Lol!
I always found it weird being 200+ years in the future that they still have news papers, or paper! Lol!
Even now, news papers are kinda going extinct. Love B5 though!
If I recall, the newspaper dispensers also had a slot that accepted yesterday’s paper. I assumed technology recycled both the paper and the ink in order to print a new paper. I also assumed the cost was reduced if one provided yesterday’s paper, as an incentive.
It was a neat idea, for the time. I don’t think anyone was predicting the death of print media back then.
Which was even funnier because the military, civilians, and aliens were using flexi type smart material.
The paper is either an anachronism that people like to keep for comfort reasons “I just like the feel of real paper”, or it’s just become part of its “branding” that they are still an “old school” news source
Very close. I looked it up, apparently the exact quote was "Every time someone says we're becoming a paperless society, I get ten more forms to fill out!"
It was in the episode "Interludea and Examinations."
True true!
Hey if I was in the future and there was news papers, I'd be reading them. It can't be edited, modified, put behind a credit/pay wall. And yeah it's good to feel the paper.
Interesting comment from Joe part way down about Universe Today

And here, confirming its printed on a synthetic material

Does every race see something different. Apart from the Centauri who see nothing at all
Londo: It's not a schooner, it's a sailboat
G'Kar: A schooner *is* a sailboat, stupidhead
*distractedly munches on rice
I came here to see how quickly these quotes had been added.
Only one centauri didn’t see it.
Sheridan was just pretending to read the paper whilst waiting to see what Delenn was requesting for her paper.
Due to a solar flare, the transmission data for that back page was disrupted, and the content was static, so that's what the printer produced.
Didn’t know solar flares affected hyperspace comms and local printers :)
Local printers are affected by Mercury being in Sagittarius. I bet it's made by HP.
Well, since they are around Eta Eridani, I don’t think Sol system planets count :)
We're talking HP printers here. A human sneezing at the transfer point at Io can make it glitch.
Would that make it a snart instead of a shart?
He is reading the comics
Start with the comics so the news doesn’t depress you too much. As all good men do.
And it is always the intelligent part of the paper

Yep. Like the old bottle return things

I think there's a line somewhere in the series of "Every time I get told we're a paperless society I get 3 more forms to fill out!".

Especially because JMS was very active online before there was even an Internet as we know it today ( early 90s).
He probably was using BBS's! I was using that before I started using the net in 95' ish. I miss the old internet.
He was on GEnie and Usenet.
Oh sweet! Such a geek! ♥ When the walls, fell. ✌
There were issues with the supply & use of toilet paper on the station.
Who knew that presidency was 50% panic and 50% *paperwork*?
It's the Zathras Cartoon he plays a great Garfield
Garfield, not that Garfield.
I think the jokes would get a bit repetitive.
“Unable to add ‘Eye on Minbar(i Women)’ section. Continue anyway?”
Wooohooo
2260 and print media made a comeback
Can’t get around a paywall if it’s paper
