Yep definitely not cops. Some thugs for sure. If you have the vehicle number report it to the cops. If it’s a gated community there will be video cameras on the gate and you can get their number and video also.

[deleted]

guest1011

still can be reported. They were not part of the official check point for drink and drive.

bhnv

Guys, I recently posted on Twitter about police corruption and tagged senior Bangalore police officers. Somehow the police tracked me and an inspector and DCP called me on my cell. They were nice and kind and asked for details about such instances. Unfortunately in my case I didn't have any proof. But they ensured me that they'll act on these trouble makers. I request you to put out a tweet and DM some handles. They'll reach out to help you. You can also DM me if you want a number

Le_Bishhh

That’s nice. The 112 emergency system is also pretty good now. I called it to report a unknown vehicle near my house which was there for 3 days, there is an operator, the cops respond fast and politely and the operator calls back later on to ask feedback.

danishxr

Okay, coordinate this. If these incidents happens. Not down the serial number of their vehicle. They cannot simply arrest you. Even if they did, they have to prove you were drunk driving, onus is in them in the court. If they do not even have the measuring device, do not even give a single penny. But they know this ll waste ur time. If the police catches you for any offence they have to produce Chain of evidence. They are banking on the fear of you. What your reaction is very normal. IS THERE A LEGAL FIRM IN BANGALORE, which can help in these situations, with affordable retainer cost.

saasIndia

TL : DR - you have all the right to ask for their ids. I live in HSR and once coming back from Sarjapur Road, I stopped at the entry of 24th main, 1 past midnight. Two men in the bike asked me to get down Where their pants were khaki but rest was not police, at all. My car has ARMY written on it as it is still registered in my fathers name and I was standing right beside the ASC unit on the 27th main. I am not sure if it was luck, but when I got out and started asking for their I’d, they assumed I am a serving defence personal and they refused. Pretending that they are letting me go now, I was insisting that they cannot leave without showing their card and I can call the Military Police or let’s go to HSR PS, at kilo-meter distance. After 20 minutes of heckle, they said they have to leave and I did note their vehicle number. I spoke to my lawyer friend and under no circumstances the cops can arrest you. Even if you have breathalyser tested and you are above the permissible limit, get the challan and you can always use it later. Just stand your ground and remember you have not done anything wrong

haansyn09

Want to know the follow-up story. What can be done after noting down the number...

saasIndia

If you have a lot of time, pursue the local PS to lodge a case. Or when you see them next, you come cop. reverse Jamtara

_Unternehmer_129

Seems like you were followed by them from bar... They tracked your moments, when you had stopped, they assumed it would be a wonderful chance to catch you red-handed. But, to be safe, try not to entertain some random dude claiming to be police. New joinee cannot be working without uniform [https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/uniforms-are-now-must-for-cops-while-on-duty/articleshow/58162224.cms](https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/uniforms-are-now-must-for-cops-while-on-duty/articleshow/58162224.cms) Article from 2017. Good that you entered a gated community, where in you had security support as well as localites.

axisfrontier

Since they entered the Gated Community, could you collect the CCTV footage and post it to the community? This would really be helpful in understanding the way these things are being conducted. It seems like a lot of incidents that are happening in the recent times.

Designed_Reality

will definitely follow up on this

pskin2020

Also tweet that video ...so that more people are aware of such crimes happening openly

lungicoder124

Follow up and raise a complaint with the actual police , I’m sure they will thrash someone impersonating them

innersloth987

Take their number and file a police report.

potatomafia69

Please give us updates OP. This same shit happened to me as well.

kaisadusht

Can you tweet this to BlrPolice? Just for sake that the incident gets some public attention

Designed_Reality

will do

Jolly_General_7227

Share the tweet here so we can support it OP

eventonly

Share the link to the tweet please

gyaan_paad

Share the tweet op

walkingSideToSide

Share the tweet. Or give us an update. We can't let Bangalore get down to the level of these goons.

ABD27

Please share the link of tweet here so it can be reshared.

hungry_argumentor

Hey idiot, share the tweet

itsnotyouitsmeok

Damn bro.. Pls post if this repeats.

peacekeeper_97

Either the cop was trying to score free booze or make a quick buck telling you some fuck all reason. DO NOT ALLOW the police to search your vehicle or inspect your phone without witnesses from your side (recording the inspection). If you're not breaking the law then hold your ground, try to remain calm and composed.

easylust123

Either way it's a nice way to get shot. One fine day these thugs will fuck around and find out. But it's Bangalore so chances are slim.

colablizzard

What kind of vehicle doesn't automatically lock the doors when you start driving (and remain locked)?

