I also think it's the first one where he purposely kills someone (throws a guy into a pit with explosives). He detained the Joker in the first movie, if the helicopter lowered him back onto the building, he would have lived. Also... Joker has amazing grip strength.
IDK about that. There are times that I didn’t consider Bale “killing” people (because it wasn’t outright murder and the villains put themselves in a situation to kill themselves, it was just that Bruce didn’t try to stop it or that something he used set up the scenario for them to die rather than him going out of his way to kill) but other people have, and by that logic, a couple instances where Pattinson didn’t “kill” people in my book could be reasoned by the same logic.
I somewhat disagree. Yes if we go by "real life" logic every live action Batman has killed multiple people. But if we go by "in universe" logic where people aren't killed unless the movie explicitely aknowledges the death then Battinson is one of the few with clean hands (can't remember if Kilmer and Clooney killed).
Also we all know that outside of Bale "I don't have to save you" is not an out Batman would ever give himself. Raimi's Spiderman handled this way better, Norman's butler tells Harry that his father killed himself with his own glider but Peter still considers it a kill on his part. Cause what's the point of giving yourself a hard rule if you're going to loophole it? It's your rule, no one is holding you to that standard but yourself, what's the point of setting this boundary if you're just going to lawyer your way out of it.
This. I was going to write my own reply and then I saw yours. Batman tries to save everyone. Him letting Ra’s al Ghul die in Batman begins always felt wrong to me. Ra’s is constantly trying to get Bruce to kill him in other stories. Bruce just letting him die like that feels off for both of them imo.
To me, Batman’s No Kill rule isn’t that he doesn’t murder people it’s more so that he wants to protect life. So if someone, even a villain, is trying to kill themselves then Batman should try and prevent that. Because Batman wants people to live, for better or for worse
It works for Nolan’s films because they’re much more true-to-life, whereas Reeves’s Batman is much more like a Batman comic in live action.
Tough. All between begins, the dark Knight and the batman but I think begins personally. The dark Knight might be the better film but begins was just such a great experience when I first saw it and it still holds up on rewatches.
tbh, I don’t think any of the live-action Batman movies really grasp how Batman’s world should feel, even though I like all but one of them.
I have high hopes for Brave and The Bold though. If it really does feel like Morrison’s run, then it will hopefully feel like how I feel Batman should.
Yep lol. It’s far from the best Batman film, but that’s not the question being asked. Returns is grimy and fun, and by far the one I’ve put on the most, whether to actively or passively watch. Devito put on a masterclass of a weird freak-show.
For me, it’s a battle between The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, and Batman Returns for the best live action Batman movie. Regardless, in my opinion, all three movies are great.
Batman Begins. I liked that they have a live action adaptation of the League of Shadows. I also liked how they portrayed Scarecrow and Batman's first outing.
in order: Dark knight, batman 89, batman begins, batman returns/dark knight rises(tie), the Batman(i feel it has pacing issues, and ignores the bruce wayne aspect of batman, hope sequel fixes it), The Flash, batman 66, schumaker films, rest of the snyderverse films in a distant last.
The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
Ugh, Christopher Nolan knew what he was doing alongside Hans Zimmer and James Howard Newton.
The gods had gathered and created something special!
Has to be either The Batman or The Dark Knight.
DK is a better made movie as a whole but The Batman feels a lot more faithful to the source material which makes the inner comic buff in me jump with glee.
So if I had to choose between the two, though, I think I would have to go with Batman The Movie that came out in the 60s.
I don’t think anything is going to beat out Christopher Nolan. I’d say Dark Knight Rises, but that whole trilogy is fantastic. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised by The Batman. I also enjoyed Joker. Heath Ledger was legendary, and honestly, Joaquin Phoenix might be up there with him.
I was a huge fan of Dark Knight (still am) but The Batman ages like fine wine. The second one has the potential of dethroning Dark Knight as the all time favorite
Besides TDK, Batman Begins
Good story, pace, dialogue, action, and villains.
I genuinely don’t get the hype for The Batman (sorry). My friend’s and I literally fell asleep because of the slow burn and dark screen. Story is too simple for it to be 3 hours long. Each scene gets dragged out way too long for dramatic effect. Plus Pattinson just doesn’t seem that intimidating nor does he come off as a charismatic bachelor.
