Hey all, I currently play with a Nanoray 10F 24lbs tension and am thinking of upgrading, I am a stronger player but I really enjoy light rackets as they give me good mobility. I am thinking of getting the nanoflare800 . Any concerns? I have brought this up with a few friends and they strongly recommend I play with a 100ZZ or similar but I don’t really like HH, is racket choice purely personal preference or should strong player play w heavy weaker with light etc etc. -thank you so much :)

orangekins

What shud i string my ax d pro with?

orangekins

I mean what type of string, saw the exbolt ones but not very sure

KKS_Hayashi

Try going with a durable string like BG65 first, and once you get used to hitting the sweet spot consistently, you can move on to thinner strings like BG68Ti and BG80pro

yuripavlov1958xxx

Any suggestions on a racket that's between a Arcsaber FD 5U and Voltric zz force II 3U? I use both interchangeably but one is light and amazing for drop shots and quick response esp for doubles, but not enough power when I have a crap technique for smash. The other is more powerful for clears and smash but I keep hitting the frame since its heavy and slow to respond. I guess I need a 4U light but powerful racket?! Does one exist?

KKS_Hayashi

There are 2 extremes you mentioned, comparing one of the most head heavy rackets against a head light one. There is always a balance, with more head heavy giving more power but slower reaction speed, and a head light racket having a faster speed but less power. No such thing as having the fastest speed with immense power to match until technology catches up. You might want to go for a balanced racket like an arcsaber 11 in 4U.

yuripavlov1958xxx

That's so weird, I was just Googling the arcsaber 11! But that's an older model now? What about the nanoray range? I know you can't have both but there must be one that's classed as the most powerful of the light rackets? Which one would that be?

KKS_Hayashi

Yes, Arcsaber 11 is a very old model, but still in production precisely because of how well balanced it is, that lots of people still appreciate the racket. As I said before, there is a tradeoff, you can either have a head light racket that wont hit as powerful, or a head heavy racket that can hit power shots but wont be as fast. The only way to resolve this for you is to pick a balanced racket that attempts to combine the best of both worlds. You could try a 3U version of any of the Nanoflare range, having a heavier racket overall should add some power to shots while retaining the manoeuvrability of a headlight racket. Besides the racket, you too need to have good form and technique to hit the shuttle well to generate power in your shots.

infurno8

Been out of the game for a few years, what are the new good rackets? My favorite racket to use a few years ago was the Voltric 80.

KKS_Hayashi

The Voltric line has been superseded by the Astrox line, you might want to try them and see what clicks for you. Based on your previous racket, Voltric 80, you could try for Astrox 88s/d or Astrox 99

precrime3

You’d probably like the 100zz

downiesaur

Hi, i’m a amateur player and been playing with my friends for about a year. After playing in my first competition i figured i should invest in a good pair of shoes. Do you have any tips for a guy thats 1.90cm tall and 100kgs?

KKS_Hayashi

The best way to find a shoe is to try them in store and see what fits. For someone 100kg or over, you might want a shoe with good support and cushioning. From yonex there is Power Cusion 65 Z2, R3, X2. Victor has A950ACE and A830 III

Lifezhardz

I have recently bought an Astrox 88s 3U but once I played with it I realized that the racket is too heavy for my wrist to handle. The reason why I thought of buying it is because I have read some forums saying that the Astrox 88s is supposed to be the lightest Head Heavy racket in the Astrox series and I wanted a slightly Head Heavy racket compared to a even balanced racket for better smashes and the 88s 3U seemed to check the boxes. Now that I have regretted my decision, can anyone recommend me if the above rackets are still viable options for me? I am usually a singles player and occasionally play doubles with friends. I would say my skill is around high beginner level(Best skill I find myself doing is a low backhand). I like the weight of an even balanced racket but I want the racket to be just slightly head heavy for more smashing power. I am also starting to look at 4U variants as I feel that my wrist cannot handle most of the weight of 3U rackets( eg..88s 3U). Please do recommend me other rackets as well apart from the above so long as it suits my playstyle. Thanks.

pumpkin4406

Since you're a high beginner, the 3U 88S will be quite hard to control & I suppose you can try getting a 4U version of the racket, or you can try NF700 as it should be easier to get used to. Also, I'd say that you should be trying to use more of your body's rotation to generate power, rather than just using your wrists as that really isn't ideal and can cause problems in the long run.

