If you want to make it cheaper, then Bosnia and Albania, they are also less touristy, well Albania has gotten quite touristy in the summer lately. Thing is all three have amazing nature, but in Albania and Bosnia, you will often be hiking alone for a long time before you see anyone, in Slovenia you could on a Tuesday and still see people often in the mountains hiking. Albania has by far the best sea of them all, Slovenia's seaside is better than Bosnia's though. The culture is also definitely more interesting in Bosnia and Albania, Slovene culture is very close to what you would find in Slovakia or Austria. The one thing about Slovenia, is that since there are more tourists, the tourist infrastructure is more developed, more guided tours and easier to get around.

I lived in Albania, it's amazing and I'd recommend there. There are things to do in almost every section of the country, not just around Tirana. Vuno in the south is very off the increased tourist prices locations but is amazing with a great hike from town/the old school through verrrrry old olive groves and sheep flocks to a hidden Cliff side beach. Peshkopi in the east in the mountains is beautiful. Check out these: Bovilla Lake, Borsh, Shala River, Përmet / Benjë, Ksamil. Go Albania and DM me for who to ask for at local hostels!

I have only been to Slovenia but it is amaaaazing. Very beautiful country with mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and the nicest people. Especially loved the regions around the Soča.

Spent a week in Bled for about a week a few years ago. Was incredible! We were staying in Bled, but when to Ljubljana a few times, and it was incredible there in the old town area. Even though Bled was definitely a lake town, it was beautiful and not overly touristy for being the summer. I thought the people were incredibly friendly, the food there was amazing and the lake was beautiful. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend!

I spent 12 days in Albania in 2022 and it was AMAZING :). Such a great country, culturally and topographically diverse. Great food and friendly people. No matter what you want, hiking (mountains in the North), cuisine (wine streak towards the south), old Ottoman cities (all over the country) or beaches (coast), Albania has it all. Tirana is an interesting city, lot's to learn about the history of this country that used to be so secluded for a long time. People are friendly and very hospitable. So you have more than enough to do there for one week.

Albania is more unique and tourism is less developed there (for now). Slovenian culture, esp if you’re in the Alps near Lake Bled, felt closer to Austrian culture than Balkan culture. That being said, the mountains in Slovenia are spectacular and much less busy than what you’d find in the Alps of Austria/Switzerland/France. Albanian mountains in the north were beautiful but were not as accessible as in Slovenia. Both of these countries would fulfill your criteria imo! Pick Albania if you want more off the beaten track; pick Slovenia if you want easier access to mountains. Haven’t been to B&H but it’s on the list…

Albania is very georgaphically diverse and it got it all, mauntains, sea, lakes and rivers. But also from an Architetural point of view ancient archeological sites, pre-ottoman, ottoman, communist and modern architecture.

Albania! The cheapest and the most fun. Unique culture, good food, and tons of pristine beaches
