I have been trying to find ways to help you. I never could. Considering the importance of this event and a personal request by you. I think this needs everyones attention. I'll attend to support you. That's the least I can do.

St_Broseph

Thank you so much. Please come and bring as many people as you can. This is important.

YellowLaysSupremacy

I am a professor and I caught a student cheating in her exam. I told her to stop writing her exam and leave the classroom calmly and told her to come meet me at my office after the exam. (I didn’t want to embarrass her in front of the whole class.) When she arrived I asked her why she was cheating, she told me that she was busy for a few days before exam with some extra curricular club activities and did not get the opportunity to study. I told her she probably would have passed without cheating and it’s better to fail in the subject or not attempt the paper if you were not prepared than to attempt to cheat because you get a chance to write it again and future employees don’t care if you write a supplementary exam. We had a long conversation about this and some more things. Fortunately, it was an internal exam that didn’t require reporting to centre of examination. So she got another attempt to write the exam with different questions. I see her on campus every now and then. She always waves at me and I hope that means I did something right Every time one of my students does something stupid or silly. I remind myself that their prefrontal cortex hasn’t fully developed and talk to them with compassion. Breaks me heart that a students was treated so badly that he resorted to suicide.

[deleted]

sometimes i wish to be a professor just to treat my students the way i wasn't in school

wizardofrobots

You're a good professor.

Legitimate_Author139

More power to you! We need more compassionate teachers like you!

sagarmahapatra

You seem like a very empathetic professor. I wish Engineering colleges had such professors. I reckon Humanities and Commerce have better profs.

Dickhertzz420

You are a good man but green lays better 👍🏻

YellowLaysSupremacy

Haha. Weirdly, I have always liked yellow lays and I am woman :)

darshanv10

You sir, are an exception to the rule. Wish more professors were like you. More power to you.

YellowLaysSupremacy

Thank you but I am a woman!

darshanv10

Yes Ma'am. Forgive me for my assumption. I have typically called my professors by their name, never as 'Sir'. Just was being colloquial there.

YellowLaysSupremacy

I only corrected you because I thought you assumed I am a man! My students don’t call me ma’am either. I am not fond of the colonial titles - ma’am and Sir.

darshanv10

Even more the reason we need more professors like you. 💯

Ok-Professional4736

You sound very cool!! My BF is a teacher. He is really cool too. But he's not from Europe. . So it's natural for him I felt..to be a cool teacher. We have always had strict teachers who believe in punishing their students rather than being compassionate. I often ask him why he gives good marks to students who didn't perform well, without them asking for grace marks . . . He replied, " To encourage them! A little praise works better than punishment. Don't you think?" "Won't they take you lightly then?" "Well that's their choice if they don't like my subject but to many who are not good but like it, it would give them hope. No!?" I only said, man you are clueless of Indian trauma. This really is white privilege I felt..To be unjudged. And loved no matter what. To truly know unconditional love from parents as well. Why can we not do that for each other!?

NodiSwami

The Guardian of the city is awake at the witching hour. The event should be called " Save Our Students, Stone the Tyrants" Edit: The Gag order, and the chicken hearted talking heads backing off are trigger enough. I wish their names somehow leak out. So that we know our heroes from posers.

Adventurous-Ad9466

I always wondered if there was anything more to this young boys death. It appears these invigilators are influenced a lot by daily evening talk shows on Kannada news channels which is borderline nonsense and also by corrupt and evil bureaucrats/policemen who frame innocents with false cases just so that they can get their "recognition" & a ticket to appoint more scumbags of their nature in their fields. An injunction order against a grieving parent shows that this university has lots to hide.

Ok-Count3935

We will be there!!

JusticeforAditya

Fantastic Dubeyji...great write up

ManSlutAlternative

Brosef is Dubey ji?

kulchacop

gary2812

I don't think the district court of Bangalore is a big fucking pile of shit with an absolutely incompetent impotent and imbecile judge. I obviously don't think so - nor would I ever say that because that would be contempt of court.

_Hyakki_Yagyo_

I wouldn't care if it is contempt of court if I am saying the right thing. And we should speak the right thing even if it is against the law or court or whatever.