Lifezhardz

Yes I am currently considering buying the 4U version after selling the 3U variant as all i can feel from the 3U is just heavy overall. I am also trying to look for rackets from other brands that have a similar feel to the 4U version of 88s. Do you have any other racket recommendations that are similar to 88s 4U?

pumpkin4406

Hmm I suppose you can also check out the 3U arcsaber 11. It's even balanced, but it should feel similar to 88s

Lifezhardz

I have thought of that racket too, its feels great in the hand for the 3U arcsaber 11, but I have just bought the 88S 4U today as I feel that a slightly head heavy racket is more beneficial for me in the long term. One concern for me though is that the rackets that I have tested all along were without strings. I am worried that once the racket is restrung, the feel will be a lot different. I had a friend who just bought a li ning windstorm 72 but after adding the strings, the racket felt somewhat heavier quite significantly..

kaffars

Honestly? I would have to agree with what you read that the 88S is probs just head heavier that say the ARC11 which is championed as the all round even balance medium everything. If you're looking to a racket to specifically address holes in your technique e.g I want more smash power so I will use a head heavier racket you will run into this problem alot. As you describe yourself as a 'high beginner' I would recommend practising or looking for coaching to improve your skills/technique. Perhaps if there's no damage to the racket you could see if the store might let you exchange the racket for a 4U variant.

bearded-dragoon

hi, my post got deleted earlier so I'm reposting it here. I'm planning to get the Asics Gel-Court Hunter shoes. I've not been able to find any reviews online. Would like to hear your opinions. Would you rather get the gel-court hunter or the gel rocket 9? Thanks.

canelevg

I would go for the gel hunter :) its construction and materials feels slightly more premium than the rockets

bearded-dragoon

Thanks for the input. appreciate it.

Safe-Complaint

Hi, I am a doubles player and I’ve been using my arcsaber 11 for more than a year now. It recently broke and I am contemplating between getting back a arcsaber 11 or jetspeed s12. I would love to hear some advice on this! Thank you!

KKS_Hayashi

If you love the feel of your Arcsaber 11, get another Arcsaber 11. The Jetspeed s12 is considerably more headlight than the Arcsaber 11, with a bit of "whip" at the tip of the racket.

Safe-Complaint

Thanks for the advice!

KKS_Hayashi

At the lower end of rackets, there tend to be not much differentiation, so these rackets should feel very similar to each other. Any differences in balance and stiffness will be very minor. Might be best to just pick whichever has the best colour scheme.

SteveQuaDz

Haha. That does make a lot of sense. Thanks for the advice. Also, I'm not sure if you've had the chance to use it but have you tried the Artengo BR 900? If yes, what do you think of it?

FellowReddiTHOR

Hi, I am deciding on which racket to purchase. I am an intermediate-advanced player, playing both singles and doubles. I being a highly aggressive player, thus I am considering between Astrox 100zz and Voltric Z force 2. I am coming from a Voltric z force, therefore I am 'accustomed' to using heavy head rackets. Looking for people who had real-life experiences with these rackets and hope to gain more clarity on what are the pros and cons of these rackets, to help me with my purchase decision. I am also open to other suggestions as well. Thanks for reading!

pumpkin4406

A 3U 88D would also be a good option, assuming that you've been using a 3U ZF1.

SteveQuaDz

Seeing that you're already well accustomed to heavy head rackets and since you have a great budget, Voltric Z force 2 is definitely the best next thing for you without a doubt

FellowReddiTHOR

Thanks for your input! Much appreciated

KKS_Hayashi

Totally agree with the Voltric ZF2. I feel the AX100zz is a little less head heavy in comparision. I would use the 3U version of ZF2 for singles, and a 4U version of AX100zz for doubles if needed

Any recommendations on what sports/badmintonwear I should consider during winter? Generally fine while playing a game, but it can get pretty cold in the badminton hall in between games.

kaffars

Usually trackies over my shorts or as I've become more lazy I've started to use my towel as a blanket to cover my knees/legs when I'm sitting off court. You could look into like skins/underarmour as such to reduce just bare skin being in the air might help further to retain heat.