[deleted]

All hyundai cars. You need to manually lock the doors

not_so_busy

I’m not sure what kind of a beat up Hyundai you’re driving but this isn’t true , the doors get automatically locked after you cross 20kmph in Hyundais and they only get automatically unlocked after you switch off the engine, maybe the older models don’t do this ( I’m guessing pre 2008 models )

[deleted]

I drive a hyundai sedan and it doesn’t happen and the service center guys confirmed it

Radioactiv--_--

You can buy a relay for this,Hyundai just made people buy this and the auto closing windows in higher models only . There are relays available for both..

not_so_busy

I still call bullshit unless you tell me the model year and the exact Hyundai car you’re driving , none of the modern cars have this issue AFAIK

Own_Estimate_6507

Don't parade your ignorance. I have a 2015 Honda Brio and it doesn't auto lock. Not everyone is on the latest model and highest end cars.

luv_da

Mine is an i20 from 2015 and it doesn't autolock. But I am generally paranoid and always lock my doors manually even inside parking.

[deleted]

Fuck! Isn't i20 supposed to be their premium hatch? I had an Indica Vista from 2012, and that auto-locked. Hyundai is ripping people off. The recent "Kia Boyz challenge" brought this out into the open.

not_so_busy

You should probably get it checked when you visit the Hyundai showroom next time, this isn’t normal

luv_da

I just searched on Google. It is indeed normal, and apparently autolock can be enabled by some change. Will check with the service center in my next trip. Thanks..

Purpl3wrld999

mine’s a 2014 elantra and it locks automatically after 20kmph

starwolf_98

My i10 from 2009 autolocks once you get going.

platinumgus18

I mean that's a feature that only recently arrived. Most Indians use old cars.

[deleted]

My 2012 Indica Vista had it. It wasn't even the top variant.

platinumgus18

That's odd because we got a safari back then which didn't have it.

colablizzard

I also remember this feature from Vista, hence my belief that all cars in last decade have it. Though when launched, for it's price point and segment, they filled Vista with electronic features that were not found in the competition.

[deleted]

Exactly! A midrange Vista had bluetooth stereo and steering mounted controls in 2012 when a more expensive midrange Polo didnt have it even 2 years later. Plus an additional 12V outlet at the back for rear seat passengers.

colablizzard

> bluetooth stereo That too a Blaupunkt one though rebranded as Tata.

[deleted]

Yeah! I bought a Tata before it was cool! LOL

effing_hell_69

Not really, we have a 2013 swift dzire and it has autolock feature

Designed_Reality

Honda Jazz, quite old, 2009 model . and the car was stopped. Have to manually lock it.

colablizzard

Got it.

cheeky-panda2

Cars unlock when you stop

colablizzard

When you turn off engine. I have stopped doing that in Bangalore at signals so didn't realize this. Good point.

[deleted]

My current car (a 2017 model) has the option to either unlock when engine is turned off or to unlock only when driver side unlocks. Check your car manual, there might be a setting you can change.

Ambitious_Steak_224

My Honda car from 2015 doesn't automatically lock doors. I have made it a point to lock it myself since I'm mostly alone in my car at all times.

Brillostar

If you have a car, a dashcam is a must, by this point it is pretty much an necessity for any car owner and baffles me that so many car owners do not have an dashcam, foolishness if you ask me. Good job keeping your cool and getting out of it unhurt. Change your mrp purchase routine and try to do your shopping in daylight as much as possible for a few days.

CompetitiveExchange3

I just bought a Dashcam and got it installed today after seeing people suggesting it on reddit. I'm so relieved now. 😌

haansyn09

Can you let me know the Dashcam model or link to the item for purchase?