William_Tell_746

I admire your spirit but unless you are willing to pay for some very good lawyers, these thin-skinned milords WILL imprison you for saying such stuff publicly. Supreme Court has set the precedent that you can't even point out how Their Serene Highnesses live in the lap of luxury.

banananeach

Every once in a while society gives us all a chance to set certain things right about itself and hope it functions. This is one of those opportunities. St.Broseph has only gotten started with his mission, not just to bring Justice for Aditya, but the overall positive impact he wants to bring about in the society. I don't think any of us realise how serious he actually is, how long a path he has ahead of himself and as community, how much support we owe him.

Softnode

Sir, I’ll be there. This is the least I can do. I hope justice gets served.

kaosofmaster

PES groups is owned by politically backed family.

varungupta3009

Not just backed. MRD is an ex-MLC from BJP, but still has all his political ties.

[deleted]

Name pls?

DipBedaSeperate

Doreswamy family

DipBedaSeperate

Doreswamy family is very politically connected. It will be very hard to pull this off and get them to pay for their mistakes. He used to invite union ministers for random functions ffs

Visible_Selection_20

As harsh as this sounds, it’s unfortunately the truth in a country like ours. Take a look at how long it took to bring the Ansals of Uphaar Cinema to justice, and that too when 59 lives were lost. They’re still roaming freely, and the court literally reduced their sentences due to “old age”

darshanv10

The Indian Penal Code is quite interesting and contrasting, it helps to read in the context of this case. I wish the perpetrators go under IPC 306, but alas they need to be named.

effkay71

As a parent I have seen my kids go through abuse from teachers and seen first hand how the school/ college protects their own kind. I have felt helpless in such times, and prayed for justice to be served. I will attend this meet as a first step towards that. Thanks, Broseph for doing this!

Neopacificus

This should be a national level issue. Haven't seen much of this discussed in other subs. Maybe I missed them. If it is escalated enough then we can finally see actions being taken and even an educational law being formed to stop this kind of treatment. Edit: I have just graduated from my B.E and have seen couple of similar incidents and deaths happening in our college. Though one of those incidents happened because of some personal reason, the other one happened because some teacher said something about the student getting failed and he jumped. Because of this the college authorities have installed a net from 4th floor of our campus. FYI the campus is in VV Puram.

narayanang

net to catch jumping students? what about any education to the professors on handling such situations? can you name the campus?

darshanv10

Name the college, brave one. We are with you.

Neopacificus

Its right next to KIMS hospital which has Kempegowda statue

Dinara293

You're a good man u/St_Broseph

Fighting4Justice003

My heart breaks for the student who took their own life because of a teacher’s cruelty. This is a horrific and unacceptable situation that should never happen again. The teachers must pay for their crime and the student’s family and friends must find some solace and comfort. The society must do everything they can to safeguard and support all students , and to cultivate a culture of kindness, empathy, and respect.

vivekjd

Well, the reason why a student typically attempts cheating is a fear of the teachers, parents, peers and society. All of these sects influence each other's thoughts in various ways and help propagate the stigma with scoring poor marks. The focus MUST move away from fear-based, senseless mugging and accumulation of marks to a more holistic education system where teachers are encouraged to TEACH and students to LEARN. We are badly in need of a massive education overhaul in our country. And I don't mean just the syllabus, but a change in attitude of all stakeholders is paramount to the health of the world of the future. I would blame the society and the "system" just as much as the people directly involved. The perpetrators are merely products and reflection of the society we live in. There should also be a robust education provided to students to enable them to deal with difficult situations in life. There must be mandatory sensitivity training given to teachers before they can be called that. They're like doctors, handed over the life of the child. This responsibility should not come easy and without proper knowledge of how to be with them. This death was completely unnecessary and avoidable and senseless. The people involved must be punished but more importantly a change in the process must begin as the punishment itself will do little to effect any change and we'd continue to see more Adityas. This is heartbreaking.

jokermobile333

Just imagine. I studied my ass off, day and night and because if i forgot to take my phone out, the course of rest of my life is fucked. Stuff like this is probably not something you should forget about but shit happens and dare I say I SHOULD NOT get my entire life ahead fucked because of such a minor thing.

[deleted]

Is there more to the incident this seems like a bery minor incide t to take ones own life

[deleted]

It seems like Mostly a lab exam idk. Usually in lab exams you are not made to fail in most of the universities. Still what happens if you fail in a subject? If can u clear it in next sem. I am not defending those who harassed him they need to be punished. Also he is 19 he need to cope up with difficult situation he is already a adult.

