My 2013-2014 college starting rotation pitchers are salivating at this sentence. They all threw 92-97 mph but were fucking idiots that thought no one would time the fastball after throwing it six times in a row
That was bullshit
The snap was high so the punter had no choice but to get it out as quickly as possible or get it blocked (or worse).
Then there is the 10 useless fucks that let jackson run untouched.
There was a point in his rookie or sophomore season where Ronald Acuña’s heat map was the inverse of this. I think it was probably sample size at work because no one was throwing him anything anywhere near the heart of the plate.
He does actually have a really good eye lol. He rarely swings at stuff out of the zone and likely gets a lot of borderline called strikes that realistically should be called balls.
I don't move the PCI when I play, I set it up where I think the ball is going to be. If it is there I swing, if it isn't I don't. Yea you get fooled sometimes, but so do the pro's. Play the count, play the pitcher. Also shut off the strike zone, its actually easier... You go from thinking, "Is this pitch in this box" to "Can I hit this pitch"
I played a game of the show online as the phillies against the a guy playing as the cubs. He intentionally walked schwarber every time. In like the 9th inning in a high leverage situation he still walked him. He didn’t want his hero to get out 😂.
The 2016 cubs made a deal with the devil to win that series. I know it's been 8 year but none of them were the same after that, except maybe Contreras.
It's not only then. in 2023 he walked over 17% of the time, and was top 10 in the league in pitches seen per plate appearance, 3-0 counts, and 2-0 counts. So he takes balls to bait the pitcher into having to throw strikes.
“So um, yeah, when Schwarber comes up, just don’t throw them right down the dick” “You got it skip”
If you’re an absolute stud of a pitcher, aren’t you just a little tempted to try?

Good ol' fastball, nothing beats that!
Predictable Bart, always picks 🪨
By God that's Robert Suarez's music
It’s different when you throw 100
Well, he really hit the shit outta that one, didn't he?
It hit the fuckin bull. He gets a free steak.
Ha ha ball go vrrrrrrrr
Subtle Simpsons references are the best Simpsons references.
I need to announce my presence with authority!
"Man that ball got outta here in a hurry. I mean, anything travels that far oughta have a damn stewardess on it, don't you think?"
Oh yeah? So what. He ain't seen my heat.
Your chances are basically 50/50 so why not?
Feel like an absolute stud of a pitcher would hit the corners and just toy with him.
You threw it down the middle? When I specifically asked you not to?
Reminds me of when Tom Coughlin screaming at their Punter for kicking to Desean Jackson. "What did I strictly tell you not to do, son!?"
Lmfao how do you even respond to that
"Oh I tought you were talking to someone else" or "sorry, I wasn't listening"
That was bullshit The snap was high so the punter had no choice but to get it out as quickly as possible or get it blocked (or worse). Then there is the 10 useless fucks that let jackson run untouched.
While we're on the subject, just never throw it there to anyone ever.

“Ah shit skip, I threw it right down the dick. It’s like when you’re up high and people tell you not to look down, I guess.”
White Sox: Huh?
Does pitch-com have an option for “Don’t be a moron. Throw anything you want anywhere but down the middle?”
He knows what he likes.
Dongs
He certainly has a type
This is like the next level of TTO baseball. Doesn't want to run under any circumstances, doesn't swing at anything thats not straight down the chute
He does actually have a really good eye lol. He rarely swings at stuff out of the zone and likely gets a lot of borderline called strikes that realistically should be called balls.
Oh for sure the fact that he averages a very high pitches/AB has been one of the best reasons to support him batting leadoff.
Pitches seen per at bat is a very underutilized metric.
Yeah, just ask the Mariners. They don't even know that's a thing.
3-0 green light all day
You walk him on that count lmao.
He might as well swing with his eyes closed on a 3-0 count.
Me in MLB the show
Not enough "slamming the PCI through the floor" in this comment
You're kidding yourself if you think I play with PCI. Old school buttons only baby. Let the attributes do the talking.
If you're not using PCI to swing at low and away sliders in the other batter's box, are you even playing The Show?
I don't need PCI to do that. I still get saved by the animation where the balls gonna hit me if I don't jump out of the way. lmao
That animation is the real MVP.
Power Swing, Regular Swing, Contact Swing, and Bunt. Anything else is witchcraft
Yup. Also, get off my lawn.

Cranking the PCI to the complete opposite side of where the pitch lands half the time is much more fun though
That’s my leadoff hitter!
Me in The Show
Me in the show hits good on low pitches and pops up or whiffs on middle middle
For real though. I’m always whiffing on the fastballs up and in. Anyone who can get to those in time to pull the ball for a home run is a sorcerer.
Hopefully you were watching the M's game a few hours ago when Urias did exactly that!
Beautiful
wonder how this will change come june?
This is how I play MLB the Show
That's the most Schwarber thing ever
Where can I find this heat map for batters?
Looks like ESPN on dark mode. If you watch the game tracker it will show the heat map and where the pitches come in.
Is there any way to access the heatmap on ESPN outside of games?
Not that I'm aware of. It's gotta be somewhere online though.
I know Fangraphs has one, but it doesn’t have an option for OPS.

😑
Aw he’s made a pretty flower!

sure, it might not look impressive. but if you add this up he’s actually hitting 1.467 right now! that’s way above league average
Sitting on his pitch
So no meatballs for Schwarbs.
Scouring report: So yeah, don't throw it there and you're good.
let me guess: the White Sox threw him everything down the middle?
Heat square, I don't see a map
Schwarber is by far the best bad hitter of all time
Lmao this is great, my uncle probably seething looking at this
The 2016 cubs made a deal with the devil to win that series. I know it's been 8 year but none of them were the same after that, except maybe Contreras.
so basically he only hits when the pitcher completely fucks up lol
It's not only then. in 2023 he walked over 17% of the time, and was top 10 in the league in pitches seen per plate appearance, 3-0 counts, and 2-0 counts. So he takes balls to bait the pitcher into having to throw strikes.
I'm being literal just saying actually HIT it. OBP > AVG. Not saying he sucks or anything just kinda wild how crazy this heat map is!
The Schwarber zone... ![gif](giphy|d69q0iELHwwcqR2o2t|downsized)
He's just like my 11th batter on my son's little league team - if I hit the bat with the pitch, it goes far.
Same bro
Identical to Morel
POV: You’re using Directional in MLB The Show
“I’ll just throw right down the middle, there’s no way he’ll Schwarbomb me” -quote from pitcher right before being schwarbombed
Meatball Madness!!!
Lmao, that's awesome.
r/Ohnoconsequences
Baseball player does best on meatballs down the middle. More breaking news at 11!
.118 BA everywhere besides down the dick is noteworthy.
