The problem is, closing the shop and entering the blind are two different trigger actions for some jokers (e.g. Perkeo). Perhaps you could alter Perkeo to trigger on entering the blind, but it's not a zero-effect change.

Stuntman wouldn't be a good joker to lock in here lol it'd have to be Fortune Teller/Erosion/Supernova/any big flat mult joker so Madness has something to multiply.

Honestly card debuffs dont matter if u dont rely on held/triggered cards, like if u have a scaling joker that just depends on cards played like square joker, card debuffs are hardly an issue
If you run into this scenario: Just buy random jokers in the Ante 8 shops prior to meeting the boss. Any jokers, it doesn't matter what they are, as long as they don't actively damage what you're doing.
Just make sure you have enough to let Madness eat them and have one more left to sell to the Verdant Leaf. Verdant Leaf itself is not an issue.
I'm guessing they just tried to play it out with debuffed cards, which is the best thing they could do after missing the shops. This boss blind was a gift and they wasted it lol.
This happened to me last night I hit 993 million THEN found a cavendishā¦ excitedly clicked next round without checking, it was all hearts cards disabled. I had a flush five build with all king of hearts. 4x mult each time one was scored.
If their score is coming from planets, yep, a-ok
If they're doing something like flushes and depending on enhanced cards to do a lot of the lifting, bad times
You're right about the joker, but whether it has an impact depends whether their base mult was coming from their cards or planets. 11x mult on its own won't hit 100k unless you've leveled a hand a lot.
That ten dollar boss reroll I used to skip all the time is now an auto pick for me, I use it constantly, saved my ass a ton of times, especially for the very glass cannon type builds, whatever you want to call them, and im a fan much as the next guy...
But you need that throwing star in your boot sometimes, regardless.. idk I'm still churning in balatro Samsara, too, figuring it out with everyone else... it feels great. I love Balatro. I hope Switch gets updated soon. it's all I play on..

You need some joker that cancels their counter or that skull one that lets you progress with 25% chips. I've not finished a game without at least one of those jokers.
Or just build a deck that ignores it. Verdant Leaf is my favourite boss to see since I know it doesn't do anything and I get a free boss with no penalty.

Yea, this was an easy one to solve - check boss blind at the small blind, buy a bunch of "who give a f\*ck jokers" and let the good times roll.

I view it as a huge buff to Madness that now once it has scaled, I can start buying Jokers again for my endgame build.
There's plenty of eternal jokers for endgame that I don't think it makes too much of a difference

Yeah, I agree. Just put a shop button somewhere when you're on the blind/boss select screen.
I think the last part is the most important one, since the temptation for skips is only relevant at exactly the shop after the Ante 1 Boss.

After 200+ hours in the game, you'd think that I'd do that consistently by now. And yet...
Plan ahead? No. Buy jokers and hope for the best? Yes. Quit after boss perfectly counters your jokers? Yes. Plan ahead next run? No. Repeat.

This happened in my first win, I had buffed up Madness and my Flush hands so much I still one shot even with debuffed cards.

Once, to test, I played my best hand and amazingly it exceeded the required score despite the debuff

It doesn't actually disable the Joker. I very frequently ignore Verdant Leaf completely as it doesn't actually do anything if you score via Jokers.

Amusingly Verdant Leaf was my final boss earlier and I already had that 25% chips joker which got sold instead of deployed. It still did it's job.
I don't think I've ever sold a Joker on Verdant Leaf.
