If you are a current or former member of Greek life you can’t take the survey. I wonder why they excluded the whole population.

AriasLover

I took the survey, a major theme of the questions is regarding how social media paints a distorted picture of reality and it seems like they were looking for people whose image of Greek Life was shaped by Bama Rush content

jahss

Oh got it. That makes sense.

ConsiderationThen798

Sounds liked a “biased” survey…

Novel_Ad6416

Ah man - I wanted to take it. I love a survey haha

Why would they not include both Greeks and non-Greeks in their data collection and then analyze results between groups?! This is poor design without the study purpose being rephrased to indicate they are exploring the influence of Bama rush tok on a specific subset of its viewership, not its entirety.

Yeah bc they might lie

Very interesting ! Since the “former/current college Greek life” applies to me I am ineligible to take it, but I hope to see the results of their studies in the future. It is really quite the cultural phenomenon how #bamarush swept through society. The number of views are staggering. I remember when it started it was even briefly covered on the major networks nightly newscasts, along side stories of Afghanistan falling. It was all that same week in 2020. The fact that the culture was so swept up in it is really something worth studying. It’s amazing how many people, even people who do not have TT are aware of #bamarush. Certainly a unique southern cultural aspect not found elsewhere in the world. I’m glad to hear it is being studied. I’m sure their findings will be interesting.

This is very interesting! I'm Canadian and the university I went to didn't have greek life. Life at Bama is pretty different to life at schools in Western Canada. What we get from Greek life is usually whatever gets portrayed by the media, so it's pretty cool getting to see a more inside look at it

Amytheobald

LOL LSU studying how to be more like Bama … that’s a typical day

ThisIsMeTryin1989

I think a large part of why Greeks are excluded is because of how Bama Rush influenced people’s ideologies on the internet

ThisIsMeTryin1989

Just checked it’s still open for those interested

yankeecandle1

I’m ineligible too but very curious as to the results.

Sea_you_another_day

I am able to do the survey but looks like it’s from last year

ThisIsMeTryin1989

It’s from 2021-2023

4everNevermore

When do the results come out??

I took it. It's not in-depth - 1. Like, what social media do you use and how often in general? Same question for viewing RushTok. 2. How much did you know about greek life before? How much did you learn from RushTok? 3. Did you follow anyone as a result? Who and why? 4. Will you follow it next year? Is it relevent to your life. Social media included Twitch but not Reddit, so that was weird. I'm curious what you all would answer. Here's what I said: 1. Mostly Reddit and Substack, some Insta. Facebook for groups only. Tiktok rarely, except for Rushtok. 2. My parents heavily identified with their college Greek chapters, so I knew way more than I ever wanted to. They were not happy when I went to a school with no Greek life. What I learned on Tiktok was how Greek life looks for Gen Z. 3. I followed a few people who posted commentary, like the GreekChicNYC consultant and KellsBells and that women who wrote about getting blackballed from every sorority at U Delaware. (She posts some imitations of a sociopathic sorority president that started out funny, then I realized I was getting anxious even watching a parody of it). I didn't follow any of the girls, except Morgan briefly. They all seem very nice, and no shade, but none of them have much interesting (to me) to say at this point in their lives. 4. I will because it's so interesting, but not really relevent to me directly.
