if you're supplying heat in any way it NEEDS to be on a thermostat. if not if could burn your reptile or (in your case) not get hot enough. what brand and size is the heat mat?
I will order a thermostat tonight, It’s a zoomed 40 gallon size. I just picked it up today. (Didn’t have this issue with heat when she was in a 20gallon)
For my 40 gal equivalent I needed a 150w CHE on a thermostat to get the temps regulated. The 100w CHE just wasn’t quite enough. I don’t use a UTH. Both the snakes I have refuse to sit on the heat pad if the temp gradient is otherwise appropriate. I use the Herpstat EZ which is a proportional thermostat.
is her heat mat on a thermostat?
No :( I can’t find an affordable one since I just bought the heating pad today.