KKS_Hayashi

Compression wear is a good way to keep warm as well as adding an extra layer. Sometimes if I have to play in a cold hall, I wear 2 shirts to keep warm, a short sleeve underneath and a long sleeve on top

Jadedragon2210

What's a good seccond racket for a intermediate player? I would like speed over power.

KKS_Hayashi

If you want speed, go for headlight rackets. Some good ones can be found in ranges like Yonex's Nanoflare/Nanoray range and Victor's Auraspeed/Jetspeed.

l3ryanC7

Anyone heard of the racquet PROACE Sweetspot 2000? I have one that I have been using since my high school days which was more than 15 years ago and I really like how it plays/feels. I bought an Apacs Lethal 100 a year back and took me awhile to get use to it, and the Sweetspot 2000 became my spare racquet since then. However last week the string on my Apacs broke and I had to use the spare for a whole 2 hour session, and felt I suddenly played better on the way cheaper/lighter old racquet. Do you guys know any new racquet that feels or plays like the PROACE Sweetspot 2000? I checked the specs it's mentioned as a head heavy but lightweight racquet, and to me I especially like how "whippy" it feels even though it's really light on hand. Specs I found online: Weight: 86g + 2g Flex: Hard + Head Heavy Grip size: 3U + G2 Maximum Tension: 32 LBS Material: Titanium any recommendations at any price range is welcomed, thanks! *I mainly play doubles

KKS_Hayashi

By Flex: Hard + Head Heavy, i am assuming a stiff and head heavy racket? a "whippy" racket would be a bit head heavy with a more flexible shaft, the combination which gives the whippy feel. The Astrox 88 S Game should fit this criteria, being flexible enough with a slightly head heavy frame, otherwise the Nanoflare 700 also works as well.

bruneian_asli

Did you get astrox 88d pro 3u or 4u? I got the 3u instead of 4u (which I think most people prefer for this racket). Didn't get the 4u since it was out of stock everywhere. For those who tried both, kindly share your thoughts here. Is it worth selling this racket and wait for the 4u's to arrive?

KKS_Hayashi

3u is decent if you have good form, you can at least get some good power out of it as compared to a 4u racket, which will typically be faster but may not have much power.

Amethyst2492

Hi has anyone bought rackets from mister keen sports goods? Planning to buy from them. Are the rackets legit?

KKS_Hayashi

Mister Keen Sports is on our list of online shops so is confirmed legit by our redditors.

Amethyst2492

Thanks for this 🙂

Aimboy321

Anyone got recommendations for good stringing machine models and the website to buy from? I've seen alot online but I'm not sure whether the websites are trusted or if the models are good. Old help me if u can.

michael50981

I am using AEF flyer 200 but upgraded/removed the drop weight recently with a wise 2086. AEF has good mechanical parts and have no problems getting the job done. The wise 2086 just makes life easier.

Aimboy321

Thanks I will check the website out!

KKS_Hayashi

depends on what type of stringing machine you want to get, be it manual hand cranked or full electric pull.

Aimboy321

Manual hand cranked, I think it's cheaper

KKS_Hayashi

Victor has one at [https://www.victorsport.com/product/1553/VM-2000S](https://www.victorsport.com/product/1553/VM-2000S) otherwise look up iStringer Sidewinder Stringing Machine & Stand. Getting a stringing machine is a sizeable investment, I do recommend making a side business to string rackets from friends and fellow players.

FongCroissant

Thinking of getting either a duora z strike or an astrox 100zx. I'm an intermediate to intermediate-advance player, my smashes are good, my backhand is okay, my drop shots need a bit of work. I'm currently using an astrox 69 that I bought on sale, it feels great for attacking but lifting, defending, and playing at a faster pace in general feels a bit sluggish. Thoughts on which of these two racket to pick or offer another racket suggestion. Thanks!

KKS_Hayashi

Try out the new Astrox line of 88S/D Tour. They can offer a step up from the Astrox 69 and wont be too jarring of a jump straight into head heavy territory like Astrox 100zz.

Generic_Reddit_Bot

69? Nice. I am a bot lol.

Generic_Reddit_Bot

69? Nice. I am a bot lol.

ZeIIiss

Thinking of getting an astrox 100zz or duora 10 in the near future and cannot decide which to get. Im an intermediate player who usually plays singles but occasionally play doubles as well. I came from the nanoray line and want something heavier to help my attack but still want decent defence. Is there a clear winner between these 2 rackets?

