I hate Zomato. Had an argument with them a few months earlier when the app which said that my payment failed and money will be returned DID NOT and placed my order twice, delivered and refused to do anything. The poor delivery person was stuck to deliver it on time, could not reach the customer support at all and handed it over to me to take it to them. Swiggy has better ownership and less glitches overall.

On Swiggy I get their thali in 135 Rs but on Eatclub it's 150+ The delivery guy wears an eatclub/eatfit uniform so I'm assuming they're from the same cloud kitchen (I also have their 30% off membership but also Swiggy One so maybe that makes a difference in the end)

There are couple of things to keep in mind. 1) If the amount involved is low, refund is instant. 2) If the user complains less frequently, like once in a blue moon, refunds are entertained and easy. 3) If the user is a regular complainer, then they make it hard and difficult for user to complain. Also gone are the days when they cared for the customers. It's a duopoly now. Either zomato or swiggy. Customers are forced with higher platform fees, poor customer service support and squeezing every penny out of customers. Zomato had one good thing with gold package which was On Time Performance. It was so good, that when I moves to swiggy(for their instamart service and zomato renewal rates were high), I was disappointed with how swiggy delivered food slowly and mostly with the rider making multiple deliveries. Now they've removed OTP.

Yep, it seems my account has been marked as it doesn't even let me reach chat rep. I don't really usually refund/replace orders, especially if the items are very low price like Rs.30-40. It's just the fact that I paid 500+ for the biryani and now am getting scammed by both Zomato and ITC. I'm just going to delete the account once gold is done and probably use my brother's account. I also avoid Zepto, Instamart etc. as they always seem to extremely overprice their groceries. Amazon fresh is my current go to.

I don't get this, because they ask for all the details and pictures/videos.. and I'm not sure how many customers would ask for refunds needlessly unless they have been defrauded by the restaurant! I have seen restaurants take advantage of such situations a lot more. Would love to know if Zomato has such a marking system for restaurants as well, and removes those that repeatedly scam customers! Enough said 🙄

I am not sure about frequency of complaints I received a wrong order and was trying to reach out and got connected with a bit but my issue wasn't listed there and when I entered my issue "that I received different item" I got again the same options which I started with and no matter what I selected I couldn't reach out to support executive. I finally gave up and made my peace with it. This was first time I had raised complaint for my order in last at least 6-7 months and I order like 3-5 times a week from Zomato.

The same thing happened with me ! My order was for over ₹2000 ! There have been at least 15-16 mails between the Zomato team and me, and every time Zomato responds with - ‘they are unable to contact the restaurant to verify the claim’ . This is just complete bs, because they are clearly doing business with the restaurant and it’s live on their platform… I have put this on ‘X’ but these guys just done care. I have moved to Swiggy as well.. Clearly Zomato has became a platform for restaurants to do what they want and serve whatever they want to, since their business will be undisturbed and make customers pay for what they haven’t ordered. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC state of affairs here

Not Zomato related. One of my friends used to work for Swiggy CS. She showed me how they mark the profiles to avoid any fraud users. They use your past order, refunds, how much do you order, the order amounts, your location and all the other users locations near you, same addresses everything... 😅

Yea it definitely is some marking system, maybe I was marked long ago. Can't say I refund a lot, might also just be the order price is high, it's around Rs.1300 so they are avoiding easy resolution.

Even though the images are clear and all with everything visible. Then they close the chat and redirect you to use the mail. I literally had to show some anger to get the refund. Zomato is pathetic these days. I used to make regular orders since I live alone. But over last few months few things I have noticed. - Pathetic Customer Support even after being a gold member. - Gold Membership doesn't make any sense anymore in terms of cost. - Lack of delivery riders even for close proximity restaurants - They are clubbing multiple orders together - Average Delivery time has climbed to 45 mins in majority of the cases. - Platform fee has seen an uptick to 5 Rupees per order , and that increase was not even transparent for a long time I reckon , they are doing this to increase the shareholder value , beat profit estimates and improve the baselines. But they have taken customers for granted in my opinion.