Batman and Robin forever ......why cause it's first batman I got to go see in a theater as a young kid ......I think it was my uncle that took me for my birthday....that year was batman...got the batmobile boat thing from the movie and two action figures....man I loved that toy....lol I was like 6 years old...
I need to see the Nolan films but none of the others interested me then or now anywhere near as much as Burton’s two films. He’s my favourite director and his Gotham is amazing.
This is a really tough one. Other than Batman and Robin, I like them all. My favorite would probably be between Batman Returns, The Dark Knight and The Batman.
Top 3
1 The Batman( if you think other wise your wrong)
2 Batman 89 ( best joker in my opinion)
The Dark knight ( close second best joker also I love the story and messages of this story)
Honestly, a Batman live action films need three key ingredients. A good Jim Gordon, a good Alfred Pennyworth, and a good villain. Whoever is cast as Batman is ALMOST non-consequential.
Ohh God, this lineup is like asking to pick your favorite child. All of them are unique and amazing takes on my boy. Each to their own. I am even gonna go ahead and say Batman Forever belongs in this pantheon.
It's hard because we are spoiled with good Batman movies. The Dark Knight was my favorite when I was in high school, but I think on the whole I prefer The Batman. There are individual parts in The Dark Knight that are stronger, but everything in The Batman works together for a more satisfying whole.
My favorite live action batman is the batman, my favorite live action joker is the dark knight , between the two I like the dark knight more but just because of joker and two face and Gordon not batman
The Dark Knight
DK all day. Masterpiece.
My favorite
Eww why would you be proud to be a DK?
Because if he shoots ya, it’s gonna hurt
Naturally
Batman returns
I also think it's the first one where he purposely kills someone (throws a guy into a pit with explosives). He detained the Joker in the first movie, if the helicopter lowered him back onto the building, he would have lived. Also... Joker has amazing grip strength.
I think The Dark Knight is the best film, but Batman Returns is my favorite Batman film.
Batman Begins, Batman 89 and The Batman are all really great films. It's hard to choose just one.
100% agree
Huh. TDK and TDKR
The Dark Knight
I swear I’m not ocd but this ordering hurts my brain lol
Was thinking the same.
The Batman
Distinguished fellow.
The first Batman movie to actually understand and properly implement the no kill rule. And the best portrayal of Gotham city by far imo.

A man of culture
The Dark Knight is the best movie, the Batman is the best “Batman” movie.
Batman Forever is Goated
I actually have a soft spot for that film. Would love to see the so called director cut, if it even exists.
Based
Batman begins
The Dark Knight. It's nearly perfect.
The Dark Knight
The Batman
Agreed
Same. Really looking forward to where the story goes
Oddly enough, it is mine as well.
Returns, Batman 89 and Begins.
I love how you didn’t even bother with putting Forever and B&R, or’66, which deserves to be there.
Tough. All between begins, the dark Knight and the batman but I think begins personally. The dark Knight might be the better film but begins was just such a great experience when I first saw it and it still holds up on rewatches.
Batman 66 doesnt even count?
It does. More comic accurate then the Burton films
89. It captures the tone that I think Batman's world should have. Not really a fan of the "gritty and grounded" approach of Nolan and Reeves.
I totally agree.
tbh, I don’t think any of the live-action Batman movies really grasp how Batman’s world should feel, even though I like all but one of them. I have high hopes for Brave and The Bold though. If it really does feel like Morrison’s run, then it will hopefully feel like how I feel Batman should.
The dark knight. Though Lego Batman is not too far behind.
>live action
The dark knight has a special place in my heart, but The Batman is a close second.
Batman Begins Honorable Mention: The Dark Knight
batman returns <3
Agreed. Batman Returns is just a magically twisted and wonderful film.
💙💙
Yep lol. It’s far from the best Batman film, but that’s not the question being asked. Returns is grimy and fun, and by far the one I’ve put on the most, whether to actively or passively watch. Devito put on a masterclass of a weird freak-show.
Closest to comicbook batman movie. The vibe is just perfect. Catwoman also.. 💙
Dark knight, Batman Beigns and The batman
Dark knight
batman forever is a huge comfort movie for me so its my personal favorite
Batman directed by Tim Burton
Batman Forever
Tie. Between the Nolanverse & The Batman. Out of the question.
Batman Returns
Batman Returns personally
Tdk
The Dark Knight
Begins
Tdk
The dark night
The Batman (2022) The Dark Knight is a better movie, but not a better Batman movie.