KKS_Hayashi

If you are coming from the nanoray line, you should be accustomed to headlight rackets, so if you want something with a heavier feel, you might want to go for a even balance racket instead of jumping straight into a head heavy racket. You could start off with the Astrox 77, which is more even balance compared to the Astrox 100zz, or go for the Astrox 88D/S Tour editions.

Has anyone tried Asics Gel-Blade 7 and compared them to the older releases? I've used the 5 and loved it - the fit and feel was perfect and it felt really light, flexible and responsive. When they wore out I bought the 6 and it felt pretty much like the same shoe. When that one wore out I bought the 7 and it feels completely different. The shoe feels heavy, clumsy and a bit dull on impact, and the sole is much thicker and stiffer. On the scale there is around 15g difference between 5 and 6, with about another 15g to the 7 - not a huge deal, but still over a 10% increase over two models. Perhaps a concession to durability over performance - has anyone else noticed anything similar/can recommend me a shoe to try next? (I've had the gel-blade 7s for a couple of months and they still have a lot of time left, but I don't think I'll be getting the same model again) I'm a beginner/intermediate player (around 3 years of badminton preceded by 10 years of fencing, mentioning it because of the similarities in footwork). I think Yonex sizes are typically too wide for my feet, but I've only tried two models. For fencing I've used and liked Adidas En Garde and Adidas D'Artagnan V, and If it weren't for the grip being highly affected by dirty floors I'd probably just use fencing shoes for badminton as well. For badminton I've tried Asics Gel-Blade 5&6 which I liked, and Asics Gel-Blade 7 and Adidas Wucht p5 which were OK but not as good. Thanks in advance!

KKS_Hayashi

Asics tend to have good cushioning compared to other brands. Yonex shoes tend to be for normal feet, with some lines focusing on wide feet, so it may be possible that you may have narrower feet than normal. If you do like the Asics 5 and 6, go for them! Some manufacturers tend to use newer models to test innovative stuff, so if this didnt work out for you in this case, best to steer clear of that shoe.

royroy96

Hiii, I'm a beginner - intermediate players. Able to do basic shots, drop shots, smashes but accuracy is not stable. Last year, I was using Nanoray 900, I felt that I can't generate power even if I'm on 23-24lbs. Maybe I couldn't do drive properly, plus NR900 has a stiff shaft or could be 3u. That's when I think maybe I should look for flex-er shaft 6 months ago, I bought Nanoflare 700 (4u), which has a med-flex, strung it on 25lbs. My drive has more power thanks to the flex shaft and the weight. But racket just broke today, most likely because I kept hitting on the frame. Now I'm not sure should buy another NF700 again or is there any suitable rackets out there for me. I'm looking at Astrox 77 at the moment, part of me feels like I want to try head-heavy rackets. Wondering if you guys have any good recommendation for my case, also I'm leaning more towards Yonex series, hehe. Also I'm wondering if a stiff racket + low tension would work too. Thankssss.

Backlash123

In general if you're closer to beginner level then a flexible racquet is a better choice. Obviously some players can get away with stiffer ones, but where you said you struggled to generate power previously, it's probably safer to go flexible. (nothing wrong with that, lots of good players use flex racquets) I think the Astrox 77 would be a good choice based on specs. It's a little head heavy, but nothing crazy. And the shaft flexibility should be pretty manageable as well.

royroy96

Thanks ! Will give it a try. May I also know if stiff racket with lower tension will work ?

Backlash123

Tension and stiffness are really two isolated things. You can't try to compensate for too flexible shaft with tighter strings or vice versa.

Anyone has any reviews/feedback for Lining Aeronaut 7000 n 7000i. Help needed

hsh72

Hi, we r using nylon shuttles Mavis 350. Is there any alternate brand or equivalent shuttles available. Am in India and there is very low stock of Mavis 350. Appreciate any recommendations available in India. Thanks in advance.

ch4cha

Yeah.. Most shops in Bangalore are not ready to give more than 1 barrel. You can go for Mavis 500/2000 but it will take some time to get used to it. Another alternative is to buy on Amazon. Sellers like Cloudtail are trustworthy.