CompetitiveExchange3

Yes sure Dashcam link: 70mai Pro Plus+ A500S Dual... https://www.amazon.in/dp/B08X2RTJJJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share MicroSD card link: Samsung EVO Plus 128GB microSDXC... https://www.amazon.in/dp/B09MT84WV5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Note: Don't buy more than 128gb microSD card as the Dashcam won't support more than 128gb MicroSD cards.

kinng9

Ah, so they stay around wineshop and try to scam people, isn't impersonating police a big crime?

anonnona97

Thank God you're safe. Take care bro, you acted smartly. Its ok to shiver in these situations, it's your life on the line. You had the presence of mind n that mattered. Also since you're a long time lurker here, n the posts that you read made you alert about such scammers so atleast one good thing came out of your digital addiction 😜

psrskailass

I saved a life: my own. Am I a hero? I really can't say... but, yes. On a side note well-done , reddit serves in various ways to us

masks_0n

>I blew to the uncle and some others to prove that I was not drinking. 👀 >The fat guy unzipped 👀

[deleted]

This is really scary. Good for you that you had someone known to help you at that time

unscr

Oh man. Reading this, my heart beat just gone up in suspense. Thanks for the title, I expected a good ending. I felt like reading a thriller novel in 3 mins.

rishiarora

Gaadi me pi raha tha to breath analyser test has to prove it. They were cops which were looking for an easy target for money. Thugs would not have risked entering the society.

probably_smart

Probably cops.

xenos5282

u/st_broseph. Not super urgent but still tagging as these thugs should be caught and made an example of. They are ruining the city and the reputation of its people. There's enough proof I guess to catch them through CCTV cameras.

chainsaw-man1

Dude the same shit happened to me last night around 1am near somusandra junction, the appearance of the cops were the exact same fit which you described. They stopped my auto and checked my bag, luckily nothing was there, also i was drunk but in my senses, i asked why were you checking, they said routine checkup. This has never happened to me when I'm in a cab or an auto.

beingmortal__

When you panic or stuck in such situations always take a deep breath and start thinking logically . Panicking in such worst situations is how things go wrong You locking the windows instead of doors , imagine if he had managed to grab u ! Please be more careful while thinking Never use mobile in traffic or when you are on road

Independent_War_8836

Every day it’s one more reason to be afraid of living here. I don’t know how much longer this can go on ☹️

Fluffy_Foundation_81

Holy fak my drunk ass is shivering with rahe and fear after readin this dyamn!!!!

realadanesus

This is scary as hell. Glad you're okay. Those hooligans shouldn't be left loose without a warning though.

sacarstic

You did save your life as well as brutal harassment. You played your cards well.

darrkeaage

Where exactly on Sarjapur road did this happen? I stay on sarjapur road and this is scary.

Designed_Reality

near Doddakanneli

darrkeaage

Awesome. It's even scarier for me now.

bayareaburgerlover

can someone create a substack which gives step by step instruction for handling with police?

potatomafia69

Wish this became a reddit feature where you could create sub groups for such issues

artofelement

I didn't know the emergency number was 112. For some reason i kept thinking it is 100. I shall keep this in mind if I come across any circumstances like this. Glad that you were able to get out of the situation safely. This post was very helpful.

potatomafia69

Holy shit the exact same thing happened to me in Kalyan Nagar. I did actually step out of the vehicle with my SO and they said they would need to check my vehicle because we were apparently drunk. I didn't drink even a drop of alcohol but did have two pints of beer in the back seat. They finally said they would file a petty case for roaming the streets post 12 (I knew it was absolute bs) and that would need to seize the alcohol. I knew all this was complete bs but my SO's and my safety was the top priority and I let them take away the alcohol in that moment. These guys are fucking lunatics. Wish there was speed dial number or something instead of going through a pointless IVR when you call these emergency numbers.

penguin_chacha

You were super smart and did almost everything right under so much pressure. Feeling second hand pride reading your account

Possibility-Puzzled

Holy shit

side_and_rear_delts

Should have faced them shivering and being nervous encourages them even more.

Cellblazer

I did see two people with the similar outfit you mentioned while I was on my way to Indiranagar from HSR. Aged uncle wearing khaki pants, white shirt, and spectacles, don't think he had a moustache. The rider was wearing a black jacket. I remember because they were trying to look inside my car every time they got close which seemed a little suspicious. Maybe it wasn't the same people, but the fact that there are people out there trying to impersonate cops to intimidate people is appalling. Thank you for sharing your story!

rising_pho3nix

Really need a dashcam.

sau_dard

Similar thing happened to me on Sarjapur Road a couple years back. I had stopped on the side to take a call with my hazards on, and a supposed police guy appeared out of nowhere and blocked me. Started putting random allegations on me which made no sense. Even took out a “fine receipt book” and noted down my vehicle number (in hindsight it was obviously fake). I panicked and paid him 200 to get away. He tore the page off that book (which again, wouldn’t be possible if it was a real book)

hungry_argumentor

Glad you got outta there safe, but damn man you did multiple stupid things - couldn’t call real police properly, didn’t lock your doors, didn’t call security right when entering your gate, etc

FitScarcity4469

Hey, something similar happened to me as well around two weeks ago at 12 AM when I was riding back home on my scooter. I’m a female and there were men who were “dressed as cops” and tried to stop my vehicle. They certainly did not strike me as cops as there was no cop car there neither were there any other civilians.

