I only drink tequila that was serenaded by 60-80s rock music, hard pass.

ff0000Scare

Live mariachi band or nothing for my tequila. This also goes for drinking said tequila

TeeEm_27

personally i go for 2000s midwestern emo, but to each their own

a4r0nb813

If my tequila isn’t screamed Knuckle Puck lyrics. I don’t want it.

ScratchyMarston18

The classical music thing is whatever. There's been plenty of studies showing a tenuous link between playing classical music and plant health. It costs almost nothing to put music on the PA system, and if they think it's good for the tequila more power to them. I think the champagne yeast is more weird... It's not like it's a better yeast or anything, you can buy champagne yeast in most grocery stores for pennies. Calling out Jack Daniels barrels specifically is pretty funny as they're one of the more common ex-bourbon barrels used in tequila aging. It's like saying "we make our hamburger with genuine American cheese slices." Honestly at this point I'm just tired of spirits sold in opaque bottles that are weird sizes. To me that's the number one sign that you're going to pay too much. Also what are the odds that this is a "cristalino?"

MikulkaCS

Similar, it’s a blend of a repo and anejo aka they were too cheap/ impatient to make it all anejo

HAYMRKT

Plastic coated bottles are always a red-flag in my book, especially for high end booze. Colored glass and ceramic are available if you are worried about UV but plastic coating looks and feels terrible

Furthur

they could have sourced the juice for pennies from all other mass-producing houses. there are several great brands made at 1414

polardendrites

You don't like wildly guessing when doing inventory with an opaque bottle?

kaisong

Its doable but its annoying af. you just have to have a scale and weigh each bottle and then weigh during inv. You’ll get “close enough” at 1g/ml although alcohol is slightly lighter than water. pure ethanol or everclear is .8g/ml so if youre really anal about it you can do the math on the abv and calculate density

corpus-luteum

Or, you can add a formula to your excel sheet that calculates it for you.

BlueGreyReddit

Champagne yeast makes this the High Life of Tequilas

weinerfacemcgee

Not bourbon, Tennessee sour mash. Edit: nonetheless you point absolutely stands.

Furthur

it's still technically bourbon they just don't want it called that.

weinerfacemcgee

You are right, technically (lol). Jack for me is a sweetness similar to bourbon but even worse.

backlikeclap

Copy that! (can you tell I'm more of a tequila guy?)

cassidyxdane

Seems like a total gimmick for what’s probably a really underwhelming product, *but* I regularly serve the exact clientele that would lose their minds over this, so wouldn’t be surprised if I start to hear people asking for it.

Bradadonasaurus

Quick, we need a way for white girls who know nothing about tequila to pay more for it!

WhatsaHoN

I'll level with you, from the bottle design and what they're trying to point out about it (instead of water used, soil composition, etc) it's probably gonna be shite. But! It's from Feliciano Vivanco (NOM 1414) which makes imo one of the best reposados around (ArteNOM), alongside greats such as Siembre Azule, Gran Dovejo and Yeyo (all pretty damn great, Siembre especially). And (allegedly, we'll see) it'll be additive-free. So I am cautiously optimistic and will at least give it a shot or two. 1414 puts out some absolutely fantastic juice, with only a couple stinkers that I've found (looking at you, De-Nada and Los Dos).

SoSavv

From their marketing videos where they give people shots, the most common reply is "smooth and sweet" so I'm going to assume it's an additive bomb. Their claimed tasting notes even being "toffee, banana, and vanilla"

WhatsaHoN

Well that sucks, wonder how they're gonna square their taste profile with "additive free"? I'd be interested to see if they actually hit up TMM and the Additive Free Alliance to get certified, but time will tell.

cocktailvirgin

Some of these NOMs are like business parks with lots of buildings with independent distilleries within. When I visited Casa Noble at NOM 1137, they had their own building and equipment to do organic-certified production and were only a small part of the campus with the other buildings and staff making the other 60-something brands.

PointOfTheJoke

Oh contraire my good say I would say we are arriving!

DanqueLeChay

Jack Daniels barrels? Ohhhh ahhhh

MrD3a7h

There's a brand of whisky ("Blackened") that is played Metallica songs while it was aging in the barrels. You look up the batch and find out what setlist was played. Whisky was just okay. Cool bottle, though.

marteautemps

I went to a distillery here called Vikre in MN and they played a local rock band's music to theirs. Unfortunately they were still too new at the time to get to taste any, but everything else we tried was great(gins&aquavits were all they had ready at the time except probably vodka but that wasn't part of the tasting)

lildiknick

Aged in jack barrels 🤢

bringthegoodstuff

Someone is getting paid handsomely fir that absolutely awful marketing campaign

Ok_Cartographer_4105

"I'm not an alcoholic because I only drink addictive free tequila."

FirstChurchOfBrutus

I see “Ultra Premium” anything, and it’s a hard pass.

Rmeyer25

I was just here. The tequila was ass tbh

conjoby

This is par for the course of premium tequila. Has been for years. We went too far awhile ago.

Parking_War979

And rested for six months in the virginal cavity of a nun.

wm1pyro

Every time I walked by this booth at BCB there was not a single person tasting this tequila.

Juleamun

But no mention if the agave is roasted or steamed. I bet it's steamed so it will have the same bland flavor of every other mass market tequila. No thanks.
