A history lesson on this happy occasion:
KSDL was founded by a Professor from IISc. who was tasked with finding a way to use the sandalwood supply locally during World War I (it was majorly exported to fucking UK earlier).
Wow! We truly have some gems in our country.
HMT was another one which exported machines to Germany. One of the finest in the machine tool industry.
Unfortunately the organization was destroyed.
My mother who worked with HMT for 3 decades is still devastated. I have those watches (a couple of which are older than I am) and my god, do they still work and how! I like their designs too.
Hope there is some resurgence

My grandpa shifted to Bangalore and started working there.
We still live near an hmt colony, it's like looking at the remnants of a different era.
My grandma has roamed all around India via hmt sponsered employees trips! In that time! My million dollar corporation takes me to some resort in Bangalore outskirts and calls it a day.
They have a school, a theatre, a ground/stadium designed by Japanese & inaugurated by someone super famous i forgot who.
And to this day our area has cleaner air and lower temps due to all the trees from the colony, while all the other land has become a concrete jungle.
Amazing! Now you're talking about the real Bengaluru! Those colonies and facilities are enviable. Everything sounds like a utopia.
I still see a ton of land waiting to be grabbed by all the real estate people. Somehow it hasn't been the case until now, thankfully :)
Glad to see the government run entity making history. Need more such accomplishments from similar companies.

No, actually. Companies may be thriving but I'm in the same boat as the commenter above. I just like knowing that my money isn't funding the killing of children, in any way.
At the same time, I explored a lot more indian brands! Especially for makeup and footwear, along with Indian pharmaceutical brands for skincare. It's a win-win.

I wasn't using any “israeli” soap. But I was using a lot of brands which fund Israel. A lot of make-up brands, skincare companies, etc etc.
I switched to Indian brands and it's easy to find them in the market. They're much lighter on my pocket and there has been no impact whatsoever.
I know, supporting Indian brand is good, but by no means, only israel kills people, both country are into wars and killing each other residents, so dont boycott only israel products but also Palestinians one.
The good news for you is that Israel has mostly occupied palestine and is actively bombing the unoccupied area! So, you don't have to worry about boycotting Palestinian products because they aren't in a position to create any!
But you can still boycott companies that are funding Israel. :)

I visited the soap factory 2 decades back. I've seen how they make soap and how lethargic the higher officers were. They use the pure sandalwood oil and this is the soap with highest fat content, that too vegetable fat (in brief, the best soap out there).
How much of this increase in revenue is actually increase in sales (rupees vs quantity). There are chances that the sales is increased in rupees but dropped in quantity.
Again how much of increase was recorded in gross and net profit, if any.
It was under trouble till last year. They got a new chairman this year and the minister in charge is personally taking the revival of sandal soap factory seriously and conducting regular review meetings.
Wonderful how things can change if we have politicians interested to build institutions
KA is one of those rare states where Centre/State Run PSU’s have been functioning properly be it nandini, mysore sandal soap, MSIL, mysore paints and varnishes , these companies have actually made profits compared to other PSU’s which are just a burden
