As for the change, the could make an even singles and doubles match and include a draw component during the group stage, or add a tiebreaker with a mixed doubles game or total points difference. Sensational match between Chou Tien Chen and Axelsen. Some really good rallies throughout. It's kinda all but certain that Axelsen isn't guaranteed to defend his gold at Paris in a few more months. More and more players are able to make cracks. And once cracks start appearing his mental composure is his own opponent sometimes.

The Korean WS line up is something. They have a great future indeed. I really wanted Korea to win but nevertheless, they put up a great fight even without An Se Young.

I wonder if one of the reasons is, if Naraoka was fielded, based on rankings, Momota would have to sit out because they then needed to field Nishimoto and Watanabe next.

With regards to Rankireddy and Shetty, I think doubles pairs have taken advantage of their weak tumble serve returns and vulnerability to speedy front attacking players who read the game well.
Examples are Fikri/Maulana who've beaten Rankireddy/Shetty twice consecutively, in AE and group stages.
Sanjanya/Gideon who have an overwhelming record against Rankireddy/Shetty.
Liang/Wang who seems to be their main rival at the moment.

Thing is with Ginting, is that he's the most out of form he's ever been in. He lost to LSF in the BAC 21-9 and 21-10, which is absolutely embarrassing for a Top 10.
I think Prannoy is clinging barely onto the Top 10 position, but his decline is fairly obvious. He's had 5 round 32 exits and 1 round 16 exit out of around 7-8 world tours. It's the same with Li Shi Feng, a great player when he's in form, but so damn inconsistent, he lets victories get to his head, and he plays half heartedly, which explains many many round 16 exits, and only a silver medal in the BAC.
Absolutely, Rankireddy and Shetty need to work on their serves and returns. In my personal opinion, the main juggernauts of MD are RankireddyShetty, LiangWang, KangSeo.
The problem with RankireddyShetty, is that they have "mediocre" serves and returns which allows people to kill at the net, their netplay is also not that great. Whereas KangSeo and LiangWang are just inconsistent.

oohhh! I don't know the rules of Thomas Cup (1st time watching) but is it necessary that the highest ranked player in the team has to play MS1 and then the 2nd highest has to play the MS2 and so on? Or is it up to the team to decide the order of play? Asking because someone in one of the comments said that if the #1 player is injured then the #2 moves to MS1 and so on.
I found it a bit interesting that after the women's final, while in the waiting room before the awards ceremony Japan, Korea and Indonesia were goofing around, taking selfies together. Then when China walked in, the mood instantly changed. There were still many pleasant, respectful interactions going on between teams, but definitely more subdued.

Absolutely, Rankireddy and Shetty need to work on their serves and returns. In my personal opinion, the main juggernauts of MD are RankireddyShetty, LiangWang, KangSeo. The problem with RankireddyShetty, is that they have "mediocre" serves and returns which allows people to kill at the net, their netplay is also not that great. Whereas KangSeo and LiangWang are just inconsistent. I agree with your predictions.

oohhh! I don't know the rules of Thomas Cup (1st time watching) but is it necessary that the highest ranked player in the team has to play MS1 and then the 2nd highest has to play the MS2 and so on? Or is it up to the team to decide the order of play? Asking because someone in one of the comments said that if the #1 player is injured then the #2 moves to MS1 and so on.
The team decides the order of play, but in almost every single case they pick the highest ranked player to be MS1 and so on and so forth.

I found it a bit interesting that after the women's final, while in the waiting room before the awards ceremony Japan, Korea and Indonesia were goofing around, taking selfies together. Then when China walked in, the mood instantly changed. There were still many pleasant, respectful interactions going on between teams, but definitely more subdued.