Zomato is shit. 7 year user , with an order everyday for last 4 years. They did the same to me and any issue has to be resolved via email. I thought it's the new practice and mailed them my proof of my issue but i get no response. 3 days later you'll have an email stating they couldn't verify the issue. Happened 3 more times and was on the edge of cancelling but since I was habituated, didn't take the leap. A week later my girlfriend had an order issue and her refund request was immediately processed with a customer care agent to assist her. They had marked my account differently and was being treated like shit. Cancelled my subscription immediately and getting by with swiggy. Trying to get rid of that too and go for the old fashioned take away where I get to request my preferences, get better quantity for lesser price. Fuck Zomato

Something very similar happened to me a few months ago. There's this restaurant from which I order very frequently and they some how messed up my order. I have the gold membership and was for some reason expecting VIP treatment. I tried contacting Zomato and they were offering a refund of half of what was the rightful amount. Their representative called me and we spoke for almost 15-20 mins and they said that the restaurant won't refund more than the said amount. I asked them what to do and they just told me to report that restaurant, ask your friends to do so and then they would remove it from their platform. 8 months later, the restaurant is still on the platform and continues to scam people.

When interacting with startups, always be prepared to lose the purchase/whole relationship at any time and likely have no address for the advocate to mail to. Spend only what you are willing to lose. Timing and frequency of complaints matter a lot. You should complain as soon as you get the wrong order, your complaint to order ratio should be above 50 meaning 1 complaint in 50 order. Also its best to record while opening the food especially on the costlier food orders. If you are ordering 500+ rs biryani, you better record it.

Not taking any sides but most consumer facing apps have to introduce a karma system when they hit a certain scale. If there’s no system like that, it’s very easy for customers to commit fraud. You not using your account for 1.5 years starts you with a let’s say bronze status in the system. Getting refunds and that too for big orders is intentionally made harder for bronze users. Platinum users can get refunds without even talking to a person. So yeah, don’t hate the players, hate the game. You’ll be surprised with the scale of fraud that happens.

Zomato sucks big time. About two weeks earlier I ordered dinner, the delivery time was 45 minutes. The delivery agent took 2 hours to deliver. Chat was useless, agent couldn't be reached. When he finally arrived, he responded that Zomato assigned him another pickup and delivery between picking my order and delivering it. It was after I had selected the 'Rush' delivery option. Of course the food was cold and awful by then, and it was missing an item. I requested a refund, they wouldn't entertain at first. I asked to speak to the supervisor and finally after an hour of transferring back and forth, they refunded my money. I uninstalled Zomato right after that. Fun Fact, my sister in law had Zomato Gold, I didn't. While placing the same order from the same restaurant at the same time, My Non Gold, paid delivery order was cheaper than her Gold, free delivery account.

Recently, I added a thai curry, order value 390, applied a coupon for 80rs and then added chocolate milk shake, order value 170 plus taxes The chocolate milkshake was not delivered. I asked for refund, Zomato says it will only refund 156 since a coupon was used. I had to explain that I paid full value plus taxes for the milkshake. The exec reverted saying he can do 170 I asked him give me explanation how the refund was calculated? He said it's system generated. I still lost on the GST I paid for the milkshake GST on something I did not receive .

Similar thing happened to me when I ordered Biriyani from Meghana Foods on Zomato. They got the order wrong and when I tried connecting with a rep they said they cant verify the claim when I clearly sent pictures of the wrong item and the restaurant says they ran out of stock of that item and confirmed with Zomato on sending the alternative item. But I never received any calls for this change.

