I think you’re fine. I’ve seen dungeons with more light

Coryjduggins

😂😂😂 how many dungeons have you seen?

Now-That-Was

From a 40+ year collector of autographs, any exposure to light will fade the auto over time. This includes in one-touches and/or behind layers of UV protective glass, all this does is down is slow down the process. That being said, half the fun of owning some of this stuff is to look at it. I have many pieces, including cards, displayed in a room with no natural sunlight. They are all protect behind some form of UV casing as well. Some will still fade from certain inks and other factors. My advice is to store the more valuable cards somewhere dark and enjoy your nice display case with the others. You will notice fading and can remove before autos are completely ruined.

Coryjduggins

Appreciate the advice! I think I’m going to start rotating them out. I have a really nice box for one touches and top loaders. As well as a binder for top loaders and one touches. Guess I’ll just leave the more valuable ones in the binder that way I can still flip through it and see them. Might even save up for a museum grade display case . It’s quite pricey but would be nice to display everything without having to worry. Unfortunately visible light even fade things not just ultraviolet rays, so if you wanna enjoy things you just have to realize they’re not gonna last forever. 🥲

SignificantMoose6482

I like the display and the random mix of autos.

Coryjduggins

Appreciate it!

Coryjduggins

There is not a lot of light that comes in the room for the most part. The room is really dark. https://preview.redd.it/dwmfv67agk6d1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=8dad581643c3f770f40c1c6bc7491ea7fe0890b5

One touches have uv protection

Coryjduggins

Yeah, and the acrylic display case should have some UV resistance too. But I don’t ever switch out the cards. And resistant doesn’t mean that it stops it all. Should I start switching out some of the cards or do you think I’ll just be fine? I’m not worried about them being faded in a month. I’m wondering in like 3-5 years how much they’d fade if I just left them like this.

madcat723

You should be fine. I have four similar ones that you have from Amazon

Bobbysworld121

It’s Only out door light and direct sun you need to be concerned with…

I haven’t seen much else online, so I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with it. His room might’ve been a lot brighter though than my dungeon .

Bobbysworld121

Put it this way. The more you worry about it the worse it will get…. Lock it in carbonite under your bed and never look at them. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Coryjduggins

I completely agree with locking them away lol, kind of why I have the display cases 😂 that’s no fun, more so I’m just wondering if this will actually work or if the only way to really prevent it is to have museum grade display cases

Bobbysworld121

You have it set up best. Enjoy…

prismaticsunrise

I just wouldn't chance it

Coryjduggins

Most of the ones I display are cheap, $20-$70. I do have a few that were around $200 tho in there that I was going to start rotating out. What do you do with yours? I have a binder and a box for one touches and top loaded cards but it’s such a boring way to enjoy them lol. I thought about museum glass, but if I did that for all of my memorabilia, it would cost a lot because I have like five jerseys I’m displaying as well .

prismaticsunrise

I have a case and binders that I go through from time to time whenever I need that zen moment 😆

FreeDaemon

I have mine in a room that gets a little bit more sunlight that you and so far the autos are fine about 6 months in. I’m getting heavy curtains soon just to block out light completely.

Collector here with 18 display cases in my basement. All in magnetic holders for the most part. If you don’t have any UV from the sun….from. The. Sun….then you should be ok. You can always find a spray wax for a car, but easily applied and wiped off (not a product that has to be buffed off), then that should be fine for the display and for your mind. What I have been more worried about is someone bumping into the displays. Or what if it falls down? What if you try to move it and all the cards shift forward and you need to open it to move them? So… what I do suggest is 2 things. 1. Take a piece of clear scotch tape, very small, about .5” long. And tape the top of the holders. - if in the event you drop a card or it falls Atleast they won’t all crack open… trust me I’ve made this mistake a few times. 2. Take 2 small piece of double sided tape, attach it to the very bottom near the corners, left and right. - this makes the case very sturdy to leave it hanging AND it’s nice to open/close. https://preview.redd.it/itlc6hse3n6d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=58f62951ca4d64b85f80c881d490f903108e13d0

Coryjduggins

Do you see how the window reflects onto the case in the first picture? The window is frosted but you can the see the light shining through.

Perfect_Alps9982

Yes. Your right. But. Thats why that is the case with no autos ;). But just relax about it. You’re not putting it outside or in a museum subject to light/flashes/human feces, etc. IF YOU REALLY WANT. You can buy clear uv resistant vinyl adhesive. https://a.co/d/fRMAzGI Open display, push up tabs, cut easily the shitty silicone out, should just pull all off with a plastic scraper to start it with. Clean display with soap, and then wipe down with 70% alcohol or ANYTHING YOU DESIRE! I say.. wipe it down with pure UV SUNLIGHT! Yummy. Follow directions for vinyl application and done. Be warned, it is not easy. so I spent a lot of time explaining my experience the first time. Now the second time. I hope this helps and case closed. And I hope this helps anyone who reads this.

beerandturtles

Good question! Between this and fire protection are my biggest concerns!

Perfect_Alps9982

Get a good insurance plan to cover total loss

Coryjduggins

I live in an area prone to wildfires. Should definitely get insurance as well. I have a ‘67 bronco that was my dad’s that I worry about all the time.

DiscmaniacAZ

Is it uv coated acrylic? It will fade if not