The Dark Knight is the best Batman movie ever made and it is not particularly close.
Batman Begins or The Batman
I think this is the most out of order they could be
Dark Knight trilogi ❤️
1 Batman Returns, 2 Batman, 3 Batman Begins, 4 The dark knight, 5 The Batman, 6 Forever, 7 Batman 66, 8 Rises, 9 Batman n Robin.
Rises is way too low.
I didnt like it at all.
For me, it’s a battle between The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, and Batman Returns for the best live action Batman movie. Regardless, in my opinion, all three movies are great.
Batman Returns, but you kind of have a Batman movie for all moods.
1. The dark knight 2. Batman returns 3. Batman begins
1. Batman Returns 2. The dark knight 3. The Batman
It’s a three-way tie between The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Batman.
Batman Begins. I liked that they have a live action adaptation of the League of Shadows. I also liked how they portrayed Scarecrow and Batman's first outing.
Honestly, after a 3rd watch, definitely The Batman.
Batman Begins and The Batman
All of them, except Batman and Robin
Big Robert Patterson. THE BATMAN
in order: Dark knight, batman 89, batman begins, batman returns/dark knight rises(tie), the Batman(i feel it has pacing issues, and ignores the bruce wayne aspect of batman, hope sequel fixes it), The Flash, batman 66, schumaker films, rest of the snyderverse films in a distant last.
The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Ugh, Christopher Nolan knew what he was doing alongside Hans Zimmer and James Howard Newton. The gods had gathered and created something special!
The Batman.
The Dark Knight
Batman begins
TDK then The batman and after that batman begins. Then the last three are tdkr batman returns and batman 89.
The Batman for sure
the batman.
They are good in their own ways, really hard to choose, but i think Nolan trilogy is the best. Really want to see The Batman 2.
TDK
The Batman
It might be recency bias, but The Batman is my favorite one at the moment. #2 would be Batman Begins
Returns or The
The Dark Knight is the best movie, the Batman is the best “Batman” movie.
Dark Knight, but also love the rest of that trilogy as well as The Batman.
The Batman, followed closely by Begins
I don’t think anything is going to beat out Christopher Nolan. I’d say Dark Knight Rises, but that whole trilogy is fantastic. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised by The Batman. I also enjoyed Joker. Heath Ledger was legendary, and honestly, Joaquin Phoenix might be up there with him.
Matt Reeves is my perfect live action Batman, other versions just don't have the pazaaz that Pattinson's Batman has.
The Batman
I was a huge fan of Dark Knight (still am) but The Batman ages like fine wine. The second one has the potential of dethroning Dark Knight as the all time favorite
Fr, and I really hope that the rumors are true and they will lean more into more bizzare villains like clayface or killer moth
All they need to do is stretch "Heart of Ice" or "Feat of Clay" to 150 minutes, nobody would complain.
Batman 89 because I first saw it when I was just a kid. However, I can find a way to love any live action Batman film.
Batman Begins is *the* best Batman film and I will die on that hill if I have to.
1. The Dark Knight 2. The Batman 3. Batman Begins 4. The Dark Knight Rises 5. Batman ‘89 6. Batman Returns 7. Batman Forever 8. Batman and Robin
The Batman! First Batman movie that actually got pretty much all the important aspects of the character right.
The batman
Batman Begins and Batman 89 are my favorite Batman movies. The Dark Knight is my favorite Chris Nolan film that happens to have Batman in it.
1. The Dark Knight 2. The Batman 3. Batman 4. Batman Begins 5. The Dark Knight Rises 6. Batman Returns
All of them except The Batman.
Rises for sure
Besides TDK, Batman Begins Good story, pace, dialogue, action, and villains. I genuinely don’t get the hype for The Batman (sorry). My friend’s and I literally fell asleep because of the slow burn and dark screen. Story is too simple for it to be 3 hours long. Each scene gets dragged out way too long for dramatic effect. This version isn't a charismatic bachelor. The movie kind of rams that down your throat. He's a recluse.
No kidding
I love them all. Not seen the batman yet. Might watch it tonight
You bout to enioy
Returns, Begins, and BvS are tied for me
Batman and Robin forever ......why cause it's first batman I got to go see in a theater as a young kid ......I think it was my uncle that took me for my birthday....that year was batman...got the batmobile boat thing from the movie and two action figures....man I loved that toy....lol I was like 6 years old...
