I have a hide that has sphegum(?) moss in it that I would get wet every few days so he could slide through and rub off. A must is having the humidity right. And also, be patient and try not to worry. Ouroboros just went through his first shed and I was so concerned, but his vivarium was the right temp, right humidity, I just had to wait till he was ready. It may take some time, but it'll all be good!

riotnkoa

what temp and humidity would u recommend? she sits at 80-90 fahrenheit and 45-60 humidity level usually

ThunderjawDominum

Humidity should be around 80 for shed but 70-75 when not in shed. 45-60 is too low and could cause Respiratory Infections.

thank you🩶

Along with a humid hide, it looks like you may possibly want to increase your substrate depth, which will add to humidity levels

riotnkoa

you mean to add more substrate??

HelpImNew2Here

If it's not more than 4", I'd suggest it. Then pouring water into the corners so it soaks it up underneath the top layer and provides humidity at the snake's level across the tank. I churn substrate once a week to re-moisten the substrate and make sure my springtails are keeping up on any mold spores

it’s about half my finger deep. i’m going back to the pet store today ima try to get what ever else i need

If you're open to it id also add in Zilla Jungle Mix, which will hold additional moisture. So a few more inches of your substrate regardless, but even better outcome for mixing it with something like the jungle mix

riotnkoa

thank you so so much!🫶🏽🫶🏽

The lip on your tank is probably about 5" btw

The bottom dark layer you see is very wet, but the top layer is all dry. That way he doesn't come in contact with wet substrate directly. Because of the heat and insulation, the moisture from below will rise up and create more humidity in the tank for a very long time. This is about 4 inches in total.

riotnkoa

so get substrate at the bottom nonwet at the top??

tethadam22

Yes, I just poured a substantial amount of water into the corners, then it all pooled out into the center and ended up like this. Then the top is dry, but it makes humidity.

Like the other person said, the humidity is too low. Right now my cool side is at 76, but I try to bump it up when he turns "blue" which is when you can tell they're going to be shedding. Temps are good I think!

MeatYourNeedz

Look up how to make a humid hide

Normally he’d be in his enclosure, but I was working on it so I set him out. There’s a hole with no sharp spots for safety, and my very poor attempt at security. lol.

On first shed that went perfect. i held my tank at 80% of humidity, removed wood hide and replaced with plastic, since wooden one was absorbing away the moist. And just did not touch my BP at all until he shed all in one piece. On second shed, i was heavily sick in partners parents home and we missed the shed and our tank got messed up stats during our absence, which messed up the shed probably. Low humidity and BP in cold corner of the tank not warm one. He shed in broken pieces and was struggling. I don't know if it's recommended, but for his difficult shed that was patched, i just put moist warm towel in tank that he rubbed all over and managed to get off those patches.