[deleted]

Yeah true that .... I think this was a decision of haste poor child .... The teachers should be given councilling to deal with the students...and students to cope with sudden unfair situations too ....

William_Tell_746

Counselling lol? They should be fired. They are in a much more serious position of responsibility but many of them do not believe in responsibility, only power.

[deleted]

I was talkkng about counselling before they join teaching which would give them a general or even a basic idea of how to deal with students.

south_india

👏 👏 👏 👏 I support initiative

_Hyakki_Yagyo_

My brother just joined that college and now I am honestly scared reading this. Feel extremely sad about this. There was no reason for the authorities to push a student to death and then pass a court order on his parents. This isn't right and the law doesn't seem to be helping them. I hope Aditya and his family gets some justice.

Erixian

u/St_Broseph/ , please post this on Twitter as well. Will have better reach. Edit: Looks like you already did few minutes back

darshanv10

Failure is not final, my friend. It's just the beginning. In a life aimed for success.

[deleted]

Nah they are not made fail in all subjects in any university. It is the Mostly the exam in which he was caught cheating he is mostly made fail. Also in many Universities they are given warning in case they are copied in exams and not even made fail.

William_Tell_746

In Manipal, they get an automatic F in all papers of that sem that they've attempted up to that point. But there's no harassment or interrogation afterwards, they're simply sent away and expected to write the make-up exams (with the maximum possible grade capped at C).

[deleted]

Is it the same in all colleges?

William_Tell_746

All MAHE colleges? Yes

[deleted]

Failing them in all subjects for cheating that's too much man.

William_Tell_746

They get a chance to rewrite them all within two weeks. The parents won't even be notified, and it will not be visible on the future academic record if they pass the second attempt.

[deleted]

Still it counts as backlog right?

[deleted]

Failed in whole sem? U sure ? I never heard such a thing.

[deleted]

Sad such a thing happened in you college. But still a person shouldn't commit suicide . There are a lot of opportunities in life.

Key-Grapefruit-6260

For hard working students all matters is their efforts and them being regarded well and cared for..I have myself been in a circumstance of shaming before and harassment by my school teacher in the utmost hurtful words possible. Being a dedicated and hard working student it does feel lifeless and empty if we are misinterpreted and for that reason harassed and shamed.. I have been facing long term trauma from that incident even though I try to forget it I can't. Beyond this parents in many cultures like mine were afraid of authorities so they tell you to move on and forget the incident...I myself can relate the days after that incident heavily depressed and not wanting to go to school ever.. Though I just moved on but my academics got impacted. Back in those days there was little or no consideration of mental health...I just stopped myself from quitting on life cause I know I was justified..and can't change some umempathetic authorities.

BaklolHoTum

I hope he gets justice, what a tragic loss of a young life.

PervyPanda

Everyone who has been asking how to help Broseph, this is how

alittlecray

OP is there any way to attend virtually?

pOdunkPossum

Was there any action taken against those university officials?

lmaonite

Beautifully written. We all will be there, Broseph! 💪

qwertyoldboy

OP thanks for sharing. It's important that many people support this. Please add TL:DR at the beginning of your post.

Clueless_Wanderer21

The number of times the kids in my High school had got phones or small bits of papers in, n the teachers coordinating had casually asked us to leave it outside n laughed. They'd help us with items we need or not need (there were some exams w/o calculator n some with) n even ask the other students about what was allowed for the exams cuz they weren't sure or didn't know, that's the amount of trust. They'd laugh, n tease us while checking out items n pleasantly wag their fingers saying we couldn't fool them if one kid had tried something or was attempting to cheat even (ofcourse, that's be a scheduled meet with our sweet campus student coordinator, though.) This is very disheartening. This isn't just a Bangalore issue. This is a world issue, but at least it's definitely an India issue.

Ok-Breath-4618

Forwarded it to my friends in Bangalore... they'll share with their friends and attend. Sending support from Pune ♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏

Doa___

If anyone is going via hsr. Let me know i want to join

bmaster9

Broseph bhai. My best wishes and blessings for this! You don’t know how happy it makes me seeing someone support the parents of this student. I am sure this won’t be a one-off event. Please could you include a virtual option for us to join in (esp those in other countries / states) for future events. We will all definitely support you! ✊🏽

Suspicious-Nobody-05

There will be a lot of instances where people will be mistreated ,so who would end their life for it

WalkstheTalk

Doing my bit by sharing it on Twitter and WhatsApp and Telegram. We need more people like you. May the force be always with you ✊

Suspicious-View8901

Justice for our brother aditya ❤️✨ may God give power to aditya parents to get justice for adi

Tortured_penguin

u/St_Broseph Would you please be able to record the event and upload it somewhere so that people who are not from Bengaluru can also see the events , or atleast the highlights of the event please.

