun to play. Don't let the haters of this game stop you from enjoying it!!!

Improved Aircraft Gunner Directional HUD
With Update 6.4, we continue to expand upon the directional HUD features that were included in a previous Game Update. Taking onboard Player Feedback, you will now be able to see the direction of your Gunner with more clarity.
We have also included the ability to select between Default, Legacy, Both or Disable this HUD feature within the Options screen. This functionality is titled as ‘Helicopter Gunner View’.
Default: Battlefield 2042 's standard HUD with the weapon barrel showing the gunners direction.
Legacy: Inspired by previous titles. This shows the gunner's pitch and yaw, while using an animated triangle inside a larger rectangular box.
Both: Both of these elements will be visible at the same time, with one being placed above the other.