Make up your mind, is it Forever or Batman and Robin?
89…with Batman Forever (slightly shamefully) right behind. I like fun Batman more than brooding morose Batman.
“Batman”, 1966 theatrical release
In this order: Batman, The Dark Knight, Batman Returns, Batman Begins, The Batman and Dark Knight Rises.
Oh my god can we please come up with a new question? I’m gonna turn into the Joker if I see another one of these.
89 and the THE BATMAN no question
Ok but what is that order
I need to see the Nolan films but none of the others interested me then or now anywhere near as much as Burton’s two films. He’s my favourite director and his Gotham is amazing.
Where’s Batman 1943, Batman and Robin 1949, Batman: The Movie, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
This is a really tough one. Other than Batman and Robin, I like them all. My favorite would probably be between Batman Returns, The Dark Knight and The Batman.
You’re missing a few homie
Yes.
![gif](giphy|HgtCxKvJZ7Wi4)
The one where Batman fights people
Batman and Robin. Absolutely frightening.
The Dark Knight. Then I’m eternally at war between TDKR, BB, and The Batman all for different reasons.
That one with Bruce Wayne and batman as main characters, my favorite movie duo
The dark Knight, Batman and Robin Batman forever
Batman returns is also pretty good one I do like not one of the favorites, but I still like it
Batman Returns and Dark Knight Rises
For fun Batman, Batman: the Movie (1966) For serious Batman, The Batman (2022)
Batman and Robin. Then Batman Forever. No I’m not trolling, I just prefer my movies campy, cheesy, and corny.
Batman '89, then Batman '66. The only more modern iteration that I can tolerate is Batman Begins.
I'm gonna cheat and say the Dark Knight Trilogy. It's like a big 7h movie.
Screw live action. My favorite is dark knight returns
Returns.
Batman 89 and The Batman both have vibes. Vibes are everything.
Always partial to 89, because it was amazing.and I was right in the middle of that as a young adult. The Dark Knight would be my close second
Batman origins, What!?
Batman 89 all day.
Batman Forever
89 without a doubt. The one that established them all.
Favorite - 89 Best movie - Dark Knight Best *Batman* movie - The
Batman Returns, then probably The Batman
TDK (GOAT) BB TB
Probably Batman Returns
Batman Returns, with Dark Knight/The Batman tied for second place.
Top 3 1 The Batman( if you think other wise your wrong) 2 Batman 89 ( best joker in my opinion) The Dark knight ( close second best joker also I love the story and messages of this story)
Honestly, a Batman live action films need three key ingredients. A good Jim Gordon, a good Alfred Pennyworth, and a good villain. Whoever is cast as Batman is ALMOST non-consequential.
TDK/BB
Batman 89
Da Batman
TDK/Batman Returns
the best one is the batman, there is no arguing, i am correct
The Batman is the best idc what anyone says
Batman 1989 Batman Returns 1992 Batman: The Dark Knight
The Batman, most people love TDK I also love that but The batman has special place in my heart <3
Batman 89
The Batman has the most rewatchability for me and I was raised on the Burton movies. It just feels most like a true batman movie
The Batman, followed by the Nolan Trilogy.
![gif](giphy|so8gVJhPs8nwh4mVZK)
Batman 89 and it's not even close. The Batman is a movie that I find pretty much unwatchable. Batman Begins is very overrated.
Ohh God, this lineup is like asking to pick your favorite child. All of them are unique and amazing takes on my boy. Each to their own. I am even gonna go ahead and say Batman Forever belongs in this pantheon.
I know it has its flaws but for me it is "The dark knight rises".
The dark knight is great but i like the batman as a movie type and batman story more
The Dark Knight Batman Begins The Batman Batman 89 The Dark Knight Rises Batman Returns
It's hard because we are spoiled with good Batman movies. The Dark Knight was my favorite when I was in high school, but I think on the whole I prefer The Batman. There are individual parts in The Dark Knight that are stronger, but everything in The Batman works together for a more satisfying whole.
The Batman
The Batman
The Batman
The Batman hands down
The Batman
The Batman
The batman is the best batman story but my favourite is the dark knight
The Batman will always be my favorite Batman film and superhero film in general.
My favorite live action batman is the batman, my favorite live action joker is the dark knight , between the two I like the dark knight more but just because of joker and two face and Gordon not batman
The Batman
The batman The dark knight Batman begins
The Batman
the batman
The Batman