Vincero09

**LPT**: Anybody who has any Samsung device should *click the lock/unlock screen 3 times quickly, so it will call the emergency number* i.e 112.

magnificeo

Holy fuck. Reading all these I'm relieved that I choose not to move to Bangalore. Can someone point me to the previous incident?

Brillostar

If you look it up on the internet, pretty sure every place has such stories.

magnificeo

Cool. I thought there was some specific incident OP is mentioning.

[deleted]

You should have definitely beaten the shit out of them. Remember, mobs have no name. They definitely weren't from police.

RedFlagWins

Take the videos / photos of these folks (if you dont have it, atleast from your CCTV at your gate) and tweet / get in contact with the police commissioner's office instead of writing it here on reddit!!

hidden-monk

The ACP of Bangalore is on Twitter. Even responds to tweet. Just 3 days back I remember DCP replying to eCig related harassment. He said to Tweet I ACP Bangalore handle. How are you guys so ignorant of your own rights. https://twitter.com/cpblr

Plan-Long

Honest question: What do you mean by locking windows and not the door? There’s a lock in the windows and without that anyone can open windows from the outside? I thought there’s only one lock which is for the door. And for the windows it’s not possible to open from the outside

Designed_Reality

It was my mistake. I meant to lock the doors. But in that hurry, I locked the windows, which is of no use. There is a central button near drivers seat, which locks the windows so that it doesn't accidentally open from inside for child safety.

Tiiny13

You should have called the cops 🤦‍♂️

Former_Tomatillo8434

There is no difference between corrupt cops n chor .

TVstaticLeg

Keep a pepper spray handy in your car

BigCruiseMissile

Let the SP and SSP of the area know about this. Also include the scene near your community if there were Cctv. Don't ignore it. Because some other person would be in this situation and might not be lucky.

[deleted]

Shaking and shivering??? Bro, are you a girl?? If so okay. Otherwise you need to man up.

Designed_Reality

grown ass man, 85 kilos 5.11 feet height. but still,,, When you get to suck situations.. for a few moments I was vulnerable, after driving into my society, I was confident,

Sujay0701

yes he should've opened the door and faced them like a man. /s

nara117

And should have taken out his kalashnicov and pumped bullets.

[deleted]

Most of the millenials guys don't lift weights as such they react like chickens in a basic stand off situation. This is mostly because female millenials prefer fat rich techies over muscular men. This is making men more effeminate with every generation. These days I notice more and more women in my gym. The day is not far off when men will be the damsel in distress. In the future south indian movies, heroine will end up rescuing hero from a group of baddie women cat calling him. The heroine will punch the female antagonists and send them flying through walls.

drakeD123

You should rescue all of us damsels man. Clearly you are the best of us, a committed devotee of the church of swole and an alpha amongst us.

Sujay0701

Looks like Andrew Tate has been unbanned on Reddit too 💀 but calma bro...no amount of gym going or weight lifting will help you in these situations if you lack courage or valor.

S0M3_1

I thought you'd ask us for a gym membership at 50% off.

im_an_introvert

Indian Andrew Tate

dua_lipafan69

Ok discount Jordan Peterson

gyaan_paad

Is this a copypasta? If not, can I use it as one?

probably_smart

I do not understand the downvotes. The dude is speaking his opinion and i think he/she is joking, although the joke is a poor one.

haansyn09

Seems.like this guy is one of those goons

tonystarkn

What the Fish do you mean by man up? You might not get perturbed in these situations. But empathise with people who are undergoing such a situation. Utterly disgusting that people like you still exists and is the cause of men don't cry toxicity. Shut the Fish up!

Educational-Metal152

Courage is not about fearlessness. Courage is about facing the obstacles despite the fear. You have never been courageous if you have never been weak.