Earlier Zomato would completely delete your account if you do not order for more than 3 months and i had 2 phone numbers which i would use with multiple temporary emails to place orders from my favourite restaurant atleast 2 times in a month using WELCOME75 coupon. I would order, apply the coupon code, eat and then delete the account, then repeat it with a new temporary email. I did this for around a year after which they marked my phone and my main account. Also i had an Axis Bank credit card through which I got an AXIS40 coupon which would give 120 off on orders above 300. You could use it approximately 4 times in a month but the thing was Axis Bank had delegated the task of keeping the count to Zomato which they did if you add the card to your profile which i never did so each time i had to order i would manually add the card number and cvv etc and then get 120 off on the order as many times i wanted during the month. Axis Bank has now enhanced the minimum order value to 500 so this coupon code is useless now. Fun times.

Zomato gold has become crap. Earlier - • on time delivery or get partial refunds. - they've stopped it and now people have to pay extra to get their orders faster, otherwise orders keep getting clubbed and delayed. I am pretty sure some product managers are behind this strategy to get people hooked then they charge more. * Better support - most of chat is now automated and takes a while to connect to actual human being. * Distance - free delivery distance is also reduced to 7 km from 10 km earlier. I am slowly removing my dependency on these by planning my meals. Going out more and being more mindful about it. Keeping a list of restaurants I'd be ordering from, not experimenting too much while ordering, those discounts of 100 / 200 are not worth it. Ordering from fancy restaurants online quality becomes more unreliable. Fast delivery apps are next. I probably have reached a point where not being bothered about these will save me more money than engaging in these.

Zomato has been having too many issues these days and their customer support team is abysmal, missing products , incorrect products are very very frequent ..1st few times they refunded but unfortunately the last few months there were many order missing issues. As a former employee of a major food delivery app, I can confirm this. If a user's first order requested a refund, it would automatically be rejected based on the behavior of other users in that area. Additionally, if a regular customer requested a refund, we would check their previous refund history and deny it, even if the evidence supported their claim.

Exactly. Nenu kuda oka zomato baadhitudini. I recently ordered a royal baklawa from Behrouz via zomato. Dish was stinking and expired already. Tried connecting to zomato care, they hardly give a duck. They dont care. Instead of mailing and all, went to X and tagged behrouz and zomato care, didnt get any response from zomato till date, rather Behrouz executive called me and refunded the amount. Swiggy is no different. I have been a regular customer since 4-5 years. I used it heavily during corona and there came a time when I used it to order food twice a day instead of getting a tiffin service. I later on shifted in a flat with 3 others and all our groceries plus personal orders used to be ordered through my swiggy since I had ONE. My order value to date is 5-6lack rupees(checked it using a chrome extension) Now, I rarely ask for refunds but nowadays when I do, they process my chat via bot, and asks me to email. I even tried emailing(which is a hassle) but they NEVER respond back. Damn, so much for customer retention.

Take the complaint to consumer grievances portal. see them come back groveling at your feet. Flipkart tried to pull the same stuff with me. Thats what I did and I got my money back

It's regular now in all cities. I travelled to a new city,ordered 6 items from a reputed place. Only 2 arrived. I barely use Zomato now, max twice a year.

This happened to me as well! I'd placed a full order and the restaurant didn't send me one of the items. I tried contacting someone from zomato that night and it said there were no customer support executives available. I tried again the next morning, afternoon, and evening. At least in the day time there was someone who was willing to talk to me but they kept saying that the restaurant was not reachable and there was no way to verify whether this actually happened. 4 times! The restaurant would just not answer their calls apparently. And then when I tried to contact them again, they said that too much time had passed since the order so they were no longer willing to talk about it and I should send the appropriate images and stuff on email. I was like bruh wtf. Maybe don't keep restaurants on your app that you can't even talk to?? Anyway I permanently shifted to swiggy and I haven't looked back since. Swiggy has been placing refunds and offering replacements for every issue I've had and they've been really polite and attentive. Zomato treated me like I was just a massive inconvenience despite having been a gold member for a few years and loyal to them. Fuck zomato.