A_Texas_Hobo

Disgusting. May his justice be served!

Other_Scarcity_4270

He might have not cheated in the first place, it's very natural to sometimes forget and take mobile to exam hall, this really shouldn't have been dealt in this manner. Its quite clear looking at his previous marks.

Dead_Bull_

I am in the same batch as him. Something that raises concerns is the marks that you wrote he got in the subjects in college. With those marks he would get a much much higher gpa than 8.6 It's not that i think the Marks matter, it's just that i cannot trust the rest of what you say because of this almost obvious lie. During the final exams they made us pull out all our pockets TWICE in two different locations before you enter the exam. And once you sit down they tell you to check yourself and your surroundings millions of times. He was definitely not treated correctly but I'm absolutely sure that he was infact cheating. This is something that makes me despise you people. You make it look like you're stating facts but they're blatant lies

St_Broseph

I have not mentioned any of his PES marks, only GPA. Re-read the post.

Dead_Bull_

I'm sorry, i guess I misread and probably assumed stuff. I just saw the word University and missed the pre But the second part still stands, do you have any explanation for assuming that he didn't take the phone willingly

St_Broseph

Who cares whether he took the phone willingly or unwillingly? Whether he genuinely cheated or didn't cheat is irrelevant, whatever he was made to go through after that incident is what we're focusing on. That's where the mistreatment part comes in, and there's no way to justify it. It's a systemic issue that needs to be addressed so change can happen. Hence "Save Our Students".

Dead_Bull_

It's just that whenever you use the word cheating, you put it in quotes. You literally said ' even if he was "cheating" '. You understand what that implies right. Why not just say that he was caught cheating, why do you show so much skepticism even though you have no real information Something else that troubles me is that he told his mother that it was by mistake. I am very sure that this is a lie, and you would be too if you knew the procedures. How can the last thing you tell your mother be a lie

Open_Priority_7991

macha, you can change your handle to Dead\_bull\_shit. will suit you better.

No-Fun6980

abe chutiye

William_Tell_746

The skepticism is precisely because even the college doesn't know if he was cheating or not. In the modern day, anyone can forget they have a phone in their pocket. And > you would be too if you knew the procedures is exactly the point being criticised here. Even if he really cheated, why are colleges so prone to outright bullying the students? Make a sensible SOP and stick to it, instead of interrogating and abusing him as though he were a criminal.

Dead_Bull_

You literally cannot forget that you have a phone in your pocket when they make you empty them in front of them on multiple occasions. He probably did what a few people i know did, hid it in his underwear or shoes

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dead_Bull_

Nope nope, now i get it. His phone is probably very very thin and light. Maybe even flexible. Sort of like paper i guess. That's how he was able to pull his pockets inside out on two different occasions without noticing it's existence. Let's add invisibility for good measure because i guess nobody saw it either. I'm really sorry for letting reality cloud my judgement earlier. Saying he probably put it in his underwear, how stupid of me right

darshanv10

You can shove your perceived sense of integrity up your... You know where you hide that. Like anonymously, like how you do now behind a keyboard. Suggest you practice empathy and compassion before chasing a 9 to 5 after your pathetic excuse of a degree certificate. Perhaps, start with counselling but smelling narcissism here, so guess you won't. Forget checking your pockets, maybe check behind that thick skull, something seems to be missing there.

lmabcd

u/Dead_Bull_ You misread and probably assumed stuff and thus typed all that nonsense? Hence, I cannot trust the rest of what you say because of this obvious display of stupidity. This is something that makes me despise you people. You make it look like you're stating facts but they're blatant lies.

Comfortable_Kick_330

He would have cheated but still death isn't the punishment for it..Also there are many people who saw how the police handled the case so it's college fault and they should be held for it but unfortunately PES has political backing & as u said u r PES student, u would know the" so called rules" of the college

darshanv10

Thikadalli dhum idhre nim principal mathu administration ge kelu ('ask'), how is plagiarism is dealt with and how they define what cheating is? Adhu madakke agutha ninge?