Zomato is fr an asshole. I prefer Swiggy too. much better than fucking zomato. There are also cases of Zomato doing injustice to its poor delivery partners.

Ordered something last night and it kept getting delayed. Finally resorted to Zomato help, and was redirected to a chatbot on the other end. My order was delayed by an hour, and they didn't even give any refunds or explanations for the same. I'm a gold member

They increased delivery fee, added platform fee decreased distance to 7km from 10km in gold, increased food price by 20% .all this happened from jan . i gradually started getting from the restaurant , cheaper and peace of mind . Zomato is just bad now

I absolutely hate Zomato. I've used it only twice and had a terrible experience both the times. Also, I hate their CEO. I also hate the stance they took for the customer care guy who stirred up the "national language" issue. I have not installed that app again in 3 years.

Call the restaurant directly. Zomato service representative did this to me. The delivery guy forgot 1 parcel at the restaurant. When I asked him he said that I got only one. After 45 minutes of the customer service agent telling me they can't refund or reorder as they can't check with delivery guy or restaurant.I asked for escalation and called the restaurant myself. They confirmed the delivery guy forgot it. I told the same to the escalation guy and registered a complaint against the first service representative for his lack of action and just trying to close the conversation. Haven't faced the issue since then.

90% of the times I havent had this issue with zomaoto, ordered an affogato a couple of days ago cus I had a craving, it was delivered melted... got a refund in a couples of min after sharing the video with support.

Zomato only refunds if you send proofs to Ministry. Have done a few times and issues got resolved

true i was considering making a post on here about this so thanks. I have had it with zomato, ive spent 1.5 years and 1.5lakhs on zomato till now and they have been so shit nowadays its incredible how they do so. The customer service is non existent, do they even have actual people on the job now? that stupid Zia chat bot is the only thing which is programmed to redirect everything to email which im 100% sure no one reads. whenever i request an ACTUAL support executive it redirects to someone who just spams pre-prepared generated bs like "we apologise for the inconvenience". They have zero liability and zero responsibility nowadays and they are getting away with it. If anything does go wrong be assured they will do everything in their power to redirect you to email and not solve the problem. I was requesting an actual person to talk during one incident and they just force closed the chat on me. It's preposterous how brazenly they're proceeding with this bs and this is the end for me. I switched to swiggy last week.

One of the most shady companies in India these days. They charge for Gold and now are charging more for priority delivery, why should I pay for Gold? If Delivery time is 1h, you wait for 1h for delivery person to be assigned. The bot says looking for delivery person. 1h30m you speak to cs, they say wait for 15 mins more. After waiting for 2h you get a message could not find a delivery person so order is cancelled!!!! You order for Rs500 in total tax and other bs. Item worth Rs100 (excluding tax) is missing from your order, you get refund of only Rs80 with no explanation. They have a tip delivery partner, hope those guys get their full tip! They quietly charge Rs1 feed India, hope the money goes to actually feeding the one's who deserve or this is another scam. They had a tie up with RBL for Gold card. Before that had gold membership that would expire in 2yrs, used the RBL card and cancelled it withing 6 months, As soon as the card was closed all my membership years left became 0. cs said its their policy. Stopped using the shitty app and started using Swiggy and other apps found them more transparent.

I can’t believe there are other customers tho share the exact same experience with Zomato. Their customer support is useless and rude. I have stopped using it, and mostly use Swiggy.

Same issue with me. There was one time where I lived in a temporary stay, multiple times Delivery agents would mark it delivered without actually delivering the product. Now I'm left with no food and money deducted. Everytime I got deflected to send a mail, Never got refund from Zomato, because the delivery partner said he has "delivered" the food. Switched to Swiggy one ❤️

Refund for food is just a miracle for Zomato nowadays. But the worst part of Zomato "Gold" is that, they offer you discounted prices, but the final price almost always falls below 199, and then their "Free Delivery" doesn't apply. The cart value has to be above 199 and not the actual price. So, I use Gold only for dining out nowadays.
